It's Unreal 4. It's going to stutter no matter what.
If not shader stutter probably asset-streaming ones.
At the very least it doesn't have shader stutters:

in the wake of newer times, i took a break to play Persona 3 FES

what a fucking good game, totally gonna play The Answer and then Portable, so solid
I have a special place in my heart for Persona 3 FES
It was just so unique and COZY. Without any care in the world, I just lived in the moment just doing what I wanted in my first playthrough, chilling out with my social links. The boarding school setting just felt so cozy and awesome, it felt like a little family.

Like I said yesterday, playing with a walkthrough takes away the wonder, excitement, and exploration. Persona 5 felt like a daily checklist. I should have not played with a guide, and doing it without the guide as a second playthrough just chilling etc. doesn't really work when you already finished the game.

Sounds like the opposite of my experience with Persona 3 Portable. I think I'll play the rest of the series, and if by that time I'm interested in the remake (which I assume will be long out by then) I'll revisit it. I really did not like Portable's presentation of the world or the characters and I think I already half forgotten a lot of it due to that.

...
it has such a great mood, everything's so chill and nice, a great trait of not-modern games

Sounds like the opposite of my experience with Persona 3 Portable. ...
a big part of that is probably the atmosphere; p3p doesn't have the traversing-around-world thing like p3 fes

I think right now they are pretty firmly saying 2 years, which is fine. I’m happy to wait.

Forbidden West has its DLC to release, and once that’s out I’m hoping we get a PC version to follow not long after.
There has to be people at Sony who see how big the launches of Horizon and GoW were on Steam. Both sitting at nearly 100k user reviews each. They have to realize the sooner they do the sequels the more they will be able to charge and sell. There is a ton of pc gamers waiting to give them money. Both titles still very fresh among the gaming community. If they wait too long they could lose out on hundreds of millions of dollars. At some point if Sony is really in it for the $$$ they should just do it asap. I doubt even PS5/PS4 owners will care that much if it happens too quickly.

At the very least it doesn't have shader stutters:
That's always good to hear but there are many sources of stutter around. Resource creation being another one.
I'm not betting on a perfectly flat frametime graph but I happen not to be too sensitive to stutters anyway.
Ghost of Tsushima, Demon's Souls and some Ratchet & Clank game were in the Nvidia leak.
Speaking of Ratchet, initially I thought it was going to be the 2016 remake which would have been an ideal entry point for PC players but there are rumors that it could be the latest one (forgot the name) instead.
Strange but I'd take it especially if it has ray tracing.

Having finished Resident Evil 2 Remake (Leon A and Claire B) and then Resident Evil 3 Remake, I decided to continue into Resident Evil 4 (original release). I played this on PS2 back in the day.

I can only say one thing:

Holy crap are those controls awful.
Leon "I have no spatial awareness" Kennedy.
The weird jittery camera if you touch the right stick when walking, the digital walking (is it 8 directions or 4, hard to say), the unwieldy aiming when standing completely still...

I got killed in the first encounter in the village because some ganados appeared from nowhere beside me and Leon didn't notice.
I tried again, made it into the house and the chainsaw maniac managed to sneak up on me without me even hearing him entering the house. And again, Leon didn't see him standing to his very left due to the weird camera.

This is also playing on EASY difficulty.... Might actually skip this one and see if RE5 feels better...

Demons Souls is gonna sell so much on Steam if the port is good. Still have it installed on my PS5 (that, 13 Sentinels and Dreams), but hope the game isn't too far away.

I hope it is, I almost bought a PS5 bundle in the states when I was there.

But I am over buying a console for one or two games then maybe months later another plus subbing for online.

Ok, I take back what I said. Once you understand the horrible tutorial, CHAOS is GOODDD !
I have to force myself to stop playing right now. The class system is cool.

Jack is cool, too. There was a scene early on when I genuinely thought he was gonna punch the king :ROFLMAO:

I totally love both RE4 and I'm not saying this to in anyway be a douche, but this is why, even though I think OG RE4 is better than RE4 remake (only slightly, remake is totally GOTG), I'd never recommend anyone to play OG RE4. You kinda have to learn to embrace the tank controls.

I finished RE4. I liked it. But imho the tank controls have always sucked, there is no redeeming value to how RE4 controls. Remake is much more pleasant experience.

I mentioned this before but back in the day, the tank controls (and the isometric perspective of older games) made the RE series extremely unappealing to me. I could never get into any RE game, but since they switched to fluid controls and third person (and first person with VII and VIII) perspective, RE became one of my favourite series, and I loved every game they did since the first Revelations, basically.

