People that are pointing to Steam Machines and how they failed and how Steam Machines 2.0 will also fail, have not been paying much attention to Steam Deck.

Has the Steam Deck sold over 10+ million units? No. But isn't it very strange how despite that major video game publishers are using it to promote their games, despite how it's been out for a few years now? Had it been a complete flop they all would have moved on. But they haven't.

Does the Steam Deck have issues? Yes, did Vake expect games to be as poorly optimized as they currently are? I'm guessing not. But maybe Steam Deck 2.0 will try to solve some of that.

Valve much has learned and done something right this time.
The thing is that Steambox 2 does not need to sell PS5 numbers to be successful. They only need to keep expanding the Steam ecosystem like Microsoft is doing with Xbox.

It's more linear than I thought. I feel bored with the gameplay, but I'm enjoying the story.
I see, thanks! For some reason I can't quite pinpoint yet I have zero interest in the series and I am hoping that other people can help me figure it out.

Indeed. Valve's strategy is different from that of a console maker and people don't quite get it yet. Steam is an ecosystem with multiple entry points and Valve is creating even more of them. If rumors and leaks are to be believed, one day you might be able to access Steam from Windows, Linux, handhelds, VR headsets, consoles and even mobile devices (since this is what ProtonARM is strongly hinting at). Your games library following you and being available across so many form factors would be a unique selling point that no one else could match.

I'm going to keep playing it because I bought it for $20, but I don't know if God of War is really my type of game.
Yea the game is very mid.

Its a slow burn and very linear. Not for everyone.

I didn't like it. At least not enough to even care for Ragnarok. It doesn't help that Ragnarok just looks like the same game. I'll still pick it up down the line very cheap and maybe play through it but this was one of the few rare times where I played a game to conclusion and didn't care about the sequel reveal/launch.

If the mobile thing is true, that will be pretty big.

oh didn’t know god of war was so linear, I have quite an allergy for linear games so might skip them.

ghost of Tsushima I’m hyped for though!
Its not entirely linear. There are some semi open world hubs that let you wonder off and do sidequests....

but it still feels very linear when you are done with the game. The way the narrative and story progresses. It makes it all feel like you are playing Hellblade or other games like it. Everything is designed as a long slow journey and not really to give you freedom.

As yuraya said, it’s not a linear game on the surface. It’s in effect a bad open world which leaves you the feeling it may as well be a linear game.
It‘s also a mediocre metroidvania, a mediocre hack & slash with bad skill trees and a vaguely interesting but slow story.

Welp, just saw that barter.vg is removing trading in a couple of weeks, which might as well be them shutting down since that's what I would guess most people used the site for.
It was incredibly useful to be able to trade your extra games from bundles and finding matches is what really made them stand above the competition.
I'm curious if there are any good alternatives. Saw a couple of people mention lestrades in the comments but I have no idea how legit they are.

They are exaggerating. The game has optional areas and side quests. Ragnarok expands more on this, with some relatively big hubs with lots of branches and hidden areas. For me it struck a perfect balance between not being too linear while also not being too big. I had a blast exploring each of the realms.
The first game is more constrained but the story and characters are really good and the combat is really solid. The camera takes some getting used to but it's well worth it.
The old GoWs were completely linear but these new ones are nothing like that.

Nice first approach with POE2. I'm screaming at my screen. It's 20fucking24 and they don't have a serial number system for characters.

Reddit makes me feel like people are becoming unable to do anything without instructions anymore.
"I'm going to a concert. What should I know? What do I need?"
"I'm starting this videogame. What should I know? Will I have fun?"

Jesus Christ.
Reminds me off that Game of Thrones scene where Sam manages to remove Jorahs greyscale, the "master" maester is shocked by this and Sams answer on how he did it was "I simply followed the instructions".

I kind of get it, its not that wouldn't be able to do it, its more about just getting aware or learning beforehand. One obvious example would be travel, I can see myself very much making a post like that.

