That would be the first exclusive that outright annoys me. However a year isn’t really a long time and it’s not as if there aren’t tons of other good games being released all the time.

Space Marine that is, the NFT game can die a slow painful death on EGS as far as I am concerned.

People have grown up conditioned to undervalue any and all the work they do. That's how capitalists get away with reaping the profits from every else's labour.

It's good to see that artists are going against exploitative behaviours publicly.

Also, because people are secretive about money and earnings, IDK what an appropriate offer for a freelancer job is.

So the offer for$3k doesn't register as offensive to me, because I have no point of reference.

Epic will make magnitudes more than $3000 on that artist’s work. Probably tens of thousands more. The very least they can do is give the artist a sales projection and full copyright buy-out offer at a fair price, or let the artist earn on a fair cut of residuals.

$3000 is a joke for such a big game.

The wrappers give hints for the free games. As there are balloons, the first daily free game is probably Bloons TD6.

Also Epic would keep copyright of the image and the artist wouldn't be allowed to sell prints.

I thought I'd download Fortnite to see UE5/Nanite and if my system can even run any of it at least in a low fidelity game like this. Is there no launching the game from its store page, I had to go to my library and figure out the top search box is not where I'm supposed to type to search within that but the one on the right side. How weird. Also, the minimize to system tray setting doesn't appear to do anything, I get both system tray and task bar anyway. What's going on here? 🤷‍♂️

What’s going on is the launcher sucks.

I’m at the point where I’m tempted to just install Heroic on my PC just to avoid Epic’s (and GOG’s) bad design decisions.

Actually looking at that Crime Bross game, based on the store page, it's the perfect dudebro macho y'all qaeda game for internet edgelords that was actually suppose to release in 2013, but has been in dev hell ever since due to the dev money going to the actors.

Idk kinda feels like if Epic had Payday 3 as an exclusive they wouldn’t have money hatted this weird knock off. Prime Matter also lists Payday 3 in their Steam publisher page bio. But even if its exclusive it’ll just wait a year. It’ll have DLC, patches and a discount by then.

I was half joking. I know Starbreeze has specifically mentioned Steam as a launch platform for Payday 3, but at the same time I saw a post from them over a year ago where they mentioned they were negotiating with platforms for Payday 3 and talked about how Steam is really important to them. The tone of that post raised my eyebrows. FWIW, I think Payday 3 launches simultaneously on both Steam and EGS.

impossible , the studio formed in 2020 (former Vietcong/Mafia/Arma devs)

Unless it was i dev hell at 505 at other dev and was moved to Ingame

That was before Prime Matter. I assume they wanted to use a publisher that would publish the game on Steam, so they found Prime Matter.

Ironically reading the Steam reviews made me more interested in the game. I thought it was primarily a city builder but it appears to be closer in gameplay to Frostpunk. I think the negative Steam reviews are a situation where user expectations didn't match reality.

I thought people had stopped caring about EGS game ratings. Everything is almost a 5 there anyways.

I remember that they paid for some big(?) games to be on the store alongside the steam release, guess it's not a huge leap.
But that means that once they stop paying there won't be more cheevos
 
So essentially, the best thing indie devs should do is not do anything unless Epic pays you to do it. Heck, it is viable strategy to not release your game on the platform until Epic pays you to do so.

One of these was Cyberpunk, and if I recall, the game did not even sell better than the small advance Epic paid to have it released on EGS. Of course, this is years old info at this point.
