20 million is a massive number for a traditional (non-live-service) primarily single-player game which hasn't even been on any deep sales yet.

I want to see all people who complain this things stop playing Nintendo games, and buying all Nintendo consoles since 8,6% of that company is owned by a dictator assassin who treat lgtb people, women and journalists like subhuman trash.
I hope all those who did that campaign against Howgwarts Legacy start doing the same with Nintendo, the same for sponsors who now support that company.
yeah, right?
Cannot wait to read all hypocrite excuses on social media.
The same for Tintin comics cause Hergé was a Nazi collaboranist. Or Lord of the rings because Tolkien was a close to Francisco Franco spanish dictator. Or Schwarzenegger movies, because although he now seems quite left in politics terms he used to admire Franco as a anti communist figure, and this way a lot of works and their authours, or things made at a certain time.
I agree with the overall idea of this post.
The zealotry with which the overall Zeitgeist these days latches onto specific individual offenses -- which are frequently not, in and of themselves, any more or less severe than others that are ignored -- is misguided. I don't begrudge anyone guiding their actions/consumption by any ethical principles, of course, but I think aggressively demanding that others do the same for a selected subset of potential ethical issues or be judged doesn't really help the cause.
Especially once you realize that "there is no ethical consumption under capitalism" is not just a meme, at least when it comes to products of large companies or which involve a deep supply chain. Letting consumers shoulder the responsibility for making sure that companies act in an ethical manner provides an easy cop-out for the latter.

For some reason I was convinced Digimon was releasing next week.
But no, it's already out

Might get it for the weekend, but since I thought it was next week I'm in the middle of some games I wanna wrap up before.
Well, and I'll need to see how it runs on the Deck and at which price I could grab it. 50€ for a 7 year old Vita port is a bit of a tall ask, especially when Cyber Sleuth was 40€ for 2 games that were only 4.5 and 2 years old respectively at the time.

Checking the community hub, for some it runs fine on the Steam Deck, while for others it crashes.

The one that made the 2nd topic fixed his crashing issue by forcing it to use proton 6.3-8.

I'm not smart enough to argue about ethics. Also I'm a giant hypocrite because I'm typing this on a smartphone and drinking bubble tea from a single-use cup. But gaming is just a hobby for me. My personal entertainment is not worth the hurt to other people. I don't want my money to knowingly go to corporations or prominent individuals who are willfully shitty. (some who would love for me to not exist tbh)

I wish the discourse was less around whataboutism gotchas (so sick of eTHicaL conSuMPtioN in CaPITaLiSm being used to handwave stuff) and more about how as a consumer I can stay informed and also contribute to change.

Weird, but seems like it works fine with at most a small tweak.
Also found it for 33€ on cdkeys right now, which is a price I'm fine with so that's also nice.

Sure, informing people about social issues is right and I don't think people have a problem with it, outside the more extreme 'no politic' brain dead right wingers. I have personally an issue when you start judging and bullying people who do not follow the right 'way' once informed.

These are big issues, the more aware presents the problem to the masses, but they have to accept some people won't automatically follow. And it's okay, you don't have to win every battle to ultimately win a war.

Atomic Heart reached a concurrent peak of 38,469 players yesterday.

Top 15 games released in 2023 with the highest peaks so far (according to SteamDB).

Note: Omega Strikers isn't officially out yet. Those are beta numbers I imagine.

Strong chance of Sons of the Forest doing big numbers when it releases tomorrow.
looks bit different if you actually sort it by the peak with all 2023 releases

Kinda knew something was off. How were you able to show all 2023 releases? I just sorted by peak from this page.

Edit: Strange, still shows the same set of games for me after logging in.

Atelier games on sale eh. Since it's KT, Ryza is probably never going to be cheaper than this.
Hmm hmm. Now the question is, what's the cheapest way to get all the DLC. Or most of it. Deluxe edition seems to just have couple of character and hideout cosmetics that they don't sell otherwise & something called Initial Dash Item set and Extra Large Rebuild Gem Pack. Seems like some items to make the early game easier?

