Rally cool looking short metroidvania game by small local devs. Its pretty good with little to no story and has wonderfull idea with the setting and twist related to that. Shows great promise for those devs in future , especiallyif they continue with this setting

I have begrudgingly served my sentence and now nominate Jawmuncher to continue with this complete waste of time that could be better spent watching anime. Uguu~! <3

War of the Human Tanks
Developer - Yakiniku Banzai
Store Page - Here

My indie recommendation (after being so rudely tagged) is

An often overlooked strategy game with a unique spin on both its world and gameplay elements.
It's currently even on sale and offers more than enough value for the small price. If you're a fan of turnbased strategy and quirky games (The story is even presented in a VN style format!). This is one is worth checking out.

I supposed thanks to Jawmuncher for the tag. Okay, my indie game recommendation I would like to highlight is...

BLEED
Developer - Ian Campbell
Store Page - Steam, Itch.io

bleed_ss3.jpg

bleed_ss1.jpg

Bleed is an arcade platformer, mixed in with some twin-stick shooting, and with a dash of bullet time that'll make Neo and Max Payne blush. You play as Wryn, who wants to prove that she is the baddest hero on the planet but in order for her to do that, she has to battle against some of the greatest heroes of all time. Within no time, you'll want to prove how badass you are and play speedruns and survive the game without a single hit absorbed.

5-1.gif

At the time of this post, the game is on sale so I would definitely give it a whirl. And if you happen to dig it, guess what? There's Bleed 2!!

Next up is oh, I don't know... Kurt Russell . Take it away!

Thanks ramoisdead (btw, it didn't tag me for some reason).

I'd like to recommend two games.

First comes Karaski: What Goes Up... (on sale, 60% off during the current sale).

Karaski: What Goes Up...
Developer - Unbound Creations
Store Page - Karaski: What Goes Up...
Twitter - Unbound Creations ~NoviNews out now on Steam!~ (@UnboundCreation) | Twitter

Karaski is a game about a magnificent airship which has experienced a catastrophic accident. But that's not really it... It's a game about the people in that airship, their motivations, their small quirks and what they did before they got onboard.

ss_16b925aafbb5ef738968b0e8508efbdeeae4c266.1920x1080.jpg

It's an adventure game first and foremost, but you can also engage in light stealth segments. There are many endings based on your choices and overall, I fell in love with it from the moment I laid my eyes on its first trailer.

The developer behind Karaski has a Steam Dev page here if you want to check out their other games: Steam Developer: Unbound Creations

Second, I'd like to give a shout out to a game that is not out yet, Armored Battle Crew.

Armored Battle Crew
Developer - Gattai Games
Store Page - Armored Battle Crew
Twitter - Gattai Games (@GattaiGames) | Twitter

For people who have played Bomber Crew, it's very similar to that, but placing us in command of a WW1 tank instead of a WW2 bomber. For the uninitiated, it's a management game where you get to micromanage a WW1 tank, focusing on keeping your crew alive while they complete tasks that bring your faction closer to victory.

I now nominate Gevin . It's your turn to spread the indie love!

Damn you for making me work :minos_angry:

My recommendation is...

Eternal Senia
Developer: Holy Priest

For starters, it's free!

It's a cute RPG Maker game, with some amazing artwork, really simple gameplay with some little twists to keep it entertaining.

The soundtrack is great and the story has some emotional moments that are worth it :loudly-crying-face:

Also is very short, can be beaten in like 3-4 hours :coffee-blob:

eonden I choose you next :minos_golden:

Alright, sorry for the delay, was working during the day and had errands to run. To make up for it (and I planned to from the beginning), you're all going to get three games listed.

Without realizing it all three of my picks were largely made by single people. Bombservice is slightly larger with around four people (rdein is the director and creator but there's someone for art, a musician, and another programmer).

I love rhythm games. I've played a range of bad to excellent. This was my pick for #5 PC Game of 2018, but to be completely honest the gameplay is merely good. What makes this standout the most is the wonderful music. That will be a matter of taste but I love classical guitar and the music feels authentic since it's performed by an actual band and not just some "tango" track in a music making program.

It's not a long game at 13 tracks but each track has story scenes between them telling a surprisingly dark story. There's also a hard mode and a bunch of challenge levels using the same tracks but with limitations and quirks (one I did reverses the keys). It only uses four directions and I found using the keyboard worked well. I honestly don't know if it has controller support since I didn't feel the need to try.

Oh, and the paper doll digitized characters are pretty great. There's a lot of character to them in both the cutscenes as well as the dancing (and knife fighting).

#2 Minoria

This is the next game from Bombservice, which most of you likely are familiar with their prior game Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight. Notable for me as the only game I've ever made an OT for. I'm a fan of this series and this is the first "original" game from Bombservice after doing four Momodora games. It also is the first game using polygonal graphics, though it still plays in 2D.

