Biggest issue i have with this is that same people who screamed that everyone should ban Truth for example and cheered that Apple or google i can't remember refused to host it (due to some app issues not politics) are now complaining. Second thing this is probably more move related to Twitter wanting to become more than just social network and introduce monetized content in bigger way. Remember how we were all reacting to developers promoting Epic Store exclusives on Steam. But they are approaching it in wrong way in my opinion, just like Epic did with Epic Store, fight with better content not with banning things and stupid rules.
That's only a valid viewpoint if you believe good and evil are the same, actually.

When you are making rules those rules apply to same subset of things. When you ban Adult Only content for example you ban all of it not just naked pictures of people. And that is where my comment about stupid rules and wrong approach comes. If you are banning competition you should ban all of it. There is no room for picking and choosing. And regarding good and evil thing, let's not pretend that every single platform with human interaction doesn't face same issues. We can say a lot of good things about Steam but it has more issues regarding evil things than Twitter. But because it is basically side thing in Steam ecosystem it doesn't attract same amount of attention as stupid things that Musk is doing on Twitter.

Nah, the word should be free. If a developer wants to announce a Switch port of their game in their Steam feed, there's really no consequence.

High On Life has reached a concurrent peak of over 11,500 players.

Really impressive numbers for a singleplayer FPS game that's also on Game Pass. While its Metacritic score is low (67 PC, 61 Xbox), it's experiencing positive word-of-mouth throughout social media and Steam, where it currently sits at an 89% overall review rating.

Cold take: the vast majority of people playing games on PC either don't care or don't know about PC game pass.

Please elaborate. Looking for a game to play next week (short vacation).
I'm not the poster you're quoting but I'm also playing Chained Echoes so here are some of my thoughts. I wasn't expecting it to be very polished or being an incredible game as it was solely developed by one person (except for the music) but it managed to surpass my expectations.

Story wise I can't comment too much as I'm still in first act, though it is classical JRPG so far as people of different backgrounds join forces to stop a big menace.

The game seems o be heavily inspired by Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy from SNES era and some people even say Xenogears (I never played it so I can't comment). The pixel art is incredible and the music is also amazing.

There are no random encounters, you can see the enemies when you're exploring so it's easy to avoid battles even though it's also easy to run from the battles. After combat is finished your HP and TP are replenished so there is no need to find a place for rest, or spend time outside the battle healing your characters.

Still talking about the combat, it's turn based as expected and the big difference from the games it took inspiration is the Overdrive Bar. You start every battle in the neutral part, once you take actions the cursor will move until reaching a zone where you deal more damage and has a higher defense, but if you keep using skills that raise the bar you will overheat and take more damage from enemies.

To lower your overdrive you can use a skill from the same type it shows in bar, change characters in the battle (it's a free action so your turn isnt wasted), defending or using an ultimate skill.

I agree my point is just that reactions to similar tings are different. Valve knew that they are big enough to do nothing when whole Epic thing was at it's prime so they did nothing, hell they even encouraged developers to keep their Steam pages and post content. That is why this rule is stupid. When you are big as Twitter Mastodon is meaningless, Instagram and Facebook are totally different and don't have same users. only logical thing about this is again desire to create platform more focused on content that can be monetized and can attract people from those other social networks. But even with that in mind it is stupid, as Epic thing proved you can't build successful platform with various arbitrary restrictions and half baked features. Especially not by banning competition.

posted this in the otherforum thread about the High on life discrepancy between user score and MC score:

The thing about professional reviewers and Indie games is this:

  • if the game/dev was so unknown that they got no reviews prior to being released/blowing up/massively good user reviews ---> Reviewers will "test" the game and nod wisely, that the game is good, they always thought that, they just couldn't review all good little games.
  • if the game somehow gets noticed either through hype, chance, or notable persons/devs involved, the reviewers will review the game and 90% of the time they will not get it right, they will not predict what will be a hit, they will not proclaim a hidden gem, because they are, for decades now, completely adrift from what consumers like in the indie sphere.

Ok, here we go.

Arroz de pato

Basically a duck risotto with a crispy layer on top. It's one of my favorites and you really don't know how amazing this is until you try it.

Cozido à portuguesa

Literally the portuguese stew. One of the most emblematic dishes and probably the main reason for a lot of Portugal's health problems. A mix of lots of different types of meat and vegtables.

Francesinha

Considered one of the best sandwiches in the world and one of the biggest calorie bombs there is.

There are a ton of dishes with codfish and they are all amazing. For example Bacalhau à brás:

And of course, alheira:

Basically a smoked sausage unlike anything you've seen before.

There is so much more though, these are just some of my favorites,
Thank you very much for this post!! This looks amazing :cryblob: That Cozido looks like a killer, literally - I can spy a lot of high cholesterol ingredients on that plate lol. Beef tripe and blood sausage in the same stew is a "Why Not Both?" idea :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Sadly, it looks like my taste test of this stuff is gonna have to wait until I go on vacation - apparently, there was just the one "legit" Portuguese restaurant in Manila (O'Sonho), and it didn't survive the COVID-19 lockdowns. :tired-face:
Hnggggg! Regency Solitaire 2!! Be still my heart. :smiling-face-with-heart-shaped-eyes:

There's a few portuguese dishes that are pretty much just "why not". xD
One I can think of, when I was a kid I wasn't very fond of soups, but I loved this one, "caldo verde".

Rolled credits in P5R. Platinum and all.

Great update to a great game. A+
Still not on my game of the year list, but really only because I'd already played P5. If I hadn't it probably be near the top.

Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion done. I liked it a lot, I never played the original and I was reading the comparisons between versions and yeah, OG CC would be a pain in the ass to play nowadays lol, so I think it's a very good remaster with a whole bunch of QoL features.

There's a restaurant with that exact name in my city.
It's a shame the one in your area didn't make it.

By the way there was worry that in Japan that Dead Space would be banned. I'm not sure about on consoles but at least for PC it looks like people will be able to play the game there in Japan.

The other option would have been to import the game for consoles.

So yeah people were worried that it would be banned but it doesn't look like that's the case

As for Castillo Project or what ever it's called was going to release in Japan but it didn't pass CERO and they just decided not to release there at all (even the PC version was region locked there as well), this is all despite the fact that the game has JPN VA, text, substitutes and everything else. Even if the consoles versions got banned they could have still possibly gotten it released on PC at least.

After the ban and after the game was released, people were able to find other means to buy the game within Steam even though technically the game blocked in Japan. One method was to have the game be a part of your wishlist and add it to your cart fron your wishlist, I think there was even a link you could click and it would send you to where you could add it. So non VPN work around did exist. .

More Steam Deck stuff, it such a shame at what GPD Win are. The Steam Deck must have shocken them up a LOT!!!!! Even before the Steam Deck was officially out, they were saying their stuff was better and things like that, but now that the GPD Win 4 is being crowded funded, if you go to their main information page you will see that the campaign remarks are "better than Steam Deck".

☝ new game from Paratopic devs!
fun fact: this is actually a remake of a game that was originally released on PC as a Humble Monthly exclusive in 2019. I tried it then and didn't much care for it (it was a hybrid of VN and walking simulator that didn't seem to do either genre particularly well), but it sounds like the devs weren't at all happy with how it turned out, which is why it was never released on other platforms or storefronts. fortunately, this remake looks quite a bit different from what I remember, so fingers crossed it turns out better
