It took Guerrilla like 4 months to fix horizon FW's completely busted performance mode and this is SE we're talking about so I don't expect it'll get fixed at all unless sony pays them to do a Pro patch I guess. This was the one shot we had. I was surprised they even addressed it at all on twitter lol
Yeah but it also said something like "An Untold Shin Megami Tensei V story", which seemed like it could imply an entirely new game. But you're probably right. All the signs prior to this pointed at an expanded rerelease. It's coming out almost 3 years after the original release, so I guess they might have added quite a bit of story content to it.

Great Nintendo Direct, love to see stuff like Endless Ocean (even though it's randomly generated and online geared this time) and Penny's Big Breakaway (3D platformer by Sonic Mania dev). Great to have SMTV on PC too, weird wording doesn't quite say if its the original + more or a separate story like the two SMTIV entries but going multiplat with it would imply the former. Or maybe it started as a revision/deluxe version but eventually changed to a full retcon/new thing?

ATLUS can't remake/remaster a game without adding a new waifus. Otherwise the game wouldn't sell. It's simple math really even though adding a new waifus can ruin the game no?

Didn't the last SAO game bomb or something and having simps on it is a mixed bag, some of their stuff is good other stuff didn't work out in the end. SAO FB did sell well years ago from what I heard.

Ah, that would explain the confusing messaging. It sounds like you can play the game as originally released or choose the route with the new story elements. Kind of a weird way to do it but having the choice is cool, I guess. Wonder if they'll recommend playing the original route first for new players.

The DLC page popped into existence a few minutes after the trailer finished, for me (France), but don't go hollow before giving it at least a workday.

I'm getting "old Raya Lucaria" vibes from some trailer locations (and fits "losing side of [the] war"), but I can't make sense of it in context. "Messmer" may fit Miquella; same theme as St Trina. edit: Miquella + Formless Mother's flames (via Mogh) = Messmer?
They already did it with Nocturne, which on pc let's you play the 3 versions assuming you bought the maniax's/Dante DLC

This new game is being developed by DIMPS, same studio as Fatal Bullet, unlike the last 2 releases which were developed by Aquria.
At this point I'm convinced there's someone at FROM or Bandai Namco whose entire job is choosing who they're going to bully this time.
A situation like SMT4: Apocalypse then.
One one hand, it's fantastic if you buy SMT5V, you get the base game and the stand alone for the price of one.
On the other hand, why can't this be bought as DLC if you already have it?
I know that it's to make more money for Atlus but still.

I really love how Nintendo directs have pretty much become a PC direct as well.
It's weird because I did buy Elden Ring normally back when it first came out, but ever since mid 2022 most new Bamco releases are being blocked in my country. Elden Ring store page is not longer available to me, but I can still play it since I bought it before this mass blocking. Hopefully, I'll be able to buy the DLC but I wouldn't hold my breath tbh.
Never played the original, but I suspect its flaws are too drastic to be fixed here; still, at least they're making some changes to the gameplay and not just doing a 1:1 recreation with improved visuals

2024 is so far proving to be a good year for "Games where only the sequel made it to Steam". Just this month we got Dragon Quest Builders 1 and announcements for Monster Hunter Stories 1 and Epic Mickey 1. Is this the year we finally get RE Code Veronica? Dragon Quest 1 through 9?!
