Lashley What was the last straw on Era? I saw that you've had enough and bailed out.
Being banned for a week for saying "You can guess who posted it" In reference to Nicole shitposting that MW2 meme picture

She's so thin skinned it's any wonder she can actually leave the house.

Yeah, it was a questionable ban, the last weeks were something else regarding moderation. I still have no answers from the Moderation Team regarding "vilifying Media outlet" and the authoritarian message it displays (In a forum that is self-proclaimed leftist and progressive).

Btw, she had quit Admin duties while you were "away"

not shitting you, ofdp2 might be the game i'm most hyped about in years. why can't i preorder it?
I even passed on two trade offers for it because i wanted to buy it and trading for review copys is always a little bit shitty (but for games i don't give a shit about i don't mind). still, i could already play it. argh.

Y'all are playing Ace Attorney while I went through Aviary Attorney yesterday and today. Only been sitting in my library for a year :p
It's very good.
Yeah I finished it last month. Great game, although getting the "good" ending depends too much on which order you visit the available locations. There's no way to know which location is most interesting before visiting them.

Yeah, I saw she left. Too little, too late.

They'll just replace her with another one of their friends who also happens to be a total clown.

Was only on PS4 so far, reviews were mixed mostly because of lots of bugs but they release a lot of patches. Good thing I waited.
Looks interesting at least. Will wait for some reviews, see if the pc is as borked as the ps4.

Whats gone down on ERA? I knew one of the mods left, but didn't know it was over a brouhaha from an epic thread. EGA really does bring pain and suffering in its wake...

I just played it with a walkthrough :p

On some other topic, I'm really looking forward to the search/filtering options for the Library in the new client. Right now I'm using Steam library filters when I'm looking for something to play that I already own.

That's actually how I finally started Aviatory Attorney, haha. I've sorted my games by User Reviews and am trying to play some things towards the top that have collected digital dust so far.

People, especially on Era, scoff at the notion that you could grow out of games, but I have tried 4 different Pokemon games in the last month (Crystal, Y, Ultra Moon, and Alpha Sapphire) and can't really get "hooked" like I did as a kid. This all started cuz my little brother told me he was watching the old 90's Pokemon and I decided to check some old episodes myself and got my nostalgia button triggered hard.

Even so... when it comes to the games I just can't seem to have the same patience/appreciation for these titles like I did when I was a kid. Back then I played all the way up to Pokemon Platinum on release day and enjoyed the heck out of them.

I feel like something is wrong with me. o_O

I think it has to do with the exposure an individual has to other games. I was a little Nintendo fanboy growing up, and my first 'hardcore' experience on a non Nintendo platform was Just Cause 2. It blew me away. When you go back to the things you enjoyed, after experiencing other things, you might recognize that while they're still good, there are better things out there.

That or you live in the BerenstEin Bears universe, instead of the correct BerenstAin Bears.

Maybe Pokemon games have never been all that good but as a kid you didn't know better and then nostalgia carried you through to further titles. Some people are more influenced by nostalgia than others.

Also people trust Nintendo too much and believe everything they make is golden so that influences them.

In truth Pokemon is uninteresting, slow, and boring.

Next week's sermon will be how Chrono Trigger and Earthbound are bad SNES games and you all need to move on.

You're not alone though.
I played the shit out of Pokemon games as a kid, but my last one was Ruby. Mostly because I didn't have a DS, but I tried to play some of the newer ones with an Emulator but couldn't really get into them anymore.

...I'm more a Digimon person nowadays. I've only tried some of the games and have played none to completion, but they are refreshingly different from each other. ...And I just prefer Digimon designs.
I'm so stoked for Digimon Survive this year as the first proper Digimon game on PC and hope Namco will start porting some of the older ones afterwards, like they did with SAO.
Give me Cyber Sleuth dammit.

As you become older and your mind developes, your interests continously shift, wether it's your interest in a specific franchise, genre or the medium as a whole. That's the norm no?

Maybe Pokemon games have never been all that good.

I wouldn't entirely disagree with this tbh.

Oh no, no no no no no. Once was plenty,
I mean, I know where you are coming from (I started final boss fight in Revengence on 23:00, and beat the game at around 03:30 am), but what you're doing is almost like dropping Nier: Automata after Route A.
Character action games are made to be replayed on ever so higher difficulty.

Truthfact - there are only two jRPGs better than Chrono Trigger.
Dragon Quest V and Mother 3

Maybe Pokemon's problem is the lack of innovation over time. Also it's just really tedious and slow, especially at the start, where as most other games try to have bombastic and engaging intros.

My childhood was also filled with Final Fantasies, Dragon Quest, (JRPG's in general really), Zelda, and Metroidvania's like crazy but I still really love those and don't usually have a problem getting hooked into them.

Which reminds me, I hope Konami also brings the SOTN remaster to a Castlevania collection for PC... eventually?

I know I'm late to the party on people asking about The Surge but I was got a copy of it awhile back from The Queen and I beat it and it was preeeetty great awesome, (Yep)

I've played and beat Demons Souls and Dark Souls for reference but haven't got around to Dark Souls 2/3 yet.

I can basically Quantify it to a Sci-Fi themed Souls like game even though I don't really like saying games are like that but this one literally follows the same mechanics of that game except it throws in some neat things of its own like finishing moves to get gear from enemies (Limb removal). Depending on how you defeat bosses you can only get certain special weapons that way or even gear.

The story is actually pretty cool too. (I also know it isn't on sale anymore but next time it is now you have an opinion you can ignore!)

Honestly I'm not sure why I "grew out of it" myself. I don't mind slow starts in games.
Was it because it was too formulaic? Too slow? Too easy? Too samey?
I couldn't tell you.
It's certainly odd, because I love monster collection games.

One thing I've noticed as I'm getting older is that I have less patience for the non-gameplay stuff in games. Long cutscenes, boring exposition and filler for the sake of immersion is a big no-no. It's why I don't care at all about Red Dead 2. I watched the hour-long Giant Bomb quick look of the game and I was bored out of my mind.

mean, I know where you are coming from (I started final boss fight in Revengence on 23:00, and beat the game at around 03:30 am), but what you're doing is almost like dropping Nier: Automata after Route A.

I know but I don't really like these games, character action was never my thing so I have no motivation to do so. I bought MGR to support the Metal Gear franchise on PC. I did enjoy myself but I have no interest in playing more of it.

for $1

Now I dunno what to do with the disc box :V

Well for one thing, if your language is set to English, mute the voices. The voice acting is all in American accent which is all wrong for a game set during the French Revolution :p
It's a choice based game where your choices will affect the story's progression or events among other things. While you do get stats that show how certain factions in the game think of you, I personally chose to balance out all main factions with my actions.

It's a decent game, if you're willing to play a game set during the French Revolution wherein you eventually can decide who gets beheaded at the guillotines after a court trial.
Woahhhh for $1?
