Good to know there is still some life left in Konami even if they are outsourcing most of this stuff.

Part of me was hoping they would get back with Kojima for the Silent Hills collab in some new swerve only for the sake of one day him doing a MGS6 on top of it.

But I guess that relationship is fucked forever and is never happening at this point.

I wonder what else they can do going forward. Maybe give Castlevania to FROMSOFT or give MGS some type of remake/remaster collection treatment. The Silent HIll rumors panned out eventually so I wonder if the MGS1 remake rumor is true as well. I'm scared to think what that will look like if they aren't gonna use all the OG VAs.

Started learning a new wargame a couple of days ago and was feeling nostalgic for the good old days when we used to get real manuals with games. So I went ahead and printed out the game manual for it. Aaron D. it wasn't quite as thick as a telephone book... maybe a third of that size, so I indulged and got a full colour print.

---

Anyway here's everyone's favorite forum game that I meant to post about 4 days ago but got lazy;

It's another edition of "Guess the peak CCU" for the next couple of weeks of release madness... Here are the most prominent games whose release is imminent that I can remember (not sorted in release order)

Sackboy
Gotham Knights
Victoria 3
Persona 5 Royal
Modern Warfare 2
New Tales from the Borderlands
Star Ocean 5

and as a bonus entry,

Spiderman Miles Morales

I'm confused about that supposed pee pee remake of Silent Hill 1 you're talking about, because if you mean Shattered Memories that's not really a proper remake of the first one :thinking-face:

Yeah, that's a weird reimagining of it, combined with a pretty interesting idea that combines elements from Silent Hill 3, like the presence of Heather.

Also, how bad can Shattered Memories be, if it gave us this:

Tree Tops in the first game was unbeatable for me, maybe 60fps worked? but 144 def didn't. Well, if 60fps worked well overall, I'd put it in the same rank as Crash.
Yeah I imagine if physics gets wonkier the higher you go at some point it's going to get impossible to progress.

It's always the physics.

I know reading youtube comments make you lose brain cells, but i had too have a look with SH2 Remake, and still there are people thinking this isn't day and date on PC. Even though it is in the trailer. Even the playstation writing on its main channel has the same wording as when Deathloop launched.

The new Plague Tale has amazing graphics. I'm playing on Xbox and am constantly impressed. I bet it's a looker with a 4090.

Sackboy - 2,000
Gotham Knights - 17,000 (EGS will siphon some users and it has fairly poor word of mouth).
Victoria 3 - 50,000
Persona 5 Royal - 15,000 (costing three times as much as P4G and Game Pass will make it significantly lower than P4G).
Modern Warfare 2 - 115,000 (Warzone 2 will be huge though. Could see it doing 400k-500k).
New Tales from the Borderlands - 3,000
Star Ocean 5 - 1,100
Spiderman Miles Morales - 25,000

Playing Dark Forces with TFE, at first it seems simple like Doom but the levels do increase in complexity, it has more 3D stuff & animated textures. Cool game.

It's not as fast as Doom, combat is nice & punchy feeling, killing stormtroopers and imperial officers of varying ranks (and some bots etc.) is always fun, like nazis.

I've been playing this game for the past few days and it's turning out to be pretty fun overall! A lovely person gifted it to me last week :steam_cleanseal:
Played about 2.5 hours on Deck and 4 hours or so via GFN on desktop. Runs pretty well on Deck and plays & pairs very nicely with using Deck's sleep/quick resume. I'm not really paying much attention to the story right now, mostly skipping dialogue but watching the few cutscenes.

Seems my YouTube career is over before it even began! I broke my front tooth today! Man it sucks getting old after spending ones youth not caring about mouth hygiene.
It's a longstanding MC tradition to chime in on teeth issues. :p So I'm here to wish you the best and hopefully a speedy fix!

Some old Dental receipts from one of my favorite threads on MC. April 2019 was a wild month. o_O

You'd probably never hear many kids say this, but if I could go back in time and MAKE my parents lord over me when it came to brushing teeth I totally would. As a kid, they gave me too much freedom on that and I didn't take it serious. So as a young adult I have suffered for my dental sins. In this regard, I truly truly wish my parents were more strict on watching me, and I wish I hadn't been such a dumb kid.