For those that aren't familiar with Bombservice's games, they're tight Metroidvanias made largely by a single person that borrow from Castlevania, a little Dark Souls, and probably some other games as well. Minoria is a likely going to be very much the same with a bunch of boss fights, plenty of secrets, and oozing with dark atmosphere. I'm a little apprehensive how it'll turn out (movement looks a little floatier than the past games) but I'm hoping for the best.

#3 Radio the Universe
Twitter: radio the universe (@sixesixesixe) | Twitter

There is no Steam page yet so here's the original Kickstarter:

This is one of the oldest Kickstarters I backed, expected to launch nearly five years ago in March of 2014. It's made by a single person that still gives updates roughly every quarter and it sounds like the game is super close to coming out at this point.

The video linked is a little over a year old but it's 15 minutes of gameplay that probably hasn't changed too much (earlier videos do have some different elements to them that seemingly changed). Gameplay-wise it makes me think of stuff like CrossCode and Hyper Light Driver so if you liked those then make sure to keep an eye on this one.

His Twitter isn't much better with updates but you can see the newest short clips there: radio the universe (@sixesixesixe) | Twitter

Edit: Shiiiit, forgot to tag someone. lashman it's time to quit liking every single post and post your own in this thread!

Common'hood

YouTube:

Common’hood is a game about building a new habitat for you and your community. After an economic crash many members of your neighborhood have been left behind without a place to live. Occupy the old abandoned factory and decide how you want to live.
As you construct your habitat you will:
 • Craft shelter
 • Manage your workshop
 • Acquire machines and equipment
 • Manage your crew
 • Automate construction
 • Scavenge for materials and resources
 • Farm food
 • Sell products in the market
 • Build machines from open-source blueprints
 • Repair broken equipment
 • Provide water and electricity to the community
 • Share or sell your creations in the marketplace
WORKSHOP2.gif
The core Common’hood experience is a survival simulation where you grow your economy and your community. New characters will attempt to join your crew, and it will be in your hands to provide shelter, water, and food in exchange for their skills. Each character that joins will have their own unique story, helping you understand what led them to end up without a home. By working together, you will be able to provide shelter and facilities to improve the life of your community. This will involve farming and researching technologies to improve the way you generate food and resources.
Common’hood has been inspired by the Maker Movement and all DIY initiatives that attempt to take re-claim production with a hands-on approach. In Common’hood you will be able to design furniture, Tiny Homes, Architecture, farming rigs and all sorts of structures to improve your way of living. Nothing will be standard, all can be customized to your needs.
Blueprints:
Common’hood uses a powerful grouping system that we call ‘Blueprints’. By grouping elements into blueprints, you will be able to automate construction or request it to be built by your community workers. Blueprints are the cornerstone of how Common’hood allows you to grow a catalog of modular creations that could become amazing constructions. Blueprints are also the main online sharing format allowing players to download creations by others.
ONLINEMARKET2.gif
Marketplace (Online):
Common’hood will offer a marketplace for player’s creations. You will be able to share your work in a ‘creative commons’ format, increasing your reputation and attracting skilled new members, or you can sell your creations getting the resources you will need to buy machines or parts that you might be missing. Larger creations might need many hours of work, so why not use the aid of fellow players and learn from what they have done already!
Dynamic Characters and Events:
In Common’hood, your community is your health. Only by growing your community you will be able to achieve larger goals. Each member that you recruit will have its own back-story and baggage. Dealing with your community’s needs will be essential for creating a peaceful environment, which might not be an easy task.
Automate2.gif
Automate:
Everything you can craft you will be able to automate if you have the right tools. Robots and machines will help you in streamlining the production of architecture and furniture, as well as objects that you can sell in the market. Go explore the factory while the robots take care of the rest.
Grow your food:
It will be in your hands to grow food and produce the resources you need to survive. This can be achieved by farming or developing technologies that might form for you! Automate food production by researching contraptions that can off-load the work from your shoulders and help you create a fully automated eco-system.

new game from the developers of Block'hood ... i genuinely can't wait to play this one!

hey JaseC, you're next ;)

I was itching to be part of this, glad I was tagged! I got a handful of indie titles I wanna showcase, but I wanna mention one that just caught within my radar recently.

Horrorvale
by Alarkus

When you think of games within the horror genre, we always think of frighting tales of mystery, intrigue & at times scary featuring a cast of creatures that exist to haunt the player at each corner. We've seen a wide array of genres that horror has manifested into, but a Turn Based RPG is one that is completely new to it. Horrorvale accomplishes just that, taking the wimsical aspect of Halloween & turning it into a full fleshed game.

You play as this lovely skeleton named Alice. She's a skeleton who's also a wizard!

And this is her pet dog, Scruffy. He's a zombie dog...

