A bit of a heads-up for those of you who likes simulation/city builders. Anno 1602 is currently free to keep forever in the Ubi store.

Anno 1602

Make sure you're clicking on the "Get it for free..." button instead of "Add to cart" button.

Before y'all raise your objections and pitchforks, yes, yes I know. Ubi launcher is the devil spawn, etc. It's somewhat better than the Epic launcher, though. Sometimes you gotta roll in with the bad to get with the goods.
Personally I don't think uPlay is that bad :p

Bladed Fury is out:

Nice. The game looks beautiful, too bad it's launching near the Winter Sale.

Does VPN work still for activating region locked keys? I got a Worms WMD and its locked to this area. If my friend uses a VPN in the states, can he activate it...

Worked for me about 6 weeks ago using a russian VPN. There might still be an 88 day runtime lock.

Does anyone else have this problem with Steam, where it won't find every game I have installed when it starts after a shutdown of Windows but fixes itself after I restart Steam? Kinda annoying to see half the games installed and half of the games that actually are installed needs an update. I'm using a M.2 drive if it helps.

So is there gonna be an Ass Creed game in 2019? Origin was in 2017, Odyssey is 2018. I thought Ubi said they were gonna cut down on Annual game releases?

Anyways, seeing as Origin is more than 50% off a year after release, I'ma hold off on getting Odyssey until it matches the discount next year.

I thought I read somewhere that they would take a year off again?

Follow my curator for more great puzzle game recommendations!

Up Left Out is another short minimalist puzzle game from the maker of Hook, Klocki and Push but this time you are sliding blocks around.

There are various goals to accomplish. It starts off simply, you just need to free each block from it’s holding pin. Other mechanics are slowly introduced, blank blocks that just get in the way, patterns and lines on top of the blocks that need to be matched together to end the puzzle, buttons that rotate all the pieces and walls/gates that can be manipulated to stop blocks at specific places. These walls demonstrate the fundamental mechanic, blocks slide as far as they can until they hit something. Some of the later and best puzzles contain blocks that can only be moved once that pattern on top of them is replicated on other movable blocks.

Sticking with the minimalist setting, I’m not completely sure how many levels there are! Around 50 or so, should take an hour or so, as there isn’t a level select screen. Thankfully you can now quit the game when finished without opening the task manager.

Short, sweet, less than a dollar but could use a few more of the harder puzzles.

This place is cozy. But I don't want to just hide here. I want to fight back against fake news and platform warring on Era.

The thing is, most PC-Era people have given up and even get aggro when one just posts a link to the newest Steam-misinformation-thread into the PC-OT. They don't want to see or hear.

I remember one time, I had a plan to see if I could makes games not be part of my life anymore, thinking I would try and live "real life" more, but then I realized that just spent hours and hours watching for amusement flat earther documentaries and also about religious nuts being scared of CERN opening a portal to hell.

Asked myself what the fuck I'm doing with my life, installed Pillars of Eternity and am much more at peace with games being quite awesome part of anyone's life.

Ticket to Ride just dropped its 3rd of 4 episodes. It's a bit grindy and repetitive and has a pretty unique battle system. You move your character over matching coloured squares corresponding to the ability you want to use, more squares, more power and then unleash it on baddies. The art is great.

Yeah I was very confused, I mean they have tried to make ticket to ride a base franchase that can be used in other games but I didn´t heard anything of a new boardgame.lol

That's pretty much the story of Doom. Not only they are stupid, but they also lack imagination.

50 hours or so.

Looks like steam has cottoned on to people using bot-nets to abuse free giveaways inside steam. Cards for Geneshift and Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion have been mysteriously disabled. Geneshift had more than 200k "players" at one point yesterday!

yeah, that 200k figure seemed EXTREMELY fishy from the start .... for a game no one ever heard of, that had like 90 concurrent players before going free ...

I finished this and Golf Peaks recently. Golf Peaks was definitely the better of the two but I enjoyed them both.

The puzzles ended up being a bit more complex than I thought they'd be based on the concept early on though agree on having some more challenging puzzles added at the end would've been nice.

I'm wondering why it took this long for Valve to act on this.

Archi's group alone has 650k bots.

Steam Community :: Group :: Archi's SC Farm

That's $30k+ in card money per game, assuming 5 cards and 1 cent profit per card.

Did everyone see the State of PC Gaming in 2018 that Kotaku put out last week?

It's not quite as silly as I found the PS4 one, but it's still pretty eye-rolling.

More options means more chances for new ideas to flourish and, perhaps, for a new middle class of developers to emerge where, currently, there’s mostly just a ceiling and a floor with little in the middle. The early 2010s indie golden age is never coming back, but something new and hopefully less calcified than The Steam Era is on the way.
Anti-“asset flip” rhetoric also expanded in preposterous new directions as some Steam users did their best to prove that game developers are lazy and undeserving of basic respect. It’s a song that’s been ringing through Steam’s labyrinthine halls for as long as anyone can remember, but each year, it gets a little louder.
At this point, Epic’s main strategy seems to be accumulating exclusives, but some developers—tired of Steam’s near-monopoly and obstinately libertarian ethos—are hoping Epic can rock the boat.
Defying all odds, Valve actually released a game this year in the form of DOTA 2 card game Artifact.

been playing "Ultimate General Civil War" for a few days.

especially the dynamic Map is cool. In one Scenario, I had:
- a battle on a map in the left flank
- a battle on a different map with my main forces
- after those battles concluded, both maps got integrated into the main map and my two forces now stood at their position from the initial mission briefing. My main force was still in battle against a sizable enemy, but my left flank had won the battle and could relief my main force and drive into the flank of the enemy.
- after holding out for some time, the map got bigger AGAIN and I had to retreat to a fortified position where the biggest battle took place.
- Ihad to use some units to harass the enemy so that my main Force could retreat orderly to the fortifications.
- but I couldn't really sacrifice those harassing forces, because all Units and their strength are real units that will get transferred over into the next scenario in the campaign.

These aren't bots but people. Well maybe some are bots, but if you use ASF it automatically puts you in the group. There are a bunch of people from GAF/Era in there, and I know we are not bots lol.

I used to leave the group every time after I idled what I wanted but meh, eventually I just stopped wasting the effort.

I mean technically, when you configure ASF, you are creating a "bot." The web config form even asks you to name your bot :p
