According to two sources familiar with the situation, the studio’s internal announcement of Kurvitz’s departure late last year also contained a threat of possible legal action against him. Any split would have been made messier by Kurvitz and Rostov being shareholders in the studio, the sources said. It’s also clear ZA/UM has gone out of its way to try and keep the situation quiet. Kotaku reached out for an interview with Kurvitz in February. The studio declined on his behalf, but provided no indication the developer had already left the company.

BGE2 is super dead, so I don't see it breaking Forever's record. It's clearly cost sunk fallacy that's been keeping the project going, but with most of the industry hurting for money and wanting to get bought, that shit is getting cut for sure.
Yeah I think so too, and
That's basically the comments consensus - however, one tweet stuck out:

However, the account writing this is someone claiming to work on the music for game... so, make of that what you will ;)

By that logic DNF numbers are not true because that game also went through multiple reboots if I remember correctly.

Also Witcher 3 RTX date and possibly trailer announcements today.

I mean there's nothing you gotta make of this. It's just factually correct that the BG&E2 of far back then was a completely different game, team, and concept to the one announced in 2017. They are not really connected beyond both being taking place in that universe.

Note:
This update is for the Steam Deck Beta and Preview channels, and includes new features that are still being tested. You can opt into this in Settings > System > Steam Update Channel.

Note:
This update was re-released to fix the "Automatically Set Resolution" toggle from incorrectly showing when not on the Preview Channel.

It's been great to see all the community activity around custom boot videos, so we made a couple updates to make this a bit easier to do. The new folder location below will be a safer place to save your video files, and they won't be wiped with every Steam update.

Custom boot videos

  • Steam Deck will now look for custom boot and suspend animations in
    steamui/overrides/movies/
. Please note that you'll need to create this folder first.
  • Play custom boot animations in full screen

General

  • Fixed issue with startup haptics

Resolution: applies to Preview Channel only

  • Added a toggle allowing Steam Deck to automatically control the display resolution for external displays. When toggled on, Steam Deck will automatically adjust the resolution for best performance on higher resolution displays.
Look what I've done

If you changed the custom boot animation on PS5 Sony would ban your PSN account and console and you’d lose your purchases.

When you do it on a Steam Deck Valve finds a way to make it easier for you.

Next Fest keeps delivering.

Sievert is a pixel, top-down Tarkov / Stalker-like.

It's a shooter, but pacing is slower. Lots of questing, looting/scavenging, crafting, etc.

Looks super-promising.

New RimWorld content incoming?

Huge props to Valve. I like how they react to things the community does with their Decks.

Returnal must be the most leaked Sony games and one of the most leaked unannounced games overall.

  • Nvidia leak
  • PC build shown at GDC
  • Screenshot of settings meny
  • Video of settings menu
  • In-game screenshot
  • SteamDB leak (constantly updated)
  • Old SIE game list document

EA's """regional pricing""" strikes again:

(Dead Space)

literally $95 in Argentina
Just a question, I keep seeing you mentioning the ARS price literally being very high in $ (which I presume is USD), but isn't it $54, not $95 or am I perhaps missing something?

While someone from argentina can explain this better than me. It comes down to an extra tax that they have to pay that is like an extra 65% (or even more)
E: it might actually be 75%
correct, 75% tax on all $ purchases

More Witcher on the way and Cyberpunk sequel in the works.
Well, the Cyberpunk disaster certainly hasn't hampered their ambitions. No clear timeline for all of this but I'm not sure I trust them to deliver a whole Witcher trilogy within a 6 year window AS WELL AS a Cyberpunk sequel and a brand new IP all in a timely manner. Especially not given the clear management issues the studio has.

As soon as one of these projects hits crunch, you just know staff will get pulled form the other ones and they will all grind to a halt except for whichever one they're looking to ship next. Assuming none of these get cancelled, this is like their next 15 years of game releases at best. And even that seems awfully optimistic lol.

They said 6 years after the first game ships. That could be 4 years away by itself. By the time they ship the first game they'll have experience with unreal engine development and their production pipeline in general will be established. Doesn't seem too dramatic for them to try and get 2 sequels out in 6 years after that. It'll get delayed, probably, because everything always does, but this doesn't seem like an outrageous plan.

If they mapped out three games from the start and plan to reuse heavily with only more minor touch ups for engine/graphics... it's certainly possible. With CDPRs history i'll believe it when i see it though.

CDPR haven't burnt all their bridges with me just yet. I played a fair bit of Cyberpunk at launch. It was a fun but janky as fuck game that didn't achieve much in the way of what they were promising. On the other hand they haven't abandoned the game just yet and seem to be making something far better than it was at launch (I know, it would be difficult to make it much worse).

Plus in the grand scheme of things they still haven't hit S-E levels of fuckery yet. However they no longer have the benefit of the doubt I once had for them and it won't be day and date for a long time for their games.

As to Sonty we klnow see a slight improvement on the 2 years (ish) release schedule up to at least a year (with the exception being GaaS games). If I was a cynical person I would say that it seems more to appease the hardcore and vocal fans. But that would be an idiotic way to make business decisions :grimacing-face:, Anyway, I excpect further down the line something along the lines of "Due to the success of our PC initiative we are picking up the pace on our PC production to within the year of release" and I wouldn't be surprised if we saw day and date release of Single Player games before the end of this generation.

I liked Cyberpunk, visually it was a treat but shelved it after 30ish hours with a view to go back to it when i had a beefier set up. That day has come so ill give it another go soon. Down for a sequel, if they can improve some of the janky areas it'll likely be pretty good.