One day, Alice loses her dog & must now find him as your adventure begins in...

Explore the town of Horrorvale & meet a wide array of spooky folks while defending yourself from levitating furniture, ghastly jocks & sometimes your next door neighbor.

Witty dialogue ensues as you talk to the residents of the town! Meet new companions along the way & see for yourself what you can find with an ensemble of characters that you would die for.

Fight your way out in hilarious combat scenarios that will surely keep you entertained while you hone your abilities with your friends!

I guess that's cheating, but i'm gonna post two games from the same dev.
A 1 Hour long and a 6 hour long rpg maker Visual novel.
Both really well written in a way that's both fun and horrifying.
I guess i gotta put up a triggerwarning for both tho.

Actual Sunlight / Little Red Lie
Developer: WZOGI

Actual Sunlight is just a short story about loneliness and the depressive despair that comes with it.
Little Red Lie is a bit more complex, as it focuses on the way honesty, lies, money and the absence thereof affects us as human beings, through the eyes of two characters, a depressed middle class woman and a very successful but morally corrupted talk show host.

WORLD OF HORROR is a love letter to the cosmic horror work of Junji Ito (伊藤 潤二) and the 1-bit aesthetics of early Macintosh computers. Armed with clues, spells, and your dwindling sanity, you'll investigate mysteries all over the city and in the realms beyond.

Disco Elysium is an isometric CRPG with an urban fantasy setting. The protagonist is a detective in a town rife with crime. I'm a sucker for a good detective story and a CRPG combined with investigations/problem solving mechanics is practically a match made in heaven. Check out the delicious dialogue skill checks in the screenshots below!

An SRPG with a delicious pixel art style with a promise that we'll get to kill some Nazis. Also there's some occult stuff. Although I'm still a little wary of the procedural generation stuff because I'm not a big fan of it, I think there's still plenty to be liked in this game.

LiEat
Developer: △○□× (Miwashiba)

Twitter: ▲●■×@ダブル結果だしました (@MiwasibaS) | Twitter

LiEat is a short (3-4 hours) and simple mystery/adventure game with very very light RPG elements.
The art is neat and the music is good, but where it really shines is world and story.
The premise is super interesting - a dragon that eats lies accompanying a travelling conman solving small mysteries in different locations. And it absolutely delivers on that premise in fascinating and emotional ways.
It's short and cheap and highly recommended (don't get fooled by the cutesy banner image, it's actually not really fitting for its atmosphere, though the art is certainly cute).

Developer: △○□× (Miwashiba)

Twitter: ▲●■×@ダブル結果だしました (@MiwasibaS) | Twitter

What's this, another Miwashiba game!? Indeed, but 1bitHeart is certainly different.

Play as shut-in weirdo Nanashi who suddenly finds an unknown girl appearing on his bed. Together they start their quest to... help Nanashi make friends!

How do you make friends? Well, be learning information about them and talking to them, trying to read the mood and selecting the right topics at the right time, lest Nanashi dies from embarrassment if you fail too often. (It's kinda like an RPG battle where he has HP and loses them whenever you mess up, just that there's no fighting, just talking).

Also, there's a hacker using a virus to mind-control people and it's actually a sci-fi mystery detective game where you have to put clues together and find holes in the acting of the mind-controlled people and things.
And has a Tetris and Puyo Puyo mini-game.

And it looks super cute.

Valdis Story: Abyssal City

Valdis Story is a metroidvania game with hack and slash element. There are four playable characters with their own unique style of fighting. I don't remember much of the story, but I played mostly for the gameplay.

This looks sick

I was picked :fearful-face:

I'm so tempted to just put up Hollow Knight or The Talos Principle! :cold-sweat:
Instead i'll shill a game that some might already know, but i guess it won't hurt to shill it some more! :coffee-blob:

My pick is

Dingaling Games
Steam link

I'll just copy the steam page description for this game because i can't describe it better than they did

A game about survival, sacrifice, and perverts...

Lisa is a quirky side-scrolling RPG set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Beneath the charming and funny exterior is a world full of disgust and moral destruction. Players will learn what kind of person they are by being FORCED to make choices. These choices permanently effect the game play. If you want to save a party member from death, you will have to sacrifice the strength of your character. Whether it's taking a beating for them, or chopping off limbs, or some other inhuman way. You will learn that in this world being selfish and heartless is the only way to survive...

I picked this game up on a whim and was utterly surprised by how much i ended up liking it. The characters are great and funny and the humour hit very close to home. The combat also has a couple of interesting twists that made it more interesting than your average indie turn based rpg. The music is very weird and fascinating too! And the less said about the story the better! :cold-sweat:

If you are interested in quirky RPGS like Earthbound and Mother 3 but think that they are not twisted and weird enough you should definitely pick this one up!

Exploration!
