Ok this might be the most controversial thing I've said... but have you guys heard of Astros playground? It's bloody amazing! I even heard they made a proper game out of it, think Ill like it too.

Also, the PS5 controller is pretty fucking dope! Didn't think the difference would be that big coming from xbox controllers. Granted, depends of course if a game gives a damn about fully utilizing it.

Today's a day-off so I started playing FF16... According to steam I played it for 7.5 hours. Jesus.

The presentation is absolutely mind-blowing. I haven't played many new AAA games lately, but scene composition and camera work is on a whole new level compared with other games that I have played. I often found myself in awe of what showing on the screen during both gameplay and cutscene. My jaw dropped to the floor during the whole second eikon fight. This is final boss sequence in other games, you know?

Work tomorrow so I will not be able to play a lot. Definitely a good thing because rushing through a game is never fun. Going to savour every moment onwards.

Yes yes I know MH Wilds is out next month but if I don't see 5 active posters here playing Daybreak 2 or Yakuza....

Yakuza is a game I'm waiting on to see how my finances and gaming habits are when it's round the bend, before I dip.

Been playing Aliens: Dark Descent on gamepass.

Actually rageuninstalled at the end of the first mission.

But it drew me back. Reinstalled, and now I am in mission 9 and have 30 hours played already.

What a phenomenal atmospheric fun game for any Aliens fan. Even one that does not normally play top down tactical games (like me).

Yeah man the wibbles from it are cool. I'm playing Pacific Drive which wobbles all over the place.

According to multiple rumor reports, Switch 2 reveal will finally happen on the coming Thursday. But the focus is hardware not software.

I wonder how many third parties are waiting for the damn reveal so that they can start announcing their games. Looking at the barren release schedule from May 2025 onwards, I bet there is a lot of them. Many of them will probably be on PC, too.

If the backward compatibility rumors are true, then there nothing stopping them from announcing the "old switch" versions or PC versions.

But it feels like they have to show SOME software or else there's no reason to buy this thing. The only thing that interests me in Switch games atm are exclusives.

Backward compatibility was confirmed by Nintendo.

I think publishers are more inclined to release on Switch 2 if the software prices can go $70. Nintendo probably secured a number of marketing deals, too. Bravely Default remaster (teased by Asano twice already) or FF9 remake would be my guess. On the other hand, yeah, I will only get exclusives for it. Everything else will be bought on PC.

So it will just be a quick trailer for the hardware.

But there should still be room for them to insert some Silksong gameplay somewhere in the video :sneaky:

speaking of anime; there's an upcoming souls-like that has some anime characters in it — AI Limit. they have a new demo, which was quite good! I played it to almost-completion the other day (the last boss and I couldnt come to an agreement). Preorder is also up; and given how much I enjoyed the demo, I might get this :)

I also searched if this has been brought up before - and it has, all the way back in 2019; and I mentioned playing it last NextFest also. —> MC search

I was playing FF16 and thought "hey, this game has spectacular presentation, but Clive and other characters are so fucking dull and dry. What is happening?" I searched online and found the answer: I was playing the game in Japanese completely, but during development the English script and dub were finished first. Sooooo, I switched to English...

"Wait, did Clive just make a joke? Hmmm, EN Clive has an amazing voice. JP Clive was like a fucking wood! What the fuck is going on he is like a completely different person!!!"

Now I want to throw something to the wall because I had put 10 hours into the Japanese script. What a waste of time. And now I am thinking to re-start the whole game from the beginning...

I played FF16 in english and still thought every single character was boring as plain wallpaper. Completely unredeemable game in every aspect.

Ben starr's cool though, not much he could do with yoshi p's team writing for him though.

Yeah, FF is the only JRPG series out there where playing with the US dub is recommended.
(See: FFX, FFXII, FFXIII, FFXV)
The only exception to the rule is FF7R, because fuck if I'm playing with Breaking Bad Badger talking in background

I started Sunday (minus about an hour for a false start last year). I saw the previews for KCD 2 and it looked nifty so I decided to go back to the first once. I don't know if I'll actually finish it, but it's gotta be doing something right.

Far Cry 4 got Steam achievements earlier today.
So did Far Cry 3 this morning. Although they may not be quite ready yet. They haven't posted the usual announcement yet and people on the Steam forums are reporting syncing error if co-op achievements are unlocked on uplay.

I decided to replay the whole game. Going to comment on the English script after putting decent hours into it. The Japanese script and dub is really, really bad. Everyone except Cid and Benedikta talks like a robot without any emotion.

In the prologue, child Jill had an adult voice and I found it very odd but did not think much about it. I guess it was the earliest evidence that they did not care about the quality of the Japanese dub.

The Persona dubs are great and Metaphor's is one of the best ever.

Fun fact child jill and joshua are the same VAs as the Plague Tale kids

But yeah the quality of the VA in 16 was good it's just the writing I have issue with. The dub in 7R and Rebirth is incredible too. I was genuinely shocked how great the performances were. Cait and Cid sound exactly how I thought they would in the original game.
