I've heard good things about Phantom Brave, and it looks like it should work well as a portable Steam Link App title.

Phantom Brave is legit, I owned the Wii version back in the day. For $5 I couldn't resist.

This damn Japanese games sale... Star Wars too... Valve is out to get me.

Steam's off-topic review bomb filter for Rocket League:

I very much believe that Steam's user reviews are extremely useful. They've helped me decide on countless purchases. An overall score of "Mixed" has never swayed me away from a game I really wanted. Lately, I've been reading in other places how Steam should abolish user reviews because of review bombing. I definitely think that's the wrong mindset to have. Anything that can help the customer make an informed decision is a good thing.

I'm earnestly curious to see if Psyonix will actually get around to making something other than Rocket League now that Epic owns 'em, or if they're just going to keep riding that DLC train forever. Rocket League no longer being on the Steam store is a bummer, no doubt, but a new game from the developers of Rocket League will be difficult to not be tempted by,

If the game gets removed from Steam and EGS doesn't have workshop support in time. Will that kill workshop? Seems ontopic to me.

Sonic-ey game coming soon ... old trailer for now

Holy shit this is coming out? Sonic After/Before the Sequel is amazing and I loved the first one. Definitely down for anything he makes.

Especially if his games keep having banging soundtracks. Day fucking one regardless.

I assume workshop will be kept around since it's not like they'll actually delete the game from Steam, just stop it from being sold there.

Ok, I give up with One Finger Death Punch 2 😒

Thr game's difficulty curve is practically flat all the way through to the point of monotony until the very end when it becomes cliff like.

The final levels are just plain nutty in sheer enemy numbers and speed, with no option to use the revenge tokens that have been pointless until now.
Don't think I'll be even able to finish this one sadly 😕

In the April thread (link) I shared my discovery of Splitgate a "Portal meets Unreal Tournament" competitive shooter.

Well, I subscribed to their mailing list and I just got an e-mail about an open beta on Steam!
The Beta test starts Friday the 3rd at 9:00am PST and ends at 11:59 PM PST on Monday the 6th

Here's the link to the store page:

Edit: it's 17 gigs, for those who might care/wonder.

Edit2:
According to Microsoft watcher Paul Thurrott, UWP is "game over":

Thurrott: It's "Game Over", "UWP will disappear" - MSPoweruser

Let's hope this also means that Microsofts upcoming games will be released as unencrypted win32 games as well.
A thumbs up doesn't convey my feelings accurately enough.

IIRC they said a while back they were planning on moving away from UWP, at least for gaming. I wonder if the Win10 version of MCC will be UWP.

Perhaps the WinStore version. The Steam version supports Windows 7 so that one won't be UWP. Still no word about game file encryption tho.

And yes, there are rumors that Microsoft is working on Game Core for gaming on both PC and Xbox consoles. It's supposed to be based on UWP, but that's all we know.

There is (sadly) no way in heck MicroSoft gives up completely the idea or work on a unified program base that works on both PC and Xbox. I think the idea is that they will simply make a game once, and it'll work on both without the need for too much tinkering.

Really sucks for those of us who like to hook games with RTS and ReShade, stuff like that. Last UWP game I played was Gears of War 4, and on the tech side it was pretty good, lots of options and stuff, but it just feels weird to be restricted like that...

Under the new leadership, Microsoft seems to be moving away from the concept of having to own their own OS and making everyone use their devices and whatnot. They'll not abandon Windows as long as it's a major cash cow, but as time goes on, I assume their cloud and services business will become more and more important.

I basically see them slowly diminish in importance, like IBM before them. Never going away, but at the same time, little more than a historical footnote.

Unconfirmed. Leaked from Facebook, I found it on Reddit
Next Monthly reveal might be Call of Duty Black Ops 4

Too many months with non Steam game early reveal if this is true :(
Let's hope that this leak is false
:negative-blob:

it's probably true ... the game is basically dead on PC ... not being on steam only made it worse when it comes to player numbers

The horde mode would've been the one thing I was interested in, but that's not in the Battle Edition. Clever.

reposting from the Epic Stroe thread :p

Sweeney: Epic is thrilled with everything Microsoft is doing and we feel that we couldn’t be happier with the directions they’ve taken on all their platforms. There’s HoloLens, now an open platform. There’s Windows, a completely open platform. And Microsoft is launching new Microsoft services of all sorts through the Windows Store. And then there’s also Microsoft Game Pass. And those are existing side by side with everybody else’s services. And it’s a really healthy ecosystem, which everybody participates in.

Epic loves Microsoft. Epic hearts Microsoft.

Since my Xbox Elite controller is falling apart... I have gone back to using the Steam Controller a bit more for games like Warframe and Division 2 and I really, really want a new iteration from Valve. The aiming is so good but the ergonomics aren't that great for me and it also seems to show a bit of wear already.

Same. It feels like something that could really be amazing in a "mark 2". But Valve doesn't seem to want to iterate on much anymore.
