Moobreaker is pretty good and shows lot of potential. But then again, will it be able to find success remains to be seen, unfortunately in large part due to the dev horrible monetization choices.
You see, maybe I'm naive but I can believe Unknown Worlds when they say they are already generous with the unlocks, want to add lots for free to not divide the playerbase, but still have to make money somehow. It's just, the optic of it all is so so bad.
Game is 30 fucking buck in Early access, which is already quite salty. Then they lost not a fucking minute to tempt players with a Founder's Pack at 25. Ok, that's not an obligatory purchase and you have until the end of EA to buy it, but still, optics.
Then, for a game this lacking in solo modes (you have a 'vs AI' but it's a joke XP wise), putting their rogue like mode behind a paywall is so fucking stupid. Half of the steam reviews are calling for murder because of it. It's not that bad, it's just optics. Very very bad one. In reality you have 14 access pass to the rogue like mode and another unlock every day. I mean, unless you really don't want to touch the PVP and chain play this mode, that seems... not great, but ok. Oh disastrous optic again, while you supposedly earn bonus pass while you level up, you can buy them. What a fucking bullet in the foot.
I think the bigger issue, not a surprising one, is the game's lack of modes. When you are already starved to choose between basic pvp and rogue mode, locking the rogue mode is eh.
And after playing some hours, it's a FUCKING SHAME because the game is good. The skirmish feel is solid, the mechanics are nice. Balance seems a little fucked, but who cares, it's early access day 1.
It would be a shame if those MTX decisions hurt the game, we will see. Depends on the dev reaction (I'm pretty certain this pass shit will be reworked, it hurts the game too much) and their ability to push more content.
