Will you add information on which game that is already available in other stores?
Indeed, but the first one is still 176 days away so it will take a while ^^

Rob is back with another great thread

(just posting everything as quote because twitter embeds for threads are fucking annoying ... the embedded tweet is the one he's quote-tweeting and commenting on)
That thread was a great read. Thanks for posting it.

I don't have any answers for him though. It's interesting that as bad as ppl make Valve out to be, they're not giving away free games like all these other places, including (not-so) Humble (which is owned by IGN IIRC).

definitely not ... that's absolutely a first (and on PC, no less!)
It's sad. And looking at that list, it seems that non-exclusive games being release on EGS will be followed by an exclusivity deal. This explains why Vampyr was on EGS for example. Very sad if the next Enter the Gungeon game will be EGS exclusive, but it looks like it.

So... Octopath Traveler has random encounters. I am not amused.

I'm using it as well, thanks a lot for doing this!

It's crazy that Epic has been moneyhatting 43 games in only 6 months. Pretty sure this never happened in the games industry so far.
I wonder if making a Steam Curator list of all the moneyhatted games would put some more pressure on these companies. Would such a curator list appear on the game's store page?

yeah .... we've all noticed that already ... if there is a game released on egs that's not exclusive (or "free") - you can bet your ass the next one from those devs/publishers will most definitely be

only for people who follow that curator, i believe

Disco Elysium devs did state that they weren't in favor of exclusive stuff (I was afraid of that one too, but someone pointed out otherwise).

Team Cherry, I'd be astonished if they went the exclusive route. They sell everywhere and they're not struggling or greedy. They've been outrageously generous to their kickstarter backers by giving the huge DLC updates away for free, and apparently Silksong also will be given free to backers which is crazy. I just can't see them doing anything to divide their fans like that. I almost feel bad about it, because we were more than square at a mere $15 for a game that blew away my expectations.
Hollow Knight is GOAT tier.

I wouldn't mind putting it above Super Metroid and SoTN. I don't take anyone seriously who do not at the very least put it on the same level.

And at $15? I actually feel bad that it's that cheap!!!

I doesn't hurt to try, so go ahead. I'll follow your curator ^^

Some guys from r/fuckepic have also started labeling the moneyhatted games. That may even be more effective. ;)

Isn't Paradox still "neutral" even with Bloodlines 2 there? Or did I miss something (oh no...)

No point in it then, it would be preaching to the choir.
Yeah, I remember it did something like what you wanted some time ago, but then there was some controversy because of the "30 fps" curator and Valve changed the visibility of unfollowed curators in general. But to be honest I don't exactly how it works now.

While exclusivity deals are always bad, giving your backers Steam keys and only making new purchases timed exclusive is much (much) lower on the asshattery scale than just ignoring what you promised.
i'm not sure volvo will allow that to happen, though ....

if they did it would mean they'd have to host the game for absolutely free for a year (or longer - if Deep Silver somehow decides they don't want to release the game on steam after 12 months after all) ... and i'm not sure they're willing to do that

especially since it would already be the third time in a row DS are pulling this shit

Speaking of, Tim is mighty salty and starting to lose his cool it seems.

They would still lose me as a customer which would be sad, I really like to support German devs..

It is so weird to see CEOs engage in flame wars on the Internet.
This has been par for the course for Tim, though. I used to work for MSPoweruser - a name I kinda hate to bring up anymore because of what's been done to that site since I left, but regardless - and there were multiple times where he got into a public fight with our EiC. Usually because Tim kept insisting that Microsoft would make it so games would only run on the Windows Store and kill Steam. Funny how things turned out. I distinctly remember him getting pissed at my boss using a picture of Tim with a tinfoil hat in an article.

I would have love to be a fly in the wall with a camera on those meetings.

If they tried for Shodown i suppose that japanese games aren’t really safe from the moneyhat, I’m assuming that the PC digital on those trailers is because they opted for both Steam and EGS in the “worst case”.
No way bamco didn’t get an offer if Shodown

Edit: didnt see it was posted already

I don't mean games where the exclusivity time has expired. I mean games that still have exclusivity period but still are available in other stores than Steam, such as Metro Exodus which is available on Microsoft Store
AAAAAH you meant that, true, I didn't remembered about this, I must add this ASAP. thanks for the reminder.

At the very least Bamco is sticking to Steam for now:

i'm fairly certain they never were safe ... it's just that Japan seems to need more than just a big bag of cash to be convinced to do stuff like that ...

One of the few times I'm grateful Japanese companies are as quick as a Slowpoke to get on with the times.

Later you can run over their heads, no reason to avoid. And yes, try again, try harder, it's great. I still need to complete the (huge) add-on.

Took a Moneyhat

Traffic and followers have taken off in the last week since it made it to r/fuckepic. I really should find more productive things to do with myself.
