Yeah, EGS deals wouldnt be possible without said billions.

Just take the L, breh.
That reply that he's quoting is obvious from a PoS individual that shouldn't address anyone in those terms. However it's also clearly a handpicked statement put there just to justify his bias and contempt for the whole videogame playing audience. It's also clear the he, the media as a whole, the publishers and devs thinks that person represent the the average videogame player/customer/whatever you want to call it.

I don't understand how we ended with consumers vs devs dichotomy. It's illogical and shouldn't have happened, in every other industry people work their asses to please customers because it's healthy for business, but some devs think that Sweeney always be there for them and that Epic will never change its course, so, they're just playing almighty.

People who play in PC tend to be more vocal about the things happening on their own environment.

Well it's because quoting Jason we don't just consume...consume....consume....
Yup. That's why EGS discussion is rotten.
People who only play on consoles doesnt get it because that's what they're used to. And I dont mean this in a derogative way, it is just natural.

This EGS shit is a great example that people don't learn from history. These developers and publishers have obviously forgotten the lesson Microsoft learned from the GFWL debacle or Cliffy calling all PC gamers pirates. PC gamers don't forget and we don't forgive and we sure don't put up with anti-consumer shenanigans.

Edit: I like how my tablet auto corrected Cliffy to Fluffy.

Yeah but that makes you vitriolic and resentful for some reason lmao

Man, what a shitshow. Another dev added to my blacklist. I'm disappointed in Jason's comments but not surprised given that he's always put developers above everyone else.
I wonder why it took him so long too see the light.
Jim's afraid of losing Patreon backers after the backlash he got from posting an anti-Steam video in which he said some positive things about EGS.

I'm really getting sick of this whole situation. It's not fun anymore to read about gaming on the internet since Epic started their moneyhatting spree. I'm so tired of it; tired of seeing my favorite devs going EGS exclusive, how other devs are defending their shitty behavior, how ALL of the media are sucking Sweeneys cock and how more and more people "cave in" and spend their money on EGS exclusive.

As far as I know, a hobby is supposed to be fun. This isn't fun for me anymore. And I'm sick of it.

At some point the situation is bound to improve, it can't be always bad. Sooner or later Epic is going to change their strategy or leave PC market (both are fine by me) and things will return to normal, in some sense we will become better.

I know one thing, it has really opened my eyes on how much utter contempt some Indies and media have for us. Which is bizarre since without us to consume, there isn't a video game industry and there sure as hell isn't an enthusiast media industry.

Chill my good man and don't let it get to you. It's not worth getting remotely upset about. Now admittedly I'm coming from the perspective of someone who nearly died of a heart attack a few months ago so I couldn't give a less of a fuck about videogames in comparison. However there's no need to argue or shout or call folks names (in general, not directed specifically at you). Just don't buy anything from the Epic Store, that's what many folks are doing and that says more than anything. Just have a good laugh, especially at that silly fucker who keeps diggin his hole deeper and deeper. I've never seen quite such contempt for their players or customers before. It's fucking amazing.

I understand why you are getting upset but don't be. Spend your time enjoying your hobby more and concern less about some arsehole or two that can not figure out basic things.

"Being worth [billions] should be illegal."

I don't get that point. Like, the police should come and arrest Tim, and then he should be put in jail, or fined for being rich?
Maybe he argues for good old Soviet style expropriation of expropriators? I mean, I'm begrudgingly ready to take some of that sinful money Tim has made.

We can talk about taxes, but illegality?
He probably meant that there shouldnt be a way to accumulate such wealth.

Which is a valid opinion that sounds a tiny bit silly when your entire career is covering said capitalist industy.

I kind of thinking that he was alluding to the working conditions/compensation of employees at Epic.

The games industry wants customers that silently consume. Anyone who objects to all the shitty stunts they pull gets the privilege of being labelled as toxic.

This whole episode has been so enlightening. Fuck anyone who is grouping me with toxic gamers. I've always done my best to promote gaming as a normal activity against all the stereotypes of mouthbreathing gamers. I've always took a lot of pleasure in paying full price for indie and AA games that I believed in. Fuck anyone who closes ranks behind devs like these. It's unreal how many industry people I thought were reasonable and normal adults are now showing their asses. The audacity, entitlement, selfishness, and outright stupidity of these motherfuckers is astounding. I can accept if a dev, publisher, or "journalist" disagrees with my view of the Epic store, but to be called toxic, a "baby", or whatever is beyond the pale. Truly, what other industry treats its customers like this?

Maybe gaming really is nothing but a degerate community. If so, it's deeply rooted from the industry itself, not just from consumers of the media. Also, twitter was a mistake.

At this point, I just hope EGS crashes and burns, and Tim once again declares all PC gamers as pirates.

There are plenty of other developers who don't act like these Ooblets ones have so it's best to just support them in any way and ignore any toxic ones. These toxic devs don't need support since EGS is already taking good care of them.

I was there where you are now too. Tired of repeating myself on Era, the folks arguing in bad faith. Tired of news of upcoming games' exclusivity.

But then I took a deep breath and realized that I own so many yet-unplayed games (not only on Steam, but on GOG, PS4 or Switch too) that it does not really matter at all when some devs take the money and hop onto EGS. It just saves me money for the dozens of great games releasing on Steam daily (like my purchases of Horace and London Detective Mysteria just this week).

Now I just put developers with Epic exclusivity on ignore. I mean, I could not buy those games even if I wanted (requested an Epic account deletion ages ago ;) )

I just wonder what developers who "need" the Epic money to get their games finished at all will do when the money fountain runs dry. Maybe try to develop better relations with the guys who normally pay for your work? You know, the customers you call toxic 'n stuff?
