I thought Larian had said they were probably gonna go back to Divinity stuff rather than BG4.

I don't find that surprising at all.

Larian is moving on from D&D and won't be doing BG4 or any DLC/expansions for BG3. All of which is pretty disappointing news.
I feel like this was known for a while.
As much as I loved BG3 I want them to move away from an established IP and ruleset because, as the D:OS games showed us, they thrive in that environment. Let them cook in peace, they earned the right to do whatever they want.

I have a steam vn. I have an uncensor patch with a main folder and a .bat
I… have no idea how to patch the vn on deck :confounded-face:
I googled a bit to see how .bat files are run on linux – someone suggested to add it as a non-steam-game. i dunno however if that works with bat files. the idea would be roughly, to go into desktop mode;open steam, duh; add a non-steam game; navigate to the .bat file, select it, then make sure its all in quotes, and that the Target and the Start In fields match, eg.

Target:
"/home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/yourgame/yourpatch.bat"

Start In:
"/home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/yourgame/"
if that doesnt work, open the bat with a text editor and see what its supposed to do

I grew up loving D&D, and I was really hoping we would see more of it, is all.

I loved DOS2 despite it's ruleset. The freedom to approach things however you wanted and the hijinks you could get into wallpapered over a lot of stuff I didn't like(loot, character progression, the armor system, etc...). I also just didn't find their world very interesting. The characters? Sure. But the setting was forgettable to me.

I'd be happier if they did something completely new over revisiting Rivellon, tbh. Maybe something sci-fi?

A sci-fi Larian game would be pretty interesting.
The high-tech-steampunk-y level of technology in Dragon Commander was pretty interesting too. In fact, all of Dragon Commander was very interesting, they should make something like that again.

Seems like Alexandros was spot on with his prediction.

There's nothing about Baldurs Gate 3 that can't be replicated in a new Setting or Divinity.

Divinity was already extremely systematic, and all Baldurs Gate 3 did was add even more of that + extremely well written characters + a shitton of money in the presentation.

I have no doubts that in the wake of Stranger Things, DnD licensing helped the game reach additional audiences, but now that they have that audience, just saying "from the developers of baldurs gate 3" will be enough.

That said, i would have certainly been hyped about an Expansion to give me more of my girl

Here's a video from GDC where Swen talks about it. Very interesting stuff!

So BG3 was always intended as a stepping stone on the way to what Swen calls "The Very Big RPG that Will Dwarf Them All.". Swen also says their next game will also be building towards that. He says he considered doing DLC/expansions/sequels but ambition made him return to his original plan. You have to respect that!

He also talks about wanting to get back to ~4 year development cycles.

WotC/Hasbro does own multiple videogame studios. They should probably license out the engine and have someone work on Baldur's Gate 4 though who knows if they have the time and funds to make a sequel people will be happy with. Hasbro isn't in the best financial shape.

I would love that, though I don't know if there are many studious who could do it justice.

There are supposedly 20+ videogames in development that are using the D&D license, but I imagine they'll all be like this:

I finally got the Steam Deck dock. While not as simple to use as a console, there was less friction setting it up than I had imagined. I did have to update my Xbox controller's firmware to the latest version so the Bluetooth would recognize it and lower the display output so it wouldn't die while trying to run games in native 4K, but otherwise it was pretty easy to use. I obviously know the Deck's limits and am going to stick to older and simple 2D games, but the overall experience is rather nice.

It's definitely going to be my primary JRPG and indie machine for the time being.

I don't think Horizon does nearly that well. It doesn't have the novelty of being the first Playstation game on PC and Dragon's Dogma 2 releases like 9 hours later. Maybe 20-25k at best.

Horizon 2 PC version is essentially perfect in my experience at least. So smooth, good looking, with zero issues.
I like Nixxes! Then again, I have always liked them. since their Legacy of Kain days, when it was just Jurjen Katsman.

Horizon 2 runs nicely on Deck, but not yet on my Linux laptop
Immediately got hooked again :D
Good to hear.
I wonder how Burning Shores performs though. That was PS5 only.

I'm glad Nixxes are in charge of Tsushima, I love that game and I'm looking forward to playing it on the Deck.

Weird that Panzer Dragoon Remake is listed as unsupported on Deck. Played through it and it ran flawlessly from start to finish. Looks gorgeous on the oled.

SMTV's price on CDkeys has been alternating between 45.99 and 54.99 on a daily basis for more than a week. WTF?