I know some people like the tank controls, and the fixed cameras of the earlier, but I just dislike both and Im really glad that the RE series abadoned those. I recently saw a discussion on Twitter where someone asked "what other game in the RE series would you like remade" and when someone suggested RE1 some people seemed furious by the very idea of giving that game the RE engine remake treatment. I would love that, because then I'd actually enjoy playing RE1 :) (and its not like the old game would vanish...)

Agreed. RE1, 0 and CVX need modernising before they move on to RE5.

How is Shadow of War compared to Shadow of Mordor? I liked the first game, but I read rather mediocre reviews about the sequel, especially because it would be to bloated with repetitive tasks...

So was the rumors @lashman hinted to a few years ago about Dreams being EGS timed exclusive bullshit or what?
guess they changed their mind

¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

Who changed their mind? Sony, like did they pay to get out of the contract or Epic?
i think they just decided not to port it after all, maybe after all the hype died down (barely anyone talks about Dreams nowadays)

i don't know, just guessing

About MK, does the game look bad or is it EGS timed?

I bet the new MK has toned down violence or something, probably due to the fact that they've licensed a character from outside the MK universe to appear in the game and the IP owner doesn't want people to see their character getting dismembered/disemboweled/decapitated/worse.

After MKvsDC I sincerely doubt they'll ever pull that shit again.

Yea Dreams was never going to be what people envisioned it as far as potential etc.

A game like that will require massive longterm support from Sony. They've never been that type of developer. Their history with GaaS is weak and basically nonexistant. This kind of reminds me of that Project Spark thing that MS had to shutdown as well early in the last gen. If you want stuff like this to succeed you need to put thousands of employees on it working nonstop.

Wait, is there some kind of show tomorrow ? (regarding this MK thing)

-

NOW let’s talk about the IMPORTANT things.
Chaos.
Japanese developpers.
Windows.

Fascinating, I know. Two things I noticed.
- I have yet to confirm it, but the initial loading of the game may have a big and weird issue, at least on my machine. It takes forever. And a day. BUTTTTT, the second time I booted the game I opened task manager and bam, loaded right away.
So still have to confirm it but it seems there is a weird hold up on my machine. Does it make sense ?

- My sincere apologies to Japanese developers. The glyphs for start and select were inverted yesterday and I admit that my first reaction was ‘fucking Japanese dev’.
Boot up the game today. Glyphs are correct. Difference ? Yesterday I was playing with the xbox pad plugged and today unplugged.
And for the record it’s the second time I notice weird shit between plugged and unplugged. In Shadows of Valentia (Citra) if you set up the layout unplugged it won’t recognize the pad plugged, while the button attribution menu recognize the same function. Eg. X is still right X, but you need two profiles, one for plugged and another for unplugged).

I find those issues fascinating and would appreciate better versed people input. Like Durante (or anyone else :cat-heart-blob: )

Unfortunately this was a wall of text and I fear no one will suffer through it.

I did some benching of my own - In TLDR, Deep Learning Anti Aliasing is an absolute framerate-killer - Don't use it.

All benchmarks done in Path Tracing Mode

DLAA with Frame Generation - 40FPS AVG, really weird visual artifacts through frame-generation; Beer bottle jumping-around a table between frames, and light refracting in impossible directions

DLAA without Frame Generation - 22FPS AVG. Don't.

DLSS with Frame Generation - 102FPS AVG - Very smooth, no obvious visual issues

And, DLSS without Frame Generation - 43FPS. Playable, "smooth"-ish on a 120Hz screen. This was actually the second Benchmark I ran so I was thinking I was all set to go, but then I noticed DLAA was turned off and ran my third test (2nd on this post) with DLAA on thinking it would improve FPS. And that then prompted me to use Frame Generation without DLAA, realizing DLAA was the reason for all the visual artifacts. So there's really not much point to not using Frame Generation.

In TL;DR - Frame Generation is a fucking beast, but you need to feed it right - In principle, it seems to do the best job of improving framerate when it only needs to perform 2X-Reprojection, so ideally you're going to want to have at least 45FPS in real-framerate going in to DLSS3 for non-artifact 90+FPS

Update regarding original RE4 on the Deck.
If you switch to a mouse & keyboard control profile, and set it to use "modern" controls in game (which don't exist for gamepads) it gets a little bit more manageable...
