Black Myth looks very good, might day 1 it.

Still, my most anticipated upcoming releases are still What the Car and Antonblast. Still though, many other games that looks really good.

The show had something for everyone. We already knew there wouldn't be big surprises.

Ever since Black Myth's initial reveal I said it had potential to be one of the games of this generation and I'm more convinced every time I see it.

Phantom Blade 0 looks great as well.

Jeanne D'Arc was one of my favorite games on the PSP, started playing it on the Deck and having a great time revisiting it. Already dreading THAT moment in the story.

Im honestly suprised at the negative reactions towards Geoff's Show.I thought it was good.

I guess if you are mainly into big 100m+ dollar tentpole releases, it might not have been good.

However as someone who likes video games in general, it was good.

Indies is the best about the industry nowadays.

So the humble choice discount that one has after being member for awhile, is kind of a scam right? Because games on sale even when with that extra discount don't go lower than a sale has been on steam

I've seen pretty much every shitty conf since they were online (Konami E3 2010, never forget), and that SGF was maybe the worst I've ever seen.

Absolute dog shit pacing, pointless interventions from the presenters, all too often shotgunning potentially interesting games like the six Blumhouse announcements while spending a lot of time on boring dregs hero shooters, extraction shooters, "tactical" shooters, or more copy/pasted souls-likes, and it's not like the problem was indies: it was that they were boring indies that fell right into all the most painful AAA tropes of cinematic action or streamer bait and me-too copies like Cairn... and topping it off with a mountain of CGI or paid anime studios intros... for games that look like rubbish like that RTS or the Dune survival game. Clearly, there is a budget, but it sure as hell isn't invested into the games themselves.
And that Civ 7 teaser was garbage compared to every Civ teaser we've ever had, which applied to a lot of bigger games that just receive much worse showings than they did before like MH Wilds and Metaphor.

The Guerilla Collective direct was a thousand times better, didn't waste time on ads for that Clash of Clan wannabe, and did show far more varied games, and ones that were not just half scams and half GaaS updates.

I remember when I didn't have my new CPU, the game would shit the bed every-time I got to a town (and apparently the new town is way bigger). Now my GPU is behind (2060S) so I'm ready for forests to tank my fps especially as consoles have a 30fps cap. Definitely still buying though, as the original game was one of my most immersive experiences.
Yeah we should expect this to be demanding on both the CPU and GPU.

I finished my Elden Ring RL1 solo challenge run.

Now I just have to resist the temptation of watching all the DLC preview videos that are out and spoiling myself. I regret, in retrospect, having seen half of Limgrave and Liurnia before ER even launched.

There is no doubt at this point that the DLC is going to be good, and that's all I need to know.

I might in the meantime take a second look at Lords of the Fallen (2023); I understand that there have been some significant updates since launch. I'm not sure -- in fact I kinda doubt -- they will solve the main issues I had with that game (excessive griminess of the looks, excessive mob density even in the first level,...) , but with better performance and QoL it might become tolerable.

My wishlist already went from 953 ==> 990 in last few days.

And still a bunch of shows today like Wholesome and Future game show.

And tomorrow Xbox + PC gamer.

The 3 best ones so far revealed that I want are UFO 50, Metaphor and Tenjutsu.

Some other small stuff like Chainstaff and Pinball Spire too look amazing too.

That Capcom Path of the Goddess looks interesting as well and it looks like a perfect Gamepass game next month.

Holy shit. I thought Black Myth Wukong system requirements were high, but I didn't realize those settings we with DLSS/FSR ENABLED, so probably that game is impossible to run without upscalers lol.

Not to mention this is the first game I see recommending 16 GB of VRAM and 32 GB of system RAM for the highest preset. That's insanity.

I saw the YT recap for SGF was like 4 hours long and noped out... I mean, I'd love to chat and react live with you guys, but 4 frickin' hours ON A WORK DAY?? It's too much. Got shit to do and games to PLAY.

So just headlines and store-pages for me. These things are getting ridiculous. Or maybe I'm just getting old and selfish with my time idk. Dorito's pope has no sway over me. :dualbladesblob:

Is TT games making Lego games anymore? It looks like other studios make them nowadays.
From what I remember they lost the license. Previously it was TT/WB that had the exclusive license to make them but then Lego choose to not make exclusive stuff with them anymore which is why you have LEGO Fortnite, you also have LEGO 2K Racing. And now Lego Horizon. That's not to say that you couldn't have LEGO stuff in games, suck as with Lego Forza, but they weren't making full games with it left and right.

Happy news, I'm going to attend a John Williams concert at the Hollywood bowl. Yeah!!!

I guess that is technically true, it did have 1 thing I thought was interesting lol.

But man that was a painful show to sit through. I don't blame geoff he basically laid it all out for us in that pre show twitch stream when he was saying things like the show was only a 8 to him personally and how it was mostly existing games. People have to learn how to read between the lines and parse what people are really saying when they say things like this.

That being said it didn't make the 2 hours easier to sit through. Between that and the sony show it really feels like this industry is running on fumes at the moment, they just don't have anything remotely interesting ready to show.

Feels like AAA games are gonna move away from Keighley. Not that he ever had many of them but I feel going forward its gonna be much less.

They take too long to make so generations now are gonna have more dry years.

Indies/F2P/EarlyAccess/GaaS.

That seems like the sweetspot for SGF and PCgamer shows.

Its all really on Xbox and Sony to have a big showing for AAA stuff. We see Sony is gonna have dry years and other years when they just focus on GaaS/PC.

So Xbox tomorrow will probably provide that AAA megaton reveals that all the traditional fanboys want. Especially now they push PS5 and Switch versions of their games its pretty much gonna be the go to showcase imo.

We're in trouble if we have to rely on xbox to provide megatons, something they've historically rarely ever had lol.

Xbox will definitely show a few third-party AAA games, but they are going to be years away. First-party-wise, DOOM should be the big game as ID usually reveal a game when it is done. Gears 6 or collection should come as well but I am not sure if the former will release in 2024. Other than these, I look forward to seeing Indiana Jones. I would love to play an adventure game with high budget.

big budget games take forever to make nowadays and there's only so many studios making them(especially if you don't wanna count GAAS stuff)

the math just isn't there for them to be at every major showcase like people want

Most of AAAs are boring nowadays anyway, so who gives a shit.
You can say that but these shows that everyone on the internet is upset about were full of indies and some AA games. None of these things gets anyone the slightest bit excited about gaming.

Not sure if people here are following this or not, but I wanted to point to this Kickstarter:

It's by two principal developers behind Elder Scrolls Daggerfall. They basically want to do a spiritual sequel to that one, but built on modern tech, with fully 3D environments. Just as a warning here: this means that, like Daggerfall, a lot of stuff will be procedurally generated. There's clearly still authored story content, but it will be fleshed out by things generated automatically. Of course the risk here is that this ends up as boring as the Radiant AI nonsense in Skyrim, but I think the two developers here and the team they gathered does deserve the benefit of the doubt here.

Still time to back this if anyone is interested.

I'm still not sure how you can say such obviously, objectively, easily demonstrably wrong things with a straight face.

When you look at the break-out "surprise" hits of the past few years in gaming, then the vast majority of them have, in fact, been in the indie to AA space. While the vast majority of AAA+ games only manage to hold on to the same, sizeable but aging, audience that they therefore seek to extract ever-more money per game from (the same stagnating audience which is way too invested in these events and gets upset about their content). And based on this reality you claim that no one gets excited about the games that frequently manage to succeed beyond all expectations?
