I had the same feeling when I started playing. But the slow-paced gameplay will make sense in the later, more complex levels, which are like mazes with lots of moving parts.Basically, the game looks awesome, impressive even. but the animations are a bit "odd", and the gameplay is a bit on the slow-side.
It's fun. but it feels a bit "clunky", and unfluid.
Maybe lash is referring to the gacha mechanics aspect of some mobage might have? But having said that, I'm not sure if Reincarnation will have gacha (I haven't done any research into it).I don't really expect to read something like this from you. It's the kinda drek you see on Era's gaming side whenever platform warriors feel threatened by mobile gaming's meteoric rise. Which seems to be quite frequently these days.
Now, I'm disappointed the next mainline NieR isn't an AAA or even AA non-mobile experience myself. Believe me I am. But to just sweep such a diverse platform of games under the rug as all "trash" is kinda rude to devs who actually try, and well... ignorant?
I've put more time into mobile games the last two years than all my other owned platforms combined. And you know how much Siege I play lol. There are some great mobile games out there which weave wonderful tales, and maybe like portable systems, mobile gaming doesn't deliver the full "gameplay experience" people are used to on Home Console/PC, but gosh darn it if my time on mobile games hasn't been just as fulfilling.
The creative staff alone behind NieR Re[in]carnation pretty much ensures it will be anything but trash. Add on top of that an actual effort from SE, the fact that they stated they'll be skipping the usual trappings of mobile games... There is no need to be so dismissive.
Heck, maybe it comes to PC/Consoles someday anyway. How many mobile ports we get these days? It's a lot right? And a lot of them are highly regarded!
All good games in their own way but I suggest going with Vampyr if you want light RPG elements. Greedfall and especially Elex have deeper RPG mechanics.I think I'm in the mood for some RPG light openish game.
Eyeing Greedfall / Elex / Vampyr
Oh better more on the RPG side than the opposite, not an issue I think. All good games in their own way but I suggest going with Vampyr if you want light RPG elements. Greedfall and especially Elex have deeper RPG mechanics.
The game is very well balanced in giving you the tools to complete it regardless of the choices you make, so that's not really a problem. The combat is pretty bad, yeah, no denying that. It's still pretty unique though and I'd say it's a perfect experience for when you're looking for something more on the narrative side.Vampyr is a clear third choice. While I'm genuinely interested, combat looks boring as hell and I fear having a hard time xp wise because I'm an irredeemable good guy and may not have the level for fights.
Only played Elex from that list so far so I recommend Elex. Great gameI think I'm in the mood for some RPG light openish game.

Never played the game, Wasn't really interested in it either but this is a cool channel. Good stuff.
Elex is pretty good if you're into weird PB worlds. No level scaling and fixed loot helps the RPG aspect, if you're looking for actual choices and consequences and not a palette swap of an NPC with blue reward instead of green reward, that's the game.Oh better more on the RPG side than the opposite, not an issue I think.
Greedfall is still a little steep, and there is a little too much of a Bioware vibe in there at first glimpse. And I'm not sure how much of the setting will click with me. But it's also the most original of the lot I suppose.
Elex mainly interests me for the absence of level scaling, what a fucking refreshing thing to have to avoid some areas for a change (sad state of affairs).