Edit: Also, just nice to go back and see all the nice comments of support. Y'all are too damn nice in this community when the chips are down. :cat-heart-blob:

Yep 100% this! I have thought about this so many times. Also about eating healthy in general, my mother made sure there was always candy, ice cream and soda at home... so no wonder I have weight issues today!

Still waiting for the next version of TFE with GPU rendered. The guy had some delays but it's nearly done.

At the moment, Townfall sounds the most promising. I enjoyed Stories Untold and Observation is currently on my backlog.

Bloober Team is a big wait and see for me. If they are only doing the tech side and aren’t aloud to touch the story then it could be good. Could.

TWEWY NEO. Looks interesting. But not £37 interesting and definitely not £50 interesting. Might bite around the sub £30 mark.

with their idiotic pricing I am kind of glad KH hasn’t released on Steam yet.

put about 5 hours into this so far. Been a cool game. Think Rimworld but set on a colony ship. The ship gets seriously damaged and it’s your job to rebuild the ship and start a new colony.

lots already in the game for an EA release. Deck verified but not given it a try on there yet.

Seems like a fairly faithful remake, at least the trailer showed a lot of famous scenes from the game.

I guess seeing the town with modern graphics is kinda interesting, but everything regarding the plot, the characters and story is already so well known. What's the point in revisiting it? Really doesn't strike me as anything interesting.
I dunno, I haven't played it in 20 years so I can't remember anything about it at all

Uncharted 1 though, has aged absolutely terribly and would put off a lot of people from the series. Was good at the time but is now a slog to get through.
Bundling 3 games in one package would make it easy purchase. And people already bought worse games. And Nate Drake collection fixed some of those issues and brought gameplay to similar level compared to 2 and 3.

Played it a couple of times, I think the last time was 10 years or so ago, and I think I still remember most of its plot beats. It is one of the best and most memorable games of all times to me.

I don't mind there being a decent remake of it. I simply doubt the remake will really stand up to the original, which I think is still pretty brilliant on PC, especially with the restoration mod.

If someone told me Kojima would meet a Telugu director and enjoy his film, I would not have believed you.

Absolutely PROUD as an Indian games enthusiast.

If you haven't watched RRR, fix that now and watch it. It's the best live-action video-game adaptation. It will give immense joy. It is on Netflix (unfortunately with Hindi dub)

I wonder how you could play TWEWY right now. Original hardware obviously, or the iOS port, sure. But what about Switch emulation ? I don't think it has traditional controller support, right ?

Jesus, I don't know why I care, I see screenshots and I'm reminded about how I hate that style. There must be a point where you are not open minded anymore but just wanting to follow the trends. Why am I like that.

Yeah, played the first 2 uncharted on ps4. Should not have chosen hard difficulty, makes it a slog to play. Story and character wise it's pretty good, graphically still looks ok, but the gameplay is pretty meh (for me). Feeling underwhelmed after finishing the 2nd one and couldn't muster the interest to play the third.

Kinda feel the same way with gears of war series on the xbox side too. Nice graphics and spectacles, boring gameplay after a while. Played 1, 4 and 5. never finished them, just got bored after awhile.

Maybe I'd feel different if I own a PS3/360 and play those games at their heyday., since I've played spec ops the line and tomb raider reboot at launch on PC and enjoyed them just fine.

I haven't watched RRR yet, heard it is bonkers so will definitely be in my list. That is good to see though with Kojima.

I unironically think the first Christophe Gans movie is the best film adaptation of a videogame
And he's the same director of Brotherhood of the Wolf, so we should thank him for Bloodborne too:grinning-face:
Unfortunate that all his projects seem to have petered out after a while. I don't love him, he is far more style than substance, but he was one of the only French genre filmmaker worth a damn.

I should watch that Silent Hill movie.

I don't give a fuck about the scores

It struggles to get above 60 fps on a 4090

fuck that
Well, the game isn't making much use of the GPU, looking at benchmarks. It seems when traversing the map the game is really not very intelligent about how it loads assets and thus you get terrible performance and stutters across the board.
Reminiscent of Arkham Knights on PC, actually. What is a bit surprising is that this is using Unreal Engine 4. I remember that Epic released this big demo when UE4 first came out to showcase how much better it was with open word stuff, so kinda surprising that Gotham Kinghts is struggling so hard here.
