Looks like Heartbeat has just released. The art style looks very charming, and the "great soundtrack" tag got me interested. Does anyone have any impressions of it?
After years using piles of security software, and antivirus (and several times I experienced issues, from performance problems, download corruption, and more), on my latest PC, I have been using only Windows Defender, and so far it's getting the job done.I know Windows defender isn't the most secure but I'm so sick of the antiviruses being so goddamn annoying all the time. Windows defender just exists silently in the background and does its best.
Totally agree with everything you posted, and don't have much (anything? ) to add, but thought I'd post just saying I didn't take your reply to me as specifically against me.Edit: None of this is directed at you, Pixieking, I'm just trying to address some of these points, and points derived from said points, and still-irking me things. I am not under the impression that you are suggesting the Epic Store is great or anything here
Aw man, I was actually going to buy this. Epic Store is going to have to make a lot of changes before I'll touch it. If MS got me to touch the Windows Store then anything is possible.PC Gamer is going all in with the promotion of Epic Games, and it's store.
On twitter alone, they already posted 6 (?!) tweets today directly or indirectly related to Epic Games:

And on related news, another exclusive launch for the Epic Games Store, that was previously announced as a Steam launch: Maneater, by Tripwire Games.
Another game I will gladly skip. Especially coming from Tripwire, a publisher that, after stating that Killing Floor 2 would not have any microtransactions, and would only have DLCs, decided during Early Access to go back on their word.
i don't know either .... but it's pretty much the same for me as the quotes below .... been exclusively on win defender since win8 ... haven't had a single problem yet .... but then again - i don't go clicking random shady-looking stuff on the internet, so maybe it's not that great with stuff like that (not saying you would, but some people are like that, haha)Not directly Steam related but I'm kind of confused why people recommend Avast as an antivirus. It seems really terrible - constant notifications, constantly trying to get me to install and buy their PC optimization software, somehow snuck in the Avast Secure Browser past me and had it as a startup item in Windows. Is this really one of the less annoying options?

I've been using only Windows Defender since 8.1. I don't see what's wrong with it tbh. MS keeps it updated multiple times a day depending on your settings. I even turn off the live-protection and just let it run scans in non-active hours. These days Windows 10 is also smart enough to not run these scans when you game.
Other than that it's just smart and safe browsing. Don't download weird stuff. uBlock Origin, NoScript. I control all traffic in and out of my browser this way basically. Annoying to setup at first for sure but you settle into it. And once you get all your daily routine sites setup you only have to fiddle with things when you visit a new site for the first time.
One thing this showed me over time is really just how much tracking crap is on the net. Constant tracking scripts everywhere even in places you normally wouldn't expect. And uBlock's element picker is a god send. Don't like something on a webpage? Click it with the element picker to open a box that lets you add it to a blacklist and bam, you never have to see that element of a page again.
yeah, ads in software are always annoying ... ESPECIALLY antivir softwareI use Avira and MWB but I'm heavily considering stopping using Avira.
It does its job well but it's such a slow piece of software when it comes to full scans and is rather obtrusive with the ads it pops up for the upgraded packages.
I used to use Avast, but the constant ad nagging made me uninstall it and started to use Windows Defender. I used it maybe a year, then I tested to install a new AV software and scanned the computer and found a few viruses. I am not a person who visits suspicious sites, but still my computer was infected and that made me not trust Windows Defender anymore. It might have been improved since last time I used, but never I won't use it again. Not directly Steam related but I'm kind of confused why people recommend Avast as an antivirus. Free Antivirus Software - Download Bitdefender Antivirus FreeI just deleted Avast a couple of days ago because of its constant pop-up ads and other annoyances. The last straw was that it wouldn't let me open a file I knew was safe and just kept sending it to their own servers to vet it. My only fear is that I'm on Windows 7 now because of a hardware issue I have with W10 and I don't know how safe Defender is on the older OS.
If not I'll have a look at this.
The uppercase L gives more weight to your username, as if to say "Lock up your daughters, shoot your sons, because Lashman is comin' to town!" (I totally didn't steal that quote from one of Vice City's radio commercials)well akshully ... it's "lashman", not "Lashman" ... all lowercase
I liked the story a lot. It was just a series of random stories at first, but if you keep playing it all starts making sense and you learn how they are all connected. That's something I loved about it, the way it makes you go through the same events from different perspectives and see each character's motivations and feelings. Plus, the music is incredible.I still can't understand why oh why people like Fata Morgana as much, really baffling
I'm an equal opportunity guy, but when they just look like inflated balloons stuck to a character's chest, my motivation dies. I can't fap to that mang.Well, I like "boobs" as much as anyone, but I was just checking the Steam page for NetherWorld, a new game that lashman liked to on another thread, and on the "more like this" section I came across a game called "Boobs Saga", from a developer called, guess what, "Boobs Dev"?
And there's even a prequel called "Bloody Boobs"?
Such, originality.
Bloody Boobs? that's Nahkapukki's GOTYWell, I like "boobs" as much as anyone, but I was just checking the Steam page for NetherWorld, a new game that lashman linked to on another thread, and on the "more like this" section I came across a game called "Boobs Saga", from a developer called, guess what, "Boobs Dev"?

I'm starting to wonder if these games are made by guys who never saw a naked woman before.I'm an equal opportunity guy, but when they just look like inflated balloons stuck to a character's chest, my motivation dies. I can't fap to that mang.

First post since registration, OniluapL was probably too afraid to say hibut ... you've been here since Friday
So, here's the thing, funny story. I created the account and then forgotten about it because... My uni email had expired (it's a redirect to my normal email), and I couldnt finish the registration (I renewed it, I think it's working now). Then I remembered and went to finish it but my account seems to already be fully working? Did I find a loophole? This post was actually a test, lol.but ... you've been here since Friday

Yes Fata Morgana was an incredible journey. Went to some really dark places too.I liked the story a lot. Nice, I added I Have No Mouth and Shadowrun Dragonfall. Never played them on Steam, and I'll never play them on GOG, but it's still nice to own them.New games have been added to GOG.com Connect.
You can also receive Full Throttle Remastered for free.
Whenever it got dark, it got really dark. I'd love to find more VNs like it. And today I discovered there's an extra episode (called Reincarnation) included on the Vita version of Fata Morgana, so I hope they release it on PC one day.Yes Fata Morgana was an incredible journey. Plus how often do you see a gothic Japanese VN?
Try launching the game on Steam, close it, and then press the refresh button on the GOG Connect section of the GOG website.H, that site looks the same to me (well, not in french), I can't get Age of Wonders 3 recognised.
I actually have the paid version of Bitdefender for my Mac (not sure if it's worth it tbh), but I do like being able to run a scan a few times a week just to make sure everything is fine. Seems to work pretty well to me.
