I imagine much of the animation was mocapped or whatever so why does it look so bad here? All that to recreate the scene & botch it.

Also how silly is it to have that standard fps hands posing when carrying the item and running for your life instead of match the movie...

Very good reviews for Indy. Definitely going to be proven wrong on my prediction for the peak CCU I guess. The launch trailer they put out a couple of days ago was also the best showing of the game so far. But I think it was telling that it also showed very little gameplay and focused more on the gorgeous environmental art.

EDIT : People who reviewed it are absolutely gushing over the game on Twitter. Best game of the whole year and all. And it's a meaty 25 hour campaign. Now I'm very curious to see what the people who get to play it early say.

What a crazy week this turned out to be for big releases. Apart from Marvel Rivals and POE 2, there's Indy and GFL2. Delta Force also released yesterday I think. And Infinity Nikki might be the biggest game of them all!

New Steam Machine + new controller + Deckard.

Valve's new hardware push for the next few years until Deck 2 is ready.

I wonder what kind of price this new stuff will be. I'm guessing very pricey.

Lets see if all those rumors of Half-Life 3 come to fruition as well :sneaky: That will make it much easier to sell these new gadgets.

A new VR game will be needed too of some sort. They are gonna need a big event for everything.

Yeah Valve is really going all in on hardware. I got a feeling they’ll be in it for the long haul with Steam OS and proton.

I think Valve will target the entry-level market. There's no shortage of options for those who want to spend a lot of money and people will probably not leave their 5090s for AMD hardware. On the other hand, the situation in the sub-$300 GPU segment is dire and a lot of people would jump at the chance to upgrade their gaming setup without paying through the nose.

If the rumors about Microsoft turning the Xbox into more of a console/PC hardware are true, it seems that there is sort of a race over who gets to market first with a Personal Console, so to speak.

I imagine Valve will sell these at around cost because they want people buying games on Steam and I’m guessing we’ll see similar pricing to the Steam Deck.
I do wonder if they’ll try to get them on retail. That makes pricing tighter with the store cut, plus a huge amount of logistics needed. I do think Deck and this box could benefit Valve if they got them in stores though as it might make people more aware of them that aren’t big PC gamers.

Give me a PS5 equivalent and I’m there.

Yo what? Is it really that scalable?

I just tried 15 mins at everything on low/lowest. It is "playable" technically but has a lot of visual issues/shimmering. Will play more over the weekend and on Xbox.

I expect it will be playable without major issues on the ROG Ally but I'll try after I delete Avatar and Outlaws tomorrow.

Reason: Added Rog ally stuff.

Hyped for Indiana Jones! Gives me time to finish FF7 remake, and hopefully the intermission thingie

I left that dlc for when Rebirth is released to get familiar with game without playing it all over again. And they are apparently working on patch for remake.

Personally I would prefer something cheaper but I would be ok with anything that is good value in the entry-level segment.
Hmm, interesting. I instantly agreed with NarohDethan point, but depending on what we put behind 'good value' this may be even better.
A solid perf machine priced lower than a PS5 could be seriously cool. People value good enough over cutting edge these days.

Yeah, that's exactly what I had in mind. I distinctly remember Valve saying that "for many people Steam Deck will be an upgrade " in one of the pre-launch interviews. A whole lot of people on Steam play on low-end hardware, old PCs and laptops. Even a $300 Steam Box would be a huge upgrade for them.

Also, not only an upgrade but also a way to play, I was only on Mac for years, sure I had a bunch of games to play but it was still very limiting supply.

So Valve jumpstarted a whole product line and could beat Microsoft to the punch with their vision of the future of home consoles. Wild.

Played a bit of Marvel Rivals, the okayest game of all time.
That's about how I feel. I played 2.5 hours last night and it's fine, but I probably won't play it hundreds of hours like Deadlock. It's super polished and you can tell a lot of passion went into the game, but the actual gameplay and shooting simply isn't very good. Wolverine is fun as hell to play as though.

Also I like this trend of companies touting their Steam numbers.

The Thing remaster is out now

Eurogamer gave Indy 5 stars :)

and Digital Foundry liked it as well

“When you see a fun trailer for something like ANANTA, it's like a commercial for a casino that never shows the chips."

An excellent quote from Kyle this week, encapsulating the whole gacha business perfectly.

I know some people are already saying out loud in their mind: "Hey, but Cacher, you play Girls Fromtline 2! You build the OT! You are part of the problem man!" Yes, I am. No excuses. Meanwhile, I also had an extremely enjoyable week playing GFL2. It certainly is not the most polished game out there, but fuck me it is filling with vibe, good ideas and personality. Gacha is shit business practice and I plan to stay F2P as far as possible, but humans are weak so I am not sure how long I can stay strong.

By the way, can I get an invite for Deadlock ?
I’m not judging you for not offering one to me until now. But I’m judging.

Looks like the family wants control.

So basically the Todd Howard treatment. They want MS to give them billions...and then they still have some type of control of the company for many years while passing down the failures of the company to a bigger overhead.

Depending on the price someone should do it. There is still a lot of ip worth owning from them. Even with a 5-10 billion price tag you should be able to make your money back with ease over the next 10-20 years.

Sony should probably step up and do it. Any other big pub should consider merging with them too.

It would be funny if MS does it again tho. They would be in control of so much.

I stayed home today with a sore throat and headache. I thought I would play some games in bed... nah! I just woke up and the day is almost done before the wife and kid return. Hopefully I'll be back grinding this weekend.

I'm trying to do everything in my power to not buy kilos of games every sale. I'm literally only buying a few games here and then that I know I'll play before spending again. Having a million games in my backlog really overwhelms me.