The UI is that thing that really got to me. The sheer lack of color coordination or even single fuck given to the fact that you have a bright, ugly turquoise bar in there among three other colors. I don't know, it really pissed me off in the way it denoted a complete absence of care or common tense regarding UI design. It felt like a very rough alpha prototype in that respect.Elex is pretty good if you're into weird PB worlds. On the other hand, combat is pretty damn poor, slow, clunky and buggy. It's much, much easier if you use guns. Aaand the UI is awful, if not outright lying concerning your stats, consumables are also harder to sue than they should be.
Vampyr I didn't like how it plays, nor the atmosphere, nor anything really. But it's not like I bothered, so.
It's pretty common to wake up wanting to play a good gameIve woken up today with a weird impulse to play Final Fantasy XIII. I dont know why. I last played it about a year or so after it first released. Got about 15 hours in before getting bored/drifting off to other games. I remember the combat being......ok?.....good?
And i remember that mums are tough.
I thought that the combat system was the most interesting thing about the game... everything else though? I rank it below FFX-2.Ive woken up today with a weird impulse to play Final Fantasy XIII. you're welcomeWHAAAAT??
A sequel out of nowhere! Less than a month too.
sorry ... it was just my mental shorthand for all the exploitative crap the vast majority of mobile games have in them ...I don't really expect to read something like this from you. it willBut having said that, I'm not sure if Reincarnation will have gacha (I haven't done any research into it).
pretty much exactly this ... all of itI do not think anybody is afraid that mobile/smartphone games are going to replace console/PC games.
And sure there are some descent mobile games, but the most successful ones seem to be build upon ridicilous exploitative game mechanics. Even worse, those mechanics started to spill over into pc and console gaming. And some people will point out that EA started everything with FIFA, but those micro-transaction made a nice round trip imo.
Personally, I've stopped installing and caring about games on my tablets and smartphones a long time ago. It's an industry that became so annoying to deal with, that I only saw one way forward: completely ignore them.
So yes, if I see a new big, beloved franchise go to mobile, I fear for the worst, most exploitative game mechanics possible and all I do is role my eyes and ignore the game on said platform.
I Captain Sparrowed my way through What the Golf while waiting for the Steam version. Incredible fun game.Apple Arcade offers a pretty cool selection of mobile games right now. Too bad you have to accept their subscription model even if you only care about a handful of those games and, on top of that, you need to have an Apple device and they're securing games through exclusivity contracts. I played and enjoyed a few of those but I don't care enough to stay subscribed so I just stopped after a few months.
Wish they had made a second one instead of whatever the fuck Catalyst was supposed to be.Pretty interesting video about the history of Mirror's Edge.
And in the best "everytime someone mentions Deus Ex, someone re-installs Deus Ex" style, I'm reinstalling Mirror's Edge right now and I'm going to do what's probably my tenth run.
Grindstone is a lot of fun. That and Card of Darkness are the reason why I kept my subscription going for a while.Im just hoping Grindstone will hit PC.
not really, no ... not yet ... gonna be a few more yearsAn off topic question
I haven't been doing web design for several years so I haven't been checking the trend in this area. I also don't have a 4k display. But do web designers design layouts to also work with 4k displays?
I checked a few popular websites and these don't work with 4k resolution. One big example is Facebook, not even the new layout is designed for 4k
Should I care about 4k resolution?
I play mobile game on my PCI do not think anybody is afraid that mobile/smartphone games are going to replace console/PC games.

Yeah same. I game on the TV which can do 4k but as i sit a couple of metres away it doesnt really have any benefit so i usually stick to 1080p to maintain 60fps. Much rather a smooth high frame rate than higher rez.My new monitor which I got for christmas in 2019 is also 1080p, even when my old monitor I had for 8 years was 1080p.
I would rather want 1080 and 60+fps than 4k and dips below 60 fps.
I wish FGO dev didn't hate emulators with the fury of a thousand sunsI play mobile game on my PC
Do they hate money? Because at least stuff like GBF also can be played on a web browserI wish FGO dev didn't hate emulators with the fury of a thousand suns
NP, I play console games on my PCI play mobile game on my PC
Yeah I don't understand why they hate emulators considering that you can cheat and use macro on phone too.I wish FGO dev didn't hate emulators with the fury of a thousand suns
I dunno why they hate/used to hate emulators, I know they used to break compatibility often with updates and the game, before the engine update that JP has, it had a boatload of anti-emu code which also kills performance on iOS/android mobile devices.Do they hate money? Because at least stuff like GBF also can be played on a web browser
No doubt about this. But mobile gaming earned it's shitty reputation among many gamers because of their predatory pay2win micro transactions. It's extremely hard to find the decent games between all this crap.In terms of mobile games, sure there are a lot of shit games, but there are a lot of very fun games to. Like FE Heroes, Mario Run, Threes, Sky, Pocket Mini Golf and Monument Valley.
Yeah, I can't even see thatgamecompanys Sky on any of the "lists" on Google Play Store. It's a great game, but I want it on a bigger screen, so hopefully the PC version won't take long.No double about that. meAnyone want my Halo 2 Flight Steam beta key?
Nice, no need to waste too much time on making something that's not necessary yetnot really, no ... not yet ... gonna be a few more years
the VAST majority of displays are still 1080p, and that's not gonna change any time soon
I've upgraded to 1440p/144Hz and I think that might be the sweetspot for me, now that I've had it for some months. The increase in resolution and pixel density is great compared to my secondary 1080p monitor, but isn't as taxing as 4k, allowing for higher FPS. And I definitely won't get another display without FreeSync or Gsync now. That thing is legitimately a game changer, much more noticeable than higher FPS.My new monitor which I got for christmas in 2019 is also 1080p, even when my old monitor I had for 8 years was 1080p.

Agreed, dice just can't stick with the parkour and get rid of the gun fights That and the story is just as bland and boring as the first.Wish they had made a second one instead of whatever the fuck Catalyst was supposed to be.
Thank you very much! Downloading.Anyone wan my Halo 2 Flight Steam beta key?

If Catalyst were a sequel and instead of doubling down on combat they had remove it game would not be so bad, parkour and the world are really enjoyable, everything else is fucking depressing.Wish they had made a second one instead of whatever the fuck Catalyst was supposed to be.
pretty much, yeahNice, no need to waste too much time on making something that's not necessary yet
