Not super interesting, since I played this on gamepass (well, the Ultimate Edition at least). I hope this means that the Coalition will similarly remaster the other titles in the original trilogy as well.
we can only hope 🤞

I looked at building a reasonable PC from scratch for the first time in a long while, and it's not actually so bad. Change my mind.

The price on the 5060 Ti isn't soo bad right now. I'm thinking back on the GTX 970, I bought in 2015 for 384€. Adjusted by inflation, that's around 500€, which is actually decent bit above the price of the 5060Ti in your build (450€).
That still feels like a step or two down, given how the 970 was basically in the same position as the 5070 is, but it's not that much worse and the 970 had the gimped 3.5 + 0.5 memory layout to deal with.

GTA trailer looks ridiculous. It must be like 2000 employees working 70hr weeks for the next 365 days to polish that thing up lol :(

.....................

Honestly Rockstar is stupid asf for not pushing this as their own big PC game at launch. Instead catering to only consoles like its still 2010.

This game would make as big or even bigger impact than Half-Life 2 did if they dropped it on their PC store. The audience they would get on PC from all over the world would blow away most F2P GaaS titles combined these days. They would push their platform for decades in whatever way they want...just like Valve pushed theirs back in 2004.

A couple thousand people, for sure, if you count all the small satellites around the world, most of whose employees never get any named credits and probably over 80 hour weeks with nightmarish conditions, going by the recent People Make Games video about such companies.

GTA 6 not releasing on PC is Rockstar's loss. Console prices going up instead of down probably isn't going to help in terms of sales but who knows I might end up being wrong on that. I only ended up buying GTA 5 once and that was on Steam and I'll end up doing the same for 6.

I wonder what the Steam CCU would be for GTA6 if it launched day and date on PC and only had steamworks version (no Rockstar club etc).
I expect it would easily overtake PUBG. Maybe 5 million?

Hello from my new pc :blobevening:
See you again in a couple of weeks after installing everything
Note that you can use winget to generate a list of installed applications on your old PC and replay that on the new one (maybe after manually curating it).
It's not perfect, but it did greatly simplify my last PC upgrade compared to the previous situation.

I wouldn't put it past Sony and MS that the reason why they increased the price for the consoles is because of GTA VI and how much of a behemoth that game is going to be sales wise. All to experience it in glorious and cinematic 30fps lmao

It's not a bad Humble Choice, but I think I'm going to hold off and just pick up a copy of Ultros from someone.

The Thaumaturge
Amnesia: The Bunker
Evil West
Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes
STAR WARS: Bounty Hunter
Ultros
Corpse Keeper

The rough part is when you want to see a 2-4x improvement in real world performance from a >6 year old high end build, the comparative side of things makes it 'bad'. I think something like Steam Deck is astounding historical value today.

I'm looking at upgrading from my i9-9900k, and it seems in many applications, to reach 4x improvement I'd need a 9950X 3D.

Wanting 4x the RAM improvement from my 3090 means a $9000 GPU. (literally)

Historically, 4x improvement in 6 years wouldn't cost >$12,000. I don't know what it would be like if I had a 6 year old mid range PC and wanted at least 4x improvement.

30fps seems a stretch. I'm thinking 20fps

You have a few limited options if youre running a Apple Silicon Mac:

Apple's own Game Porting Toolkit • this requires an Apple developer account, but thats not hard to do....using the Game Porting Toolkit might be harder – its meant for devs, not gamers.
CrossOver by Codeweavers (costs €70, has a free trial) • this is based on Wine; and these guys also co-develop Proton
Parallels • I dont know how viable this is for gaming

If you for some reason have an Intel Mac, you can always directly install Linux or Windows via Bootcamp

If you have an M1 or M2 Mac, you can try Asahi Linux. This is in development and bears many risks, I've been told.

Note: I have zero personal experience with any of these.
I'll check them out, thanks :)

it's a pretty good bundle this month, but none of the games are that high on my wishlist. would probably spring for it if I hadn't already played through Evil West on Game Pass a few months back

Very good bundle, too bad I already bought Thaumaturge (and didn't play it yet, of course), Bunker is in gamepass, Evil West I already finished and rest are not that interesting to me.

I remember someone was looking for a cheapish way to get into Monster Hunter a couple of months ago or so. Fanatical now has a bundle with MH World, MH Rise and their expansions together for a fairly cheap price.

Apparently they're short on keys though so get it soon if anyone is interested.
