RIP Stadia

You can't launch a platform like that without any killer 1st party app.

Mario Bros, Halo, Half-Life 2 etc. They needed something especially with a gimmick like cloud but they had nothing. A giant corporation that wanted a slice of the pie and not pour any love into the industry. Kind of sad and pathetic. They had more than enough time to do something special.

I bought too many games lately, so the only sensible thing to do is to buy another huge JRPG: Dragon Quest X Offline.

Doesn't support 800p, but it runs good on the Deck. A bit on the heavy side even on mid settings(~75% GPU usage). Looks like the main story segments are fully-voiced. Now I kinda see why it is not getting a localization yet. Being originally an online game it is said to have tons of content. The translation and voice workload will be astronomical considering that they are also releasing the second offline version next spring and future versions are probably planned as well.

Released in early access.
I was very much anticipating it but I must say the pricing and barebone solo tempered my hype.
I mean 30 euros for an early access and then you add a founder’s pack dlc for 25 ? Spicy.
And from what I played of the beta only the rogue like mode lets solo player earn currency (a misery).

But I’m still fighting to stay in bed and not throw money at the screen. And play Magic Arena and Runeterra again. But who got the time ?

the thing I find arguably the most annoying about this UI shit is the people complaining about it all of a sudden are all "UI EXPERTS" when everyone else thats used or is using steam either doesn't give a shit or care enough to say anything

The biggest complaints I have is trying to find some options for stuff that are seemingly hidden for no apparent reason but EGS, Amazon, netflix, etc almost every place does the same shit where like transactional information is all buried away hidden from you

The good news is that with the Deck around, Valve might actually update more parts of the website experience to match the deck visuals more closely. They are retooling the login page and the mobile app right now.
But Valve being Valve, they are doing it in chunks as always, so who knows if all parts get updated. You can still randomly find pages where Cyl and other mascots pop up, even though they haven't used them in any of the events for years now.
Just remnants of the old black theme, before they made everything blue.

I didnt knew there was a way to make Shin Megami Tensei even more superior to Pokemon than it already was

But there is one, apparently
I'm usually pretty in-sync with all your references and jabs, but this one I do not get.
Probably because I dunno who this person is, and I haven't been keeping up with Pokemon news I guess. :thinking-face:

I wanted to finish a chapter in Fuga: Melodies of Steel on my desktop since my Steam Deck is charging and I learned it doesn't have cloud saves. Isn't it very easy for developers to implement?

I took 2 days off work to go to Sacramento to go see Odesza. I get to Sacramento to only find out that they had to postpone the show because of some issues with the stage.

It was about a 6 hour drive for me to get to Sacramento. Well at least I got to see Avatar in IMAX 3D. I like the movie but at the same time I feel like part of what made it special more than a decade ago were it's visuals, they still hold up but at the same time they don't feel that special any more since other movies since then have been able to also have amazing SFX. How far visuals have come over the years.

By the way if you have played Forza Horizon 5 you likely have heard this song from Odesza featured in the game.

Officially confirmed that it will not be released on Steam now :crying-face:
I'm on board with everyone saying this is absolutely ridiculous when you see some of the other games that are able to be released on Steam.

Can someone explain why? What is the content in question that is causing this issue in the first place?

Moobreaker is pretty good and shows lot of potential. But then again, will it be able to find success remains to be seen, unfortunately in large part due to the dev horrible monetization choices.

You see, maybe I'm naive but I can believe Unknown Worlds when they say they are already generous with the unlocks, want to add lots for free to not divide the playerbase, but still have to make money somehow. It's just, the optic of it all is so so bad.
Game is 30 fucking buck in Early access, which is already quite salty. Then they lost not a fucking minute to tempt players with a Founder's Pack at 25. Ok, that's not an obligatory purchase and you have until the end of EA to buy it, but still, optics.
Then, for a game this lacking in solo modes (you have a 'vs AI' but it's a joke XP wise), putting their rogue like mode behind a paywall is so fucking stupid. Half of the steam reviews are calling for murder because of it. It's not that bad, it's just optics. Very very bad one. In reality you have 14 access pass to the rogue like mode and another unlock every day. I mean, unless you really don't want to touch the PVP and chain play this mode, that seems... not great, but ok. Oh disastrous optic again, while you supposedly earn bonus pass while you level up, you can buy them. What a fucking bullet in the foot.

I think the bigger issue, not a surprising one, is the game's lack of modes. When you are already starved to choose between basic pvp and rogue mode, locking the rogue mode is eh.

And after playing some hours, it's a FUCKING SHAME because the game is good. The skirmish feel is solid, the mechanics are nice. Balance seems a little fucked, but who cares, it's early access day 1.

It would be a shame if those MTX decisions hurt the game, we will see. Depends on the dev reaction (I'm pretty certain this pass shit will be reworked, it hurts the game too much) and their ability to push more content.
