So what releases are you looking at picking up for the rest of the year?

Mine are

  • Death Stranding
  • Doom Eternal
  • Indivisible
  • Hades when it comes to Steam
Hope I have enough budget to pick up some stuff that already released like Fire Emblem, Remnant or Planetfall, too. Also having an eye on Blasphemous but I need to try the demo first. In my experience indies more often then not don't get the stamina management feeling right when they go for a souls-like.
Not entirely sure yet, Code Vein and Indivisible are maybes, River City Girls is a very likely.

Overall I really want to focus on my backlog for a while. It's getting too crippling long.

Anyone here planning to get River City Girls on PC? It's really hard to get anyone post options and see if it renders at 4K.

So what releases are you looking at picking up for the rest of the year?
Just finished Control and decided to pick up Astral Chain next, for upcoming/yet to buy games I got..
  • Code Vein
  • Death Stranding
  • Doom Eternal
  • River City Girls
  • Blasphemous
  • GreedFall (Waiting for reactions)
  • Pokemon Sword or Shield
  • FFXIV: Shadowbringers
  • Destiny 2: Shadowkeep (Waiting for reactions)
  • The Outer Worlds (Wait)
  • Shenmue III
  • Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (Wait)
So yeah, this year is really packed for me. There's few indie games too I'm looking forward to like Giraffe & Annika and Mistover.

Noita this month, Bum-bo in November. Jenny LeClue whenever it is released.

The one which I will most certainly buy is Bum-bo. For the other two, I will first take a closer look at the reviews.
Super intrigued about Bum-bo. It being something to Slay the Spire or Dicey Dungeon have me intrested but I will wait for more impressions and videos.

The only one I'm actively looking forward to that comes to mind immediately is Code Vein.

I mean, if I actually believed the "later this year" release timeframe for Divinity: Fallen Heroes then I'd absolutely add that, but I don't :p
Always forget about Fallen Heroes. Looking forward to that, too. But not expecting it before next year.

So I watched aliitle YouTube about dragon quest, but not too much to spoil anything, but one thing surprised me, someone mentioned it was linear? Definitely not something I want from my massive RPGs.
It's not linear as in you go through a level and never return. While the way through the game could be considered linear (its connected levels after alll) you can always come back to old locations (and do so during the story). Later in the game you also get a boat and an airship.

For me:
  • AI: The Somnium Files
  • Yu-No
  • When They Cry 5
  • Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair
  • MediEvil (remake)
  • Death Stranding
  • Doom Eternal
And yes half of that list is VNs :p

I'll get Death Stranding as well. I'm not expecting much nor I care that much about Kojima but I'm very curious. I'll most likely get a physical copy at launch and sell it when I'm done, so that'd be quite cheap.

Then
  • Doom Eternal (bought)
  • Hades
  • Little Misfortune
  • Police Stories
  • Planet Zoo (bought)
  • Overland
  • Genesis Noir (if out this year)
  • Arrest of a stone Buddha (maybe)
  • Desperados 3 (if it's actually out this year)
  • Warsaw
  • This Land is My Land (will check reviews first though)
  • Sparklite (maybe)
  • Mosaic (if it's actually out this year)
  • Blasphemous (maybe)
I also intended to buy Creature in the Well but it'll be available on Gamepass so I'll play it there. Also Outer Worlds and Phoenix Point since my subscription expires in April.

On console I'll probably get Link's Awakening and Luigi's Mansion. Also Pokemon, I'm not particularly interested but I never owned a portable console so I was never able to play any entry in the series but always heard people talking about it so I'm curious.

EDIT: Oh and Utah and Romania pack for American and Euro truck simulator, of course.

I just noticed FF8R's reviews

The complaints essentially boil down to the fact that the remaster hasn't remastered anything at all beyond a selected choice of character models.

By comparison, the Original version:

IMO the 'bad' PS1 graphics are part of the charm. Now it looks like a mobile game.

I have great difficulty in purchasing new games. One, bc dropping $60 on just one game, whilst I have over a hundred "pre paid" (aka this lazy fucko didn't play the games he bought) is a waste of money. Two, because I am most likely trying to play a game I like better than the new game I'd be getting, so my favorite new purchase is a soon to be back log entry. Finally, I buy during sales, in bunches so I'm not in the habit of buying games often.

The mobile versions are actually great! And this is coming from someone who barely plays anything on mobile. I even think that they're the definitive way to experience the first 6 entries in the series. I finished 1-4 on mobile and only have 5 and 6 to get through on there. Dragon Quest is simply amazing. I fell in love with it ever since I played Dragon Quest VIII on the PS2 back in 2006, and I couldn't believe it when they announced XI for Steam. What a game XI turned out to be, easily one of the best games I've ever played in my life.
The problem with the mobile version that I don't like is that it's not playable in landscape mode? Also I really despise the overlay for the controls. Maybe it's fine for VN games but not for RPGs like DQ. I'd still prefer playing the NES version with community patch/retranslation patch.

Anyone here planning to get River City Girls on PC? It's really hard to get anyone post options and see if it renders at 4K.
I'll grab it tonight, maybe. No one has posted performance issues yet on Steam Community forum (also no tech support subforum there, weirdly enough). Instead, we have incels being incels instead.

Some of these are dependent on impressions but

  • Code Vein
  • Greedfall
  • Destiny 2: Shadowkeep
  • Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones
  • Moons of Madness
  • Desperados 3 (this is looking more like 2020)
  • Disco Elysium (last update still said 2019, but we'll see)
  • Frog Detective 2

Remember earlier in this thread when I talked about playing games and then just dropping them without finishing them?

That’s what I did with Nier: Automata.

Pictured: Hektor 's reaction to TheLetdown
I envy you.

I had to play through 1 and it was horrible. Horrible!
The grey color palette alone was terrible, but the cover system... bleargh :blobxorcism:
I am playing through Gears 1 UE (as part of my free month of Gamepass) right now (I am in Act 2) and the only really annoying thing so far was fighting that troll (which seemed almost directly lifted from The Lord of the Rings movie, even in the way it's introduced), because of the dumb instant death when it touched you.
I like the actual shooting mechanics, and things like the quick reload mechanic make it enjoyable. The overly dark world is annoying, especially because I really like the design of the capital city, it seems kinda like how a modern day Roman Empire would build things, had they endured the last 2000 years.

I used to be able to single handedly keep track of almost everything coming out for steam and everywhere else but now it's just like an endless wave of stuff constantly coming out. Even with people like Prudis, Tizoc, etc (Everyone else I missed, sorry) doing massive amounts of posts/threads on stuff here and other places there's still games that just go zipping by unnoticed.
Kind of nuts. Feels like walking into a candy shop and just going "Oooh Look at that! What's that over there! What about that!"

Tell me about it.

For example, I just noticed this game on Steam:

I'm sure some fellow Meta member posted about it before, but I surely missed it. :giggle:
