For the fans of survivors genre and bone-y jokes

this great one released recently from early access

Been playing a ton of this lately, can confirm its legit

Vampire Survivors, but you're a necromancer (so majority of your DPS comes from monsters you summon). Lots of fun tweaks to the usual formula! Some people may find the pixel art stylings hard to read or not to their taste, though.

Man, I'm so confused by what's happening with my cooler when playing TLoU. :huhblob:

I got the flashing red LED again just now. What's annoying is it causes me to lose control of the cooler in iCue, it just says "device operating in failsafe mode" no matter what I click on and I need to reboot. The thing is, looking at the alert settings for the cooler, none of them seem to actually be triggering. At 70C it's supposed to shut down the PC, which obviously hasn't happened. There's also one to turn all RGB LEDs red at 60C but it's off by default. Besides, I just tested it and it's definitely turning everything red whereas only the CPU cooler's plate is flashing red when I get the error.

Some googling tells me it can happen when the pump is failing but my temps are pretty normal when it happens (well, a bit high but normal for TLoU and definitely nothing to really worry about in general), so that's probably not it either. Gonna have to test with some other games but I'm starting to think it might not even be related to TLoU causing high temps...

Best Sci fi series ever.
It was until you finally realized that the Cylons did not, in fact, have a plan. Or rather that RDM was just winging it and had no idea how to finish the story. One could argue the writer's strike of 2007 got in the way but honestly that does not justify how poorly BSG ended.

Babylon 5 exists...
Now this here is an example of a man who did have a plan. Wrote out a full story from the start and executed it to perfection. I remember there was a B5 remake in the works but, of course, because good things are not allowed to happen in this world, that project is in dire straits according to the creator.

This came out yesterday. Looks interesting if you enjoy boomer shooters but I don't know if you want to buy this in early access. They've been working on it for more than 7 years and apparently only managed to get a third of the game ready for this release. They promise it'll be finished in a year but with that track record, I dunno....

Does any one here have experience renting a storage place? I am interested in doing that but I just don't know all the details. Typical do they lock you in to a contract and stuff like that? I mainly plan to just store boxes of my figures and stuff like that. So it would just be "empty" boxes that I would be storing. Are there any signs that I should worry about? Indoor vs outdoor (being able to drive up to the storage unit?) I'm very likely going to just keep the boxes as is and I won't be putting them inside of a bin. Should I buy a tarp or something to cover the boxes just in case it leaks water and stuff? And I'm guessing I wouldn't have to worry about rats and stuff eating the boxes.
It really depends on what you're storing
Some places are month by month or you can pay for a lot of months in advance
It's usually by square footage for the storage unit like an 8 ft x 8ft room or whatever a just standard small room size is

Then for indoor or "outdoor" ones it's a more of preference/cost/what you're storing. Indoor ones are basically you have a entire Warehouse that is housing all of the storage units and then it's climate controlled somewhat and don't have to worry about rain getting into the front of the storage unit or anything like that. Where a outdoor unit is the front door of the unit literally opens to outside so it's a lot more exposed to the elements

If it's straight up cardboard boxes I would get something between them and the ground and then if you're worried about them I would have something to cover them as well

That doesn't sound too good. I knew the old ones were bad but I kinda thought they fixed them. My old XBO controller I got when they first launched the receiver still holds up after all abuse I've conditioned it to. It's only the shitty micro-usb connector thats a bit wonky and I had to buy some new membrane for the button (ripped at the A button, works fine now). I was actually going to buy another custom controller as an extra but I'm gonna hold off on that now, haha.. :(
Yeah, it's so bad that Microsoft now offers an extended one year warranty* in the US (in the US!!! sadly, the land where consumer protection is often an abstract construct).

* "a small percentage of our customers are experiencing mechanical issues " my ass.

I think they are few shows that disappointed me harder with their ending than BSG. Like sure, there's a decline in quality, but god damn did that ending completely ruin everything else. Characters acting completely irrationally, the introduction of literal magic and angels (?) and just resolving everything by giving up everything they fought to preserve for literally years before.
I've watched through BSG 3 times, and I don't even remember the ending. My brain has blocked it out.

I guess I'm one of the few who loved the finale of BSG and Season 4 (my God, the Gaeta's mutiny).

I think the main problem, apart from the writers' strike, was that the show was so expensive and took so much time to direct, write and edit each season. For example, there are two child characters in season 1 that just disappear because the actors grew up too fast.

I've only watched a few TV shows, but I have a special place in my heart for BSG and Twin Peaks.

Speaking of Deadlock, it's a great game, there are some problems, but the idea behind it is quite original. A bigger budget would have made it a small masterpiece.

There's nothing wrong with the ending, it's sweet and ties everything nicely.
The problem was the writers strike that butchered the 2nd half of season 3 and how the series would evolve towards season 4 and the ending (the plan, the 5 secret cylons and other stuff).