Remember how i mentioned secret project that i am working on? I am now at the point where project is like 80-85% finished and i am mostly done with it for this year so i guess it is time to reveal it. So remember when i said that i won't buy games for the rest of the year and maybe get new 3D printer for Christmas? Well i actually did get new 3D printer. But when i started thinking about new printer few months ago but i was having issue of where to actually put it, because setup i had at that time was annoying and not that good, so getting new 3D printer would barely improve that. But idea was to get 3D printer and then solve the issue. Then i actually started thinking more about it and at one point i said F-it and decided to spend even more money XD So you wonder what i did? I actually went and designed and rebuilt my working desk/home office/battle station. And that is what i have been working for past few months because i decided to design and make everything by myself. So basically everything you see on the photo below is custom made.

As i said everything except those panels behind monitor is custom made. Shelves and desk top are laminated oak boards that i glued, cut and finished. cabinets are from melamine (with higher end finish, for example drawer fronts and cabinet doors are from material that doesn't leave fingerprints). Bottom cabinets and desk are bolted to the wall using steel construction that i designed, ordered steel, cut and welded together (pray for the welds to hold, it was my first major welding work XD). entire thing is bolted with anker screws that each can hold at least 50kg (and i used 6 of them, per cabinet XD). Panels behind screen are not fixed to the wall, there are 3 strips of OSB board that are fixed for the ceiling and held with aluminum profile at the bottom (that black strip above desk), and that profile is fixed to the desk with special mounts that i designed and printed. This was done because i wanted space behind panels where i can rout cables from the attic and i didn't want to ruin wallpaper behind panels if i ever want to change background. And one of the best tings about new desk is that it was designed to be able to hide cables as much as possible so as you can see you barely can see any cables :D

As i said it is 80-85% finished because there are few more smaller things to add. There is steel frame that was intended to be visual addition and support for that board where PC case stands to prevent warping. For now i didn't bother with lighting (and es that is monitor LED light bar that i am using to lower desk clutter), i need to figure out what to put on that left side of the desk (one thing will probably be nice stand for that Quest 2 that is on the shelf), there should be some posters/art on those panels behind monitor, i need to add some plants. Also in the future plan is to put OLED TV above monitor (hold your complaints it is supposed to be on mount that can be lowered down), i still need to decide if i want second monitor, go ultrawide or go 32 inch (that is currently 27inch monitor)...

So yeah if something is worth doing, it's worth overdoing XD and for the end this is how design looked on the screen for comparison XD

I got myself an early Christmas present:

A Mister (one of the new cheap ones by Taki Udon / Retromake) connected to an inherited CRT (Sony Trinitron). I set this up yesterday and played around with a few Cores today. As I never owned consoles except for a Gameboy as a kid, this is all very exciting. Motion clarity on a CRT is amazing.

A little OT, need help.
Started seeing this kind of artifacts:

How fucked am I???
Tried a stress test with FurMark but it seemed stable.
Also before playing I've noticed that firefox didn't render some letters.

It's inconsistent, so I don't know where to look.
Could it be the DP cable? I guess not since it's in the rendering, not in the displaying

Looks like the classic symptom of the GPU VRAM crapping out. I’d try switching the cable just to discard the possibility though.

Damn, this is frustrating. It seems I totally missed the part in Veilguard where you could customise your own Inquisitor from the pas game. It's part of the new game scene, and somehow completely slipped past me. Kinda miffed about this and there is seemingly no option, other than starting again, which makes no sense as I already put 40 hours in.
if it helps,
they appear for less than 5 mins

Welp, I've shut down everything, checked the internal connection and done a quick dust cleaning.
For now, it didn't happen again. I guess (and hope) could also be some driver related glitch

Hello, I am looking for some help with an NVMe. I installed my Samsung 980 Pro drive but now I'm having issues with windows recognizing it. I checked on the Samsung Magician software and it says the drive exist but Windows won't show the drive as an option. I mainly bought the drive to use as extra storage, not as my primary drive. So I'm not sure how to set that up.

Also I did buy a bequite MC1 heat sink that I originally was going to use for my 980 but the Gen 3 slot that I attached it to already had a heatsink for my ASRock X470 Taichi on it. The issue is that that heatsink is for 22110 drives rather than 2280 drives. It will still work but I wanted to buy a fancier one. For the time being in gust going to use that one and install the MC1 on my Intel 660p drive.

Thanks in advance for the help.

If you open Disk Management, does it show up there ? (it might need you to either format it or assign a letter).
