Which is the reason why you should create separate accounts for purchases in other regions.
True but I would rather keep them all in one library.

Any way I will wait closer to release to see how things ban out.

I have already said this and in a way my options are more limited now than before.

Well, Game Pass already saving me the hassle of refunding something on Steam. Tried out Creature in the Well, and it's pretty and an interesting concept but it is WAY too clunky and just... not fun. After about 30 minutes and like 5 minutes stuck in one non-combat room because the positioning is so specific, I uninstalled it and don't feel like it deserves a second chance.

Gears 5 is just whatever so far, but it's coop and some of the weapons seem neat. Playing on the difficulty above normal and it seems really heavy handed with damage though, might scale it back just so I don't have to spent as much time hiding and regening (I assumed it'd be easier with M+KB, and it probably is, but just feels too deadly to have fun with the combat).

I finished Lucah: Born of a Dream (challenge done even though I wasn't trying, hah), that is a great if kinda limited game. I wish it had more exposure so more people could help figure out wtf is going on in it :p

The new steam library supports APNG so you can make animated covers

Is this answered somewhere in the thread? I want to redo some of my old image work in the new format if I can
300px x 450px or 600px x 900px.

If one puts custom art for as game covers, do they get overwritten if the dev updates it's game art?
No, they don't. I had several SEGA games customized with custom covers and a few of those games received official covers earlier today but none of my custom covers were overwritten.. So I removed my covers for these games and used the official ones instead.

The best way to tell if the dev updated the art for a game is if the games banner in your library updates.

I'm playing Vampyr and I should've set the difficulty on Easy because the combat in this game is as pleasurable as donkey's ass. Like WTF, you're a vampire but 3 British working class yobos can kill you without breaking a sweat? Come on. It also has the most obnoxious, find the right door among non-interactive environment, level design I've seen since the PS2 days.

Still like the game tho, the atmosphere is great and Dr. Reed is a one hell of a stylish mofo.

Alright.

French Justice just called illegal some Steam user conditions.

It's illegal not to be able to resell your games.
It's illegal not to be able to sell your Steam account.
Valve can no longer refuse to refund wallet money because they are now creating electronic money.
User privacy is also flagged.

They've been fined 30 000€.

Didn't have time to read everything in detail, but it's quite something. Don't know if there's an English version elsewhere.

justice report :

Warning : article free for today, don't know if it's available outside France.

How would they comply with reselling games, I wonder. This would be unprecedented in the entirety of the digital market. You would also not be reselling the games but the licenses, technically.

I would be very glad if a function like this would come to fruition, but developers and publishers alike would hate it. They shun used games as it is.

sounds good to me ... hope volvo will actually consider implementing that stuff ... would be awesome (and of course indie devs would complain)

Steam Market. I could see it working really fine.

You list a sell order, and you cannot play the game as long as it is listed. If you cancel the sell order, you can play again, maybe after a one-week delay.

To stop people from using stolen credit cards, one could prevent people from selling a game in the month following its purchase/activation.

Also, cards would not drop for games obtained through the Steam Market.

Publishers will have an absolute shit fit. I don't see how it ends well for Steam tbh.
Devs and publishers would get a part of the 15% transaction fee.
also - they'd have to do it (eventually) even if they all have their own launchers ... so it's not like bailing from steam would save them anyway

The multiplied "added to wishlist" thing in the activity feed in library is a known bug, right? Because it sure is annoying.

Yeah. As said, I haven't got time to look into it in details, so I won't guess, but even if it's coming from a consumer association (we don't have class actions in France, but it may be the closest thing), it may be a really big change for us.

I don't see how other stores could not be affected in the exact same way.

It may lead to stop selling digital products in France... reminds me the Belgian justice banning games with gambling lootboxes in their country.

The decision may not be final, I don't know if Valve can still contest it.

Yeah, that part makes sense. But how would they arrange who gets money out of it? I don't see publishers or even independent developers agreeing to losing price control over their games. How large is their share in the exchange going to be? Whatever it is, I think many would rather pull out of such a system than lose getting 70% or more from a direct sale.

Edit: I see this is already being discussed. I don't see them agreeing to only 15%. I really don't. They're already fighting over getting 18% percentage points more. They'll will pull out of such an arrangement and try to do digital sales differently before agreeing to that. Or include a "resale tax" in the price to offset this.

I don't know if anyone remembers, but Greenmangaming used to have a program where you could rescind your license to a game in exchange for store credit. At best, I could see that happening.