Season pass looks to have everything else listed on the store page individually, so that would be the way to go I think.

But anyone who played Ryza, can you comment on the two items in the deluxe edition? Do you get other, better dash shoes later, so it's just a boon for the early game? What about the gem pack? Just some resources I'm guessing.

Elden Ring will get to 30 million with rereleases and expansions. Its gonna be the best open world game for a long while and people will be coming back to it all the time.

The eventual sequel will be insane. The hype for that will be through the stratosphere.

i think it brings interesting question about what to do with such historical content

yes thereits only like fe second still clip from single episode of original 60s cartoon thats in the game (Nu Pagadi is for postsoviet sphere basically what Tom and Jerry was for the west) .... so they could have just easily not include this episode or slightly cut it

But there question at large remains .... if we should eradicate such historical content or keep it as a warning and conceptualize its creartion.
And not just your disney case , there quite a big number of old and loved horror movies that could easily be perceived as quite strongly offensive transphobic alegory .... and dozens of cases like that

Speaking of Tom and Jerry this is the route that they choose to follow and this is what I think others should do as well.

The shoes let you move around in the open world faster than normal. It's not a noticeable benefit but it's one of those things where in 15 hours of play you will technically save maybe 20 minutes because you were moving faster. You will eventually be able to craft better shoes to move even faster.

Gems are a late game item which allow you to duplicate and rebuild items you craft through alchemy. You can get them normally by destroying extra materials you find while gathering during the game. As a habit, you will be picking flowers, chopping trees, breaking rocks throughout the game and you will dump all those materials in your stash at your hideout. You'll have loads of spare stuff to convert to gems when the feature becomes available. This DLC just gives you a large chunk of gems to start out with but you can farm them later on if you really want them. It's also worth noting that this is advanced alchemy that is not actually required to beat the game. It's for the people who want to min-max their crafted items to get the absolute best possible stats on them. Maybe it's useful at higher difficulties or on that one DLC island which is designed to be extremely hard, but otherwise it's not a particularly useful thing.

Regarding Returnal, does anyone know how it does co-op scaling?

Because people are saying that the game is "easy", and having played exclusively in coop I don't agree, so I assume that there is some significant scaling at play. (At the very least, I'm almost certain that there has to be some, we can't be that bad :p)
It definitely has some significant scaling in coop. I soloed the whole thing then helped my buddy do the last 3 biomes and it can be much harder if both people aren’t pulling their weight.

Tomorrow is the PS state of play. If they do announce Half Life Alyx for PSVR2, hopefully it's saved for the end and not just thrown in the middle and it ending with them showing more gameplay of FFXVI or more resident evil stuff.

Also maybe we will finally hear about Bloodborne remastered.

Grim Guardians is out, with a small launch discount.

I'm really excited for it, co-op Metroidvanias are rare and Inti Creates is generally pretty great at 2D gameplay.
Inti region pricing is back too? :huhblob:

Gonna grab the game too. Played the demo on next fest and enjoyed it a lot.

I can understand many reasons for leaving this awesome community. But leaving because someone else has another opinion isn't one of them. 😟
I think when those opinions whitewash bigotry as their justification for playing a game I can see why someone wouldn’t want to be on here.

Let’s not trivialise this as a difference of opinion. Different people have different experiences of racism and bigotry towards themselves or their family and friends, and when those people are saying “this game has issues” and people leave replies like “fuck tha haters, I’m playing it anyway“ or “you’re just looking for any excuse to hate this game” that can come across as “you or your loved ones matter less than my personal entertainment”.

It’s not just a difference of opinion, it’s got more feelings tied up in it than that, and some people deal with those feelings differently to others.

Personally I’ve been using the ignore function on this forum for the first time since I joined, which in itself is personally disappointing. Naroh has instead chosen to leave - that’s their choice in the end and I think we shouldn’t just be chalking this up to difference of opinion.
