Thief 2 is an easy top 3 in my all-time list, so imagine my disappointment with this reboot. How can you make a game where the most difficult part of the game is finding the place to start each mission? What a disaster!
And on the "holy crap I'm old" moment of the day, Thief 2 is going to be 20 years old next year. I should probably replay to "celebrate" even though it is always risky to take off the nostalgia-glasses and revisit an old favorite. Still, the level design was great and the sound system way ahead of anything at the time.

Thief 3 is also in something like my top 10, was so into it. Also the cradle is still one of the scariest experiences I've had in any medium.
While it did still suffer from same limitations of Deus Ex 2 because of the consoles of the time (loading... loading...), they did handle it a lot better. Overall a good game with a couple of excellent moments like the cradle level, but still far behind the second game for me. But I do still remember several things about it, which is more than I can say from the reboot.

I should add, I didn't actually play the first one or the second one that much, so for me the third one was the first one that I actually gave a go, but I'm sure they are better the earlier ones. Might be little late to go back to them now?

I remember trying thief2 mods a few years ago, there are some unofficial campaigns as well. It's worth a look and a try :p
I found something ;)

I honestly have no idea how the games play today as has been probably 10 years since I touched them. If you can deal with the fact that they are two decades old, is probably worth taking a look, at least the second one.

There are some mods that probably fix a lot little things, and hey, they are actually 80% off right now on Steam ($1 each).

And Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot is at 'mostly negative'.

That Reddit thread doesn't seem to be accurate unless they somehow removed silver coins from offline mode which I very much doubt they did. Seems more like a case of someone not understanding how memory addresses work.

Finished Nioh. Took me 68hrs to beat the main game.

I thought it was a very good game but there are few things that brought it down some points. Basically the two biggest strengths in the Souls games (the interconnected world and enemy variety) are the 2 biggest weaknesses in Nioh. They just don't exist. And its kind weird they don't especially the enemy variety. There is like 4-5 different basic enemies. I don't know if they ran out of money or what but it was just strange. And yea the mission based world was kind of a letdown but not a dealbreaker. It was kind of like playing a PS2 game. The design is outdated but not too outdated. I think FromSoft just spoiled me over the years so its hard to hate other devs when they don't reach the same heights.

To the good of the game..I thought the combat and gameplay loop was incredible. I didn't like how loot focused it was at first but eventually you kind of just start appreciating it. I must have used and had fun with every single weapon in the game. The stance switching was fun and useful for all the encounters even if it felt overdesigned. But for their first attempt it was quite the achievement. Just fun as hell to play even if repetitive. I wasn't too big of a fan of all the item/inventory management but whatever. At least they stuck to their guns and didn't dumb it down in any way. I mean there is seriously a lot of loot in the game. Just a fuckton. I must have reached my 500 item inventory like 3-4 times during my playthrough. So disassembling and clearing out your inventory was time consuming even tho I didn't forge much with the materials.

The bosses in the game were fine and some even pretty cool. I loved a few of the final couple bosses. Nothing really too hard. I think I died the most to Ogress because of the stupid jumping attack and camera bullshit that came with it. But everything else felt cool enough. The game was very difficult I would say but its mostly because there is little room for error. All the bosses and minibosses basically kill you in 1-2 hits. Also I will say the Gasha fight might have been the worst boss fight in the history of video games. Running up and down that crater was so fucking dumb. Whoever designed that fight at Team Ninja needs to slap themselves. It really did almost ruin the entire game for me.

The story was kind of a confusing mess and tbh I stopped keeping track of everything because there was just too much going on. A lot of jumping around the map and a lot of war stuff. Everything was just weird and it was hard to care for anyone except like 2 people. It was basically Geralt of Rivia goes to Japan and helps/saves everyone===>The Game. They did some cool things with the time period and fantasy history but nothing was ever memorable or engrossing. The game being mission based didn't help since it lacked a lot of the lore and cryptic love you see in the Souls games.

I would give this a solid 8/10. Would easily recommend it if you love Souls games and Diablo/Path of exile. It really was an insane combination of those titles.

If they could have just put like 4-5 more enemies in the game it would have been a damn near masterpiece. Its a shame really but I'm sure they know the faults and will address them in the sequel. If they can fix a few QOL stuff and have better enemy variety the sequel would be so good. I didn't play the dlc for the game since I am so burned out killing the same enemies over and over and over and over again. I'll probably boot the game up and play the dlc right before I play the sequel. And hopefully they don't take too long bringing it to Steam.

Thief 1 & 2 hold up great. You can get a couple minor mods like TFix for 1 and T2Fix for 2 but they work out of the gog-box, they're partially fan patched. Configure the controls before jumping in to make them 100% comfortable and then they play as modern as anything, less clunky even, top of their genre still.

