That's true, but it's also true that they released the steam version of FFVIIR almost exactly 6 months after the EGS version. So I guess we'll have to wait a nd see.

Probably because the wait from PlayStation to EGS was kinda nuts to begin with because of timed exclusivity + Intergrade version technicality. All in all, it was like 2 years from the initial launch to the Steam release. It felt like forever.
I really hope Rebirth isn't going to be that bad...

Browsing the Steam forums and reviews, and it looks like Returnal installs EOS, including the overaly. SteamDB shows an EOS installation script, so I guess it's true.
Epic forcing their overlay to be used on the Steam version seems pretty inconvenient to me. If it was the old version of EOS that didn't require an overlay then I would be fine with it. The latest version that requires installing Epic's software is an immediate no go for me.
I really want Returnal, but i can't bother right now with Yakuza Ishin releasing tomorrow and Atomic hearts and Bloodbowl 3 a week later
From what i saw game really looks like mix between PS3/X360 and PS4/X1 era game. Poor textures and models are kinda worst thing about it. And on top of that it runs badly on Deck while looking that "bad".
Another day without SMTV on steam, but one less day until RE4.
Another day without Code Veronica and Dino Crisis remake announcements.
Meanwhile the game that came out 5/6 years after them and doesn't really need a remake....gets a full blown remake
All the stuttering vanished after 1 min of gameplay in Returnal.

New characters, storyline continues, more dialogue, new craftables including larger storage options, more Scrooge store stuff, but also a new Premium store (I knew this was coming, but never was keen on it when I learned that the game will eventually be Free to Play).
Returnal seems really neat so far.
Love the movement and pacing. And I didn't even have an opportunity to play in coop yet, which was my main motivation for getting it.
The PC port also seems rather competent. Decent settings menu, it precompiles shaders (quickly), and the default mouse/kb controls work well. Ultrawide and HDR "just work" out of the box.
Also, DLSSTweaks seems to work to force DLAA. I'd post some impressive screenshots or something like that, but the SDR versions don't do them justice.
I do wish it had a higher volumetric quality settings, the volumetric effects are still very noticeably low-res on "Epic" in some cases.

Just have time to load up Returnal and play for a few minutes before I have to work. Glad to read the stutters will be gone after a while, hope that's true.
DLSS shimmering in depth of field is apparent in the first cutscene so I'll probably change the dll to 2.5.1/3.1.1 and see if that fixes it. Other than that 65-120 fps, 4K, epic settings, high ray tracing and dlss on balanced in the first few rooms for my 3080 12gb is a good sign. All the dualsense features is working as well. Can't wait to play it later.
