Stupid question. I was playing Cyberpunk today with the MSI afterburner overlay.
I've noticed that in crowded areas my FPS go down to 100-ish, but I've noticed that my GPU and CPU are always about 80% of the load.
The RAM usage is around 10 GB.
I have an i5-12500K , RTX 3070 and 16 GB of RAM.
Is there a bottleneck or is this normal? I can't tell.

2 minutes of Trails footage comparing the original with the remake. Not on youtube yet as far as I could tell.
I have to admit, when they announced the remake I wasn't on board. The game is very dear to me and ever since moving to full 3D Falcom has never come close to capturing the magic of the Sky and Crossbell sagas. But I'm sold, this looks great. The art direction is on point and the animation doesn't look cheap like in other games.
I think they will do it justice and I'm really looking forward to playing it.

Same, except the huge fan part, I never got far in any of the games (yet). The newer ones just didn't look interesting, the first couple did & the remake looks ace. Technically it's probably not that far removed from the other recent stuff in the series but it just looks right this time, for whatever reason. To me that is of course. Previously I wished they stuck with the old style with simple 3D environments and sprite characters like Ys Oath/Origin, this one I like & don't mind the change.

The issue is you posted on a forum when a user said "I hope NVIDIA continues to eat shit" and another user thumb-upped the post, so NVIDIA GAI punished you by throttling your GPU.

I finished Ender Magnolia (100%).

Absolutely an early GotY contender.
It's one of the most polished Metroidvanias I've played -- and one of the most "player-friendly" in a way. Specifically, it gives you full fast travel extremely early, and also has a very good map system that makes it extremely easy to track where you need to revisit when. One could argue that this level of convenience takes something away from the genre, but I really don't think so. What it does reduce is time spent just running around -- I think the games are similar in size, but Ender Lilies took me 22 hours to 100%, while this one took me 18 hours.

Anyway, highly recommended to every fan of the genre. Especially if you liked the first game, since this one improves on basically every weakness of that. If there's one thing that is a downgrade compared to the first one then it is the emotional impact of the story, but that's rather subjective, and the first game is extremely hard to live up to in that regard for me (and it's not like this is something I generally expect in Metroidvanias in the first place).
I completed it today. Great game!

I agree with the praise for the map system. The map was excellent at presenting gates in the metroidvania map layout, and I really liked how the gate icons were changed from red to neutral colors as you acquired the keys and abilities needed to progress. The clear color coding of "unsolved" rooms was great as well, like it was in the previous game.

Gameplay wise, I liked how abilities were grouped in threes as aspects of a fewer number of significant characters that you recruited, compared to the more chaotic list of abilities in the previous game. The progression systems were more varied, more fun to interact with and more complex than in the previous game as well. Bosses were maybe slightly easier than in the previous game, due to larger opportunities to use synergistic aspects of the progression system. The "pressure" abilities were really effective and fun to use, but it stands to reason why you would use a puny sword instead of a gigantic poise breaking drill or continuous magic AoE damage and status effect generators.

I kind of liked the story and setting. The music was maybe not up to the standards of the previous game, but there were some standout tracks like the old city vocal track.

Eurogamer (via Kotaku) suggest that The Sims 1 & 2 might get digital releases soon. Would be welcome, id like to have them on Steam :)

Oh hell yeah.

I still remember riding metro home with my launch copy of Sims 1, reading through the manual (remember those?) and being super-hyped.

That soundtrack is GOAT. Shoutout to Buy / Latin / Nhood / Build tracks.

Pro-tip. If you have a copy of Sims 1 disc lying around, the entire soundtrack is on there in mp3 format, so it's easy as hell to transfer to your digital media player of choice. Been rocking it on my phone for years & years.

Bring it.

I was finally able to buy a 9800X3D for less than €600. Can't wait to see how fast notepad++ opens with this beast. :)
Careful. There have been reports of fake CPUs out there. Run something like CPU-Z to verify that you actually have what you think.

Crowds mostly rely on CPU, Afterburner might say that overall your CPU is only 80% hammered by averaging the total across all cores, but unless you are looking at every core and every thread you won't know for sure. It could be that you load into a crowd and a single core spikes to 100% mucking things up for you a bit.

For Cyberpunk this is normal, especially after the AI Overhaul they did for the big 2.0 update. Many people noticed FPS drops for large crowds. They're running many more AI packages these days, like due to the Police rework and fight or flight packages.

Also Happy CNY Meta for any who celebrate! :blobgift:

I wonder in what direction they will go. Will they go back to the strategy of the PS4 with those AAA titles? Which in turn would likely just end up on PC as well due to their high development time. Will they try to focus on making just 1 live service game, rather then working on multiple ones. Will they go back to make smaller titles that cater to different niches? If not by developing the games but rather by serving as a publisher. In the long terms those plans may not make them a lot of money but maybe it will at least be somewhat stable?

VR is dead. They are struggling in Japan. The Switch 2 is likely only going to hurt them even more. As of now the PlayStation brand is losing name recognition there, by younger people.

Are you looking at the individual usage on each CPU core? It's possible one of them is getting pegged at 100%.

I don't see this working very well. Frame gen needs a higher base frame-rate to work with.
I've played LaD Infinite Wealth on my Steam Deck with FSR3 frame gen from 30 to 60. It played pretty good, latency wasn't bad and it looked much smoother than 40 FPS.

Super janky. As in it was so janky that a completely unrelated conversation's subtitles played during the ending sequence. While I would probably give it at most a 6-7/10, I still kinda of loved it and the immersive world that kept me hooked most of the way through. I'd probably put it in the same conversation as Dragon's Dogma where it is extremely flawed but at the same time I couldn't put it down.

I’d say I’d go back to Android but it’s not like Google is better. Although to be fair, Google doesn’t pretend to be for social justice and shit.
I mean, one that “pretends” to have social values is still better than one that actively dismantled its inclusivity program.

you could always check out those fair phone or what they were called? They might still use android though

I literally searched Farland series on Google a few days ago, so I couldn't believe my eyes when the news dropped. Played 1 when I was young. If this means old games from TGL will be ported to modern platforms, I am all for it. Also please come to PC.:blobdrool:

This is a comment from Gemtasu's article
If I'm going to guess, based on City Connection's announcements, these platforms are only for the physical format and will announce other platforms for the digital format
makes sense

That actually makes sense, I'll check on all the cores, thanks

edit;

Seems the usage is pretty much the same, nothing hits 100%. What I've noticed is that when the camera moves slower, it hits around 115-120 fps, if I start going crazy the FPS drops like in the screenshot.

Hey me too! Just took delivery! I opened the package and......the processor wasn't in the box. The seal had been opened and it was empty.

Very Miffed. Bought from Amazon. Contacted them and they have refunded the money. Annoying though. Going to re-buy it from another retailer.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday. In the first game I felt a bit overwhelmed with the amount of familiars the game gave me and barely used some of them.
The map is indeed excellent.
I also agree that the music despite being good doesn't reach the heights of the first game, but I'm only a few hours in.