I did buy the Thief collection on steam! Only was missing Thief 2. Seems the only Thief that playable on Mac is the last one and I might actually give it a go, it can't be that bad!

On GOG2, so I imported all my accounts, little bummed that when importing xbox and playstation account it only grabs the latests consoles, was hoping to get all my 360 achivements and such!

After finishing up Nioh I would just also like to share my official Souls and Souls like rankings.

Dark Souls 3 > Sekiro > Dark Souls > Bloodborne > Dark Souls 2 > Demon Souls > Nioh > The Surge > Lords of the Fallen

The genre is just too good. Hopefully it carries the momentum into next gen. We need more and more hardcore no fucks given type of devs to jump on board the genre. It needs to get more difficult. And no one better take the easy mode discussion seriously.

For now I guess bring on Code Vein and Surge 2.

Hard to decide what I want more tbh. Robot Souls or Anime Souls? I guess it will be whichever drops hard in price first ;)

I'm a total sucker for coloured controllers but why does purple mean Fortnite? I was expecting some tacky decals and stuff not a decent colour controller... that i want.

Maybe because their piñata llama is purple? Or the storm? Honestly I've played Fortnite for like an hour total.

Lazy af design, almost on Sony's level of not giving a crap about their 'Special Edition' controllers. Compare that to the Gears of War pads or the GOAT, the Sea of Thieves one.
I...i like it :(

If i see that controller over here in the UK i'll be tempted to get it.

edit: lol it's up on Amazon and GAME at least, £65 though.

Also, i've played 0 hours of Fortnite and seen approx 25 minutes of random Fortnite streams in total. One of which was some man that looked like a child account swapping with other streamers to hide each others inventory or something? I know Epic are lax about security and stuff but surely even they have to have a problem with streamers openly account swapping? Eh, maybe not.

Two Garfield Kart games in ONE year?! ... What did we do to deserve such wonderous lasagne?
The OG Garfield Kart was released in 2013 tho. Still, we truly are blessed to received a full sequel to that game.

Here's the announcement from Microids:

Reunite with the series’ 8 iconic characters (Garfield, Odie, Jon, Nermal, Arlene, Liz, Harry and Squeak) from 7 November 2019 in Europe and 5 November 2019 in the United States on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Steam!

I find it interesting how people distinguish this as its own genre.

They are action games of slower pacing. So instead of DMC and Bayonetta which reward players for doing infinite combos, these games take the methodical nature of standard boss fights where you are only supposed to get in one hit at a time, and made entire games out of them.

Folks growing up in a generation that don't remember NES-hard.

Someone got a spare key to spare? :p

Btw, is Rocket Knight any good? It's the only game that I find interesting of those in Greenmangaming's silver award
It is a servicable 2d actuon platformer. It may not blow ur mind but it can offer soke challenge in later levels.
... aaaaaaaand as everyone already predicted when the game released:

(which also means it might not come to steam ... because activision gonna activision)
What was the last steam game that had microtransactions in it?

Progressed further in Thief 2014, and am now halfway. I spent about an hour doing the Bank Heist DLC mission. It was quite decent IMO.
The overall game, well it works; long as enemies don't outright detect your presence with a red eye on them it means you've been stealthy.
Opportunist is similar to Ghost, except for Ghost it is mainly about going in and out to complete the main mission at least without stealing from enemies or interacting with a lot of the safes etc.
So basically Opportunist is being a stealthy thief that is and out with the looty loot~

Haven't had much issues navigating the town hub so far, but one section keeps feeling risky because I could alert the guard while moving behind him.
activision's last game? CODWWII
I am not talking about Acti games, I'm talking about general steam releases that have mtx in them
Rage 2 has mtx for example

Mortal Kombat 11 has MTX as well

I don't see how MTX would prevent a steam release.

Hmmm... Need to pick a game, but I am not sure which. None of them seems interesting enough

Got OG Doom 3 on Steam
Got Doom 3 BFG on GOG along with Call of Cthulhu, Elder Scrolls 4 and bought Fallout LV to have a drm-free back/copy.
Decent Bethy haul for me :p

Game is playable as is and alresdy offers vsrious sp and mp content to begin with.

In game currency is for cosmetics and unlockong characters. It is just that rscking them up can be time consuming
I just settle for doing races on the weekends to get the most coins and then redeem them for 'packs'

I mean the ingame currency. Like you said it is time consuming, with Cheat Engine maybe it would remove or make it faster to unlock unlockables

Yeah, best that one do that as early as possible, but the game's ingame currency has no bearing on the actual gameplay itself.