Luis and Hunk melee attacks are hilarious (and op)

Also, I might try the Japanese VA for my professional difficulty playthrough.

That Japanese commercial (ad) was strange to me mainly because of the reviews. Is it common in Japan for their to be non Japanese media outlet reviews? Or is it because they are viewed as differently? Sush as being more about sharing news as opposed to sharing opinions? Since it's mainly Famitsu and Amazon reviews that tell you what people think about a game from what I have heard over the years.

Something I do find fascinating is how in Japan ,that the OG fans of the series prefer to play in English VA and younger fans like to play with JPN VA.

seeing how the series was originally only voiced in English

I picked up Dredge and played a couple of hours today and so far i like it a lot. Nice visuals and the gameplay loop is interesting enough to keep me on it. There is a bit of a story mystery evolving and there's quite a few upgrade/improvement options so i think it'll be a good little game. 15% off on GMG at the mo.

Now that Im done with VR games (for now, still interested in buying TWD Sinners 2, Fracked, Tentacular, Traffic Jams, What the Bat, The Light Brigade, Vertigo 2 and Red Matter 2, but later), my next games from my curated backlog will be The Quarry, Atomic Heart and Hogwarts Legacy.

The Benedict Fox Metroidvania game looks really fun and interesting. And something perfect for Deck.

Assuming its not too pricey and reviews well...I think I'll pick it up on Steam. I should be done with P3P by then as I am entering the final months of the story.

If the Benedict reviews are meh I'll just Gamepass it.

Speaking of which the next month of Gamepass is looking really hot with Minecraft Legends, Benedict Fox and Redfall. :sneaky:

Why the hell Sony ports have strange patching more often than not? Sackboy had to unpack entire game and patch it again so it took some time and now TLoU also needs to unpack entire game to patch it.

Noice, I cleaned my PC today, it was long overdue and my CPU must have been throttling hard because I was getting stutters in games like Resident Evil 4 Remake but now it's smooth sailing (same for Everspace 2 though that still gets some hitches here and there, Rem4ke is basically flawless so far instead).

Within reason of course, this is an aging setup with a dozen year old CPU and no SSD room for games. Still, I can probably stretch to 60fps with more lowered settings but I prefer higher settings and a lock to 30 here. Hair strands excluded, if I max it it hovers to 30 so it's probably not enough headroom left for busier scenes but just lowering one or two things from Max to High like the Shadows makes a big difference and it hovers at like 50 in the village area so hopefully that's enough for a solid lock to 30 without issues throughout the rest of the game (or maybe lock to 40 or 45 with an external fps limiter instead of the game's).

The 4k cut scenes work flawlessly too now, previously they chugged like crazy and I blamed Capcom for being too incompetent to make a lightweight video player within the game lol, I didn't think it was that bad but it was (or maybe some patches since launch helped too). I guess I don't need an SSD as badly.

Installed the new TLOU patch to see if it improved performance. It didn't.

I still finished the main campaign tho. Just wanted to feel like I didn't waste my money by buying this awful port. Game is good, gameplay is kind of mediocre, characters are great, but the performance issues make it an absolute chore. I beat it because I'm a masochist, but judging from the achievement, this game has a completion rate of 8% which is not surprising.

BSG was very uneven.
One thing that wasn't uneven was the soundtrack though.

That was ridiculous. My neighbors will be sending your their complaints.

Almost makes me want to do a rewatch. I watched BSG back in the day, but gave up somewhere in season 3.

I was replacing fuses in my house and everything went fine until I turned on my PC. Then PSU blew up... Everything else on that extension cord (monitor and router) is fine. So now I am waiting for new PSU and thinking what could go wrong. PC worked this morning on old fuses (but those fuses were old and bad quality and i replacedthem with ones that are way better quality). I just hope that it is just PSU that went out (EVGA G3 750W) and not anything else.

Went out for a few drinks with friends last night, and upon returning home I found myself bamboozled into updating to Windows 11.

Is everything going to be ok? I’m at work and haven’t had the chance to look at it yet. :(

As long as you like rounded corners, you should be ok. If not, then I have some bad news for you.

Easier comparison

Arguably, the images also make a strong point that normal RT is "good enough" in many scenes. At least when you consider the super high cost something like path tracing has to have.
Of course I do appreciate the improvements here, all objects actually feel like they are properly situated in the scenes, none of that "floaty" look you get with rasterised rendering methods. But I don't think the hardware is quite there yet, even with DLSS. Maybe once ray tracing power of something like the 4090 becomes the floor you can expect to get from pretty much any gaming device, then it might be feasible to actually ship this tech in more games.

The biggest thing that is making me avoid Win11 for now is the lack of options to never combine taskbar items and to show labels.
For example, for my work I need multiple command lines open, in Win11 there's no options to show them as in the following pic, instead they're all combined into a single icon:

I know there's 3rd party tools for this, but I'd rather not have to use them.
At least people have found strings in recent insider versions related to these features, which could mean that they could be in the works to be brought back in the future.
