Oh, out of the 3 Star Wars movies which I skipped, there is only one (The Last Jedi) which is part of the last trilogy. That is why I thought I only missed one.

The other two are Rogue One and Solo. They are not part of a trilogy, like Clone Wars, which I also missed.

Damn, the movies are getting out of control.

They don't want to pay the engine license's fees. That is sadly very common with Japanese developers, it's been a hot topic in fighting games for a long time.
So why not use an existing engine that's free? Lumberyard?
I guess there's limited Japanese support.

Would be interested in your opinion on TLJ once you have seen it (if you actually plan to catch up with the movies, that is). It's a bit divisive, to say the least.

My biggest dissapointment hearing about the movie is

that how Palpatine survived and what he has been doing is not explained, he just happens to be somehow alive and Snoke was his creation
The Snoke=Palp puppet is.... whatever. Lame. As to how Palps did it, in Legends the answer was "Sith Magic" which isn't an answer anyone wants lol, so better left with the prequel explanation (abilities unnatural)

I can't "blame" you for that.

I have tickets for a Star Wars marathon (Episode 7 + 8 + 9), but since I'm still at work, I won't make it in time (it starts in little less than an hour).
I bought the tickets because a friend wanted to go (a couple of months ago), but he will also be unable to attend.
So, I'm still debating if I'll be going to watch Episode 9 later today.

Personally, I don't have much expectations, and I'm struggling to find interest in attending, even though I have tickets paid already. Not because of the bad reviews, but simply because the franchise don't mean anything to me any more.
Like many people, I liked the original trilogy, but I was bored and appalled by the pointless prequel trilogy (especially episodes 2 and 3), and while I had some hope for the new trilogy, after they brought back the characters and actors many people wanted to see back, and I found episode 7 to be a nice way of re-introducing people to the franchise, and introduce the new good and bad guys, I found episode 8 to be a complete train-wreck.
I'm not expecting "rocket science" from a Star Wars movie, just to have a decent time for a couple of hours. Something I can't say I had with the previous film.

The Last Jedi killed my interest in the series. I know different people have different tastes and all, but I honestly don't understand why some people liked The Last Jedi as much as they did, and even go as far as to call it as the best in the series. It's like I watched a different movie, and not a complete mess where pretty much nothing happens for much of the film, characters (like Finn) seem to be forgotten for long stretches of time, and old characters are there just to be killed off. Even by "blockbuster" standards, I found it to be an unredeemable mess.

EDIT:
I just read a review that called The Last Jedi a film that "decried nostalgia", and "ambitious and polarizing".
Again, I don't get it.
Apparently, that hack is brilliant and ambitious, because applying the good old Hollywood "ageism" in a narrative is "decrying nostalgia".
And lauding a Star Wars film because it's... unlike a Star Wars film. Ah, brilliant indeed.
The Last Jedi needed to happen over the course of a month, not like a week or whenever. That's my biggest problem with the film. The stuff with Canto bright was thematically something Star Wars has needed for FOREVER in its films. (Slavery, War Profiteering, the sins of the elite, this is covered EXTENSIVELY in the old EU) I was fine with Luke being depressed and hermiting away for awhile (This came from legends as well, although there it was a shorter period). I've seen it before. The light/dark side being one thing as a whole was covered extensively in the old EU as well and at one point ALL of the new Jedi used both sides of the force for a long while.

The one thing that ALWAYS annoyed the shit out of me where all of the fans SCREAMING about how the force belonged to everyone and not ONE SACRED bloodline. Fool, I've been reading the EU for 15 years, no fucking shit, like were the fuck have you been? TLJ DEFENDERS! are just as bad as the TLJ HATERS! when it comes to reasonable discussion. (TLJ HATERS! have cornered the market on harassment and social media campaigns of hate tho)

I didn't like Last Jedi much, but I really respect Rian for trying to do something new, giving SW a new direction. He was not fit for SW, but he is a great director and writer. His latest movie, Knives Out (a murder mystery) is apparently a fantastic movie.

Rogue One was such a disappointment for me (only the final battle is enjoyable imo) that I haven't even bothered to watch Solo yet. Clone Wars is not bad, but after season 1 I didn't feel the urge to watch another season.

I liked The Force Awakens, despite the high been-there-done-that level. And I also enjoyed The Last Jedi - minus the casino part and Luke's behavior. But both movies didn't give me the same Star Wars feeling as the original trilogy did.

Don't forget the people who mask paragraphs of pretend CEO decision making as stealth portbegging. Imagine thinking a company who's been around for 40~ years and just had record profits is gonna die because you can't play it on your handheld on day one lmao.

Agreed. The story was flawed - at least for hardcore Star Wars fans - but the execution of the movie was extremely well done imo.

I've also seen the first "New Xbox makes PC gaming obsolete" threads and articles popping up. It's the same shit at the start of each console generation. Plenty of people also seem to think that the new consoles will be up to par with an RTX2080Ti.

I would say Solo is easily the best one Disney put out so you should check it out when you have the chance. It was the only one that felt like a true Star Wars adventure movie from start to finish for me. It properly focused on the main and supporting characters while having charm, humor, interesting story beats, etc.