I would guess a potential Baldur's Gate 4 would need more time in the oven than Baldur's Gate 3 for most studios if they really wanted to do justice to it and I don't know if Hasbro/Wizards would allow that unfortunately.

Horizon 2 peak is pretty underwhelming, but I guess launching next to DD2 and right after spring sale ended, it should not be that surprising.

I wonder what DD2 peak will be. There I estimate 220K, despite its horrible performance and bugs (and there seem to be plenty, as described in PCG review).

Anime foil card? How much you get for it? I think the highest I got out of a foil was $5
Can't be bother to check what game card but it was less than $2.

En Garde! was less than $5 regionally, just enough wallet remaining after farming my cards earlier and buying the mankind divided season pass.

Forbidden West has a cloud graphic settings for some reason. Picking the hardest difficulty and it was indeed hard. Gotta stealth my way for most of the encounter so far. The FSR3 frame gen mod works fine so far as well. Hope they'll put in FSR 3.1 in the future.

Only 76 metacritic for Rise of Ronin. Kind of disappointing.

Looks like biggest knock is bloated Ubi world map and meaningless loot. Combat seems to be praised somewhat but there is difficulty to it. Being PS5 exclusive for now and 70$ will most likely underperform too.

Wo Long was 80. Stranger of Paradise was 72.

Team NInja been very mid ever since Nioh 2. I know the reaction is...they should have just made Nioh 3, 4 and 5 instead but honestly I can't blame them not making same game over and over again. Nioh 2 was very derivative of the first. I guess you have to give them props for doing different things but yea I wish they would make a Nioh 3 lol.

But almost certainly they are now doing a Ninja Gaiden reboot. I believe it they hinted towards something like that a few years back.

I'm curious what a modern day new Ninja Gaiden looks/plays like. A lot of potential there but Team Ninja definitely needs to go crazy and be ambitious with it.

Let's be real, all of the problems reviewers find in Ronin, they were "invented" by Nioh.
The garbage loot that nukes progression, the poor level design with worthless exploration because of said loot, the over reliance on hard bosses to be like all souls games, and I'll add the complete nonsense story... Team Ninja games have been just bad experiences since 2017.

And the thing is, I still remember the release of Ninja Gaiden 2 (and the various Sigma versions, too) when they were frequently criticized for encounter design issues, something that is still here today (the missile dudes out of screen comes to mind here), as well as poor optimization... also still here.

And that's without talking about their laughable games like Ninja Gaiden 3, Z, Dissidia 3, Metroid Other M and a lot of games dragging their 50-something metacritic.

Team Ninja was always, and will always be a bad developer making bad games, with some nuggets of brilliance in the turd pipeline.

Screw EA. I'm trying to play Titanfall2 in Steam and I have to try work arounds just to get it to work. It's dumb.

I have to somehow dowload Origin and use the Screw off EA App

Counterpoint - We should be happy devs aren't slaving away to make DLCs.
Remember we used to hate them? What happened to releasing full, complete experience at launch?

I'm happy for Larian, the devs don't have to suffer burnout working on the same game.

DD2 could easily be a GOTY contender apparently. However, I don't want to be the doomsday guy here but, the terrible technical state the game launched in, the 70$ price tag, the absolutely baffling implementation of mtx, and the whole mod blocking software fiasco from a couple of weeks back makes me think that this could be one of the last Capcom hits before the default into their shitty state they were back in 2012.

187K huh, not that far from my estimated 220K. I bet they could have reached it and exceeded it if the technical state was better and there were no MTX and Denuvo.

I think there may also be a few background issues as well that may put Larian off future D&D games. For a start, I believe, you can only make games set around Fae’run. They don’t allow you to licence their more exotic settings.

I also wonder if the licencing costs may have gone up. Hasbro is in a bad way at the moment and, even though WotC are one of their cash cows, they have been heavily cut in recent months. I could see the licensing costs going up, especially after the success of BG3.

Not fully hyped by DD2 (I didn't play DD1), it's fucking unfortunate there is no demo to gauge the perf on one's own system.

Seriously though, I'm fine with BG3 being done. I really just want more D&D games of the same quality as BG3 and I'm doubtful that anyone else could pull it off like Larian did.

Oh no, seems the gaming store where I ordered DD2 is slow with delivery, it's not even on its way yet. I thought they guaranteed day one, since I have it to pick up in their store, hell the game is on shelves in the store but I have to wait for the package to be delivered. Makes no sense, how did they not just send my copy together with all the other copies that went to the store.:confounded-face:

lol never mind, just got an email that the game was waiting for me in the store.