But ofc the internet hated it and people are more obsessed with casting choices and/or the amount of money a movie makes instead of actually caring about what was put together on film for them.

I've made a heated post in that thread, nobody disrespects Obsidian on my watch (with or without Avellone around) and I kinda regret that...but, that Cooper guy is an asshole and his entire twitter chain doesn't make him sound much better. I'd also take plenty of MS published games over whatever big cinematic event Sony cooks in their kitchen.

Solo? Ahhh......

Its technically brilliant and entertaining but to present that story as the origin of han solo in its entirety, that's a let down. Better off just leaving it to speculation.

Just today, two people with background related to Sony said their opinion against Microsoft lol. This one year will be fun.

It's fun for a while but months and months of this shit gradually escalating gets old really quickly now i've seen it happen like clockwork for decades.

It won't impact me as MC is my home now and i can't really see that kind of stuff being posted here too much as there's no point but most other online gaming spaces especially console oriented spaces will be toxic cess-pools with very little intelligent discussion going between now and a few months after launch.

It was fun when i was 11 and dishing out painful truths to the Commodore 64 fanboys but now, meh, can't be arsed stan'ing for a corporation that isn't even part of my identity.

Seen that one too. Nice try on their part, but best looking games are on multiplatform because strong art direction is amplified by better hardware (on PC).
Yeah I agree with him that the best looking games is because of art direction rather than power but it's not just Playstation that do this.

Yep. From all the screenshots I've seen Gears 5 looks fantastic (at least in static). RDR2 is beautiful. And then there's plethora of stylized, artistic games like Gris, Night In The Woods, Sayonara Wild Hearts etc. PlayStation doesn't have a monopoly on good art direction.

I know it's a big franchise and all but I can't wait for being somewhere on the internet and not see any Star Wars discussion happening. But probably even in 50 years we will see people still saying how The Last Jedi ruined their lives.

There are plenty of Switch games that look better than Far Cry 5, despite the power difference between my PS4 and the switch.

As to console wars, just wait 10 years and we'll be raging about which datacenter has better cooling setup and more famous admins. :/

Now that Disney has their three mouse fingers all over it, the ride will never end lol. Isn't everyone happy that Disney brought star wars back??

Sorry for the self-promotion, but I added more games to my post on the buy/sell/trade thread:

If anyone is looking for a game that was recently bundled, do check my list. ;)

Just in time for Winter Seal.....they should at least offer a $5 or so tier to entice interested players.
They confimed in their livestream that it’d have a early access discount and people who own tapsonic get an additional one.

This is basically the fourth console "generation" launch I fully witness, and it really is the exact same shit every time.

Luckily, I'm now on MetaCouncil pretty much exclusively in terms of forums, and most people here seem to share a (in my opinion much more healthy) attitude in the "it's that time again" to the "kind of neat" spectrum.
It's really relaxing.

Blade Runner is cool, getting large hits of nostalgia.

Cant seem to add it as a Steam game though, i want to use my Steam controller. It doesnt seem to recognise the game shortcut but does launch some weird emulator? front screen. Anybody got it going on Steam?

Tried it and seems to work for me  I don't have yet the GOG Galaxy 2 and added Galaxy executable as non-Steam shortcut.

Um, is using fast mode in idle master safe? I'm kinda afraid to get banned for running it, but the alternative is a month of grind.

I enjoy console launches just for the news in tech, all those people who are emotionaly involved in brand wars are just sad to me, I've witness pretty much all the generations transitions, back in the day console wars was a somewhat fun market ploy and everybody I knew talked shit between us as a gag, the end of the day we would play games on any console, I had Sega and my friend had Nintendo, so we and all our friends used to get togheter one day in my house to play Master System/Mega Drive and the next day we were on his house playing NES/SNES, we used to rent games for each other to play togheter, everything was in fun and jest. After Xbox360 and the advent of the internet, Console discourse became something else, was unberable, and I was glad I noped out of consoles when the Dreamcast died.

Todays culture where people self indentify with brands shit got out of hand, and common sense became offensive to some.

Hmmm. Weird. Is not showing up for me and only lets me add \Blade Runner\ScummVM\ which boots a separate launcher thing but i cant load the game from it.

Also tried without GOG Galaxy, worked too (had to use Big Picture mode and change the controller to WASD + Mouse in Steam controller config).

Shortcut is like this:
Target: "C:\GOG\Blade Runner\ScummVM\scummvm.exe" -c "..\project_nov.ini" project-nov
Start in: "C:\GOG\Blade Runner\ScummVM\"

Bah. All it does for me is open a ScummVM screen but from there nothing happens and i cant add anything to the list to launch. Oh well. Ill just play with Mouse.

Yeah, although the "news in tech" aspect is a lot less exciting these days (and with PS4/XB1 already) than it used to be in the PS3/PS2 days. Those were wild machines.

It's really a case of "you probably shouldn't post if you don't know what you're talking about" but bless the people that do anyway because reading it makes my currently slow workdays till my vacation starts just a bit more bearable.
