DigiMor: Next Morder? The only game I care about right now is Digimon: Next Order
Ahh, I see. I didn't know she said that. Well then, people should prove her wrong.Rowling has said the success of Hogwarts Legacy will be an endorsement/vindication of her views.
Yes.Is the source material filled with J.K. Rowling's views?
Being arrogant is very different to inciting and funding violence against a minority.Andrzej Sapkowski, the creator of Witcher, is not the greatest person. At least from what I know, he is not nearly on the level of Rowling, but he is still an arrogant, self-loving a-hole.
People still get laid off even after the studio makes record profits.'m sure she will get royalties from this game, but by not buying the game you also hurt those who spend years developing the game. And we know what happens when the game underperforms - it's very often followed by the news of studio layoffs.
Yeah, that's about what I'd expect from those places, tbh. I understand wanting to boycott the game over Rowling but you seriously need to live in a bubble to think that everyone is aware of it. Or that someone is terrible for buying it for, say, their kids. These people are just terminally online and are best ignored.I read on Twitter and ERA that "person plays HL" = "automatically a bad person"
Augusta looking gorgeous but not 70$ gorgeous.
The ports of GTA DE are still dogshit no?
of course, duhAre there still technical issues?
At this point I'm convinced that it's all because of one idiot at Ubisoft vetoing it or something equally asinine. It's actually funny that Rockstar have had Steam achievement support on all their games. How can it be that hard to Ubisoft?
FML, same day as Persona 3.Out now
Before anyone goes "Why didn't Valve advertise Factorio there, HUH?"
wait, whats the Yoko Littner from??So I started P3P after just finishing 120 hours of P5R last week (plus playing SMT3 Nocturne & Soul Hackers 2 last year).
I make strange choices sometimes... but at least the first P3P achievement got me this:
A puzzler called Only if. I don't remember much, except for this achievement.wait, whats the Yoko Littner from??
and will release later in January on the Epic Games store.
Oh come on, no one is actually saying this.I read on Twitter and ERA that "person plays HL" = "automatically a bad person"
Oh please, this is something you just made up in your mind, no one is actually saying this.
This person isn't explicitly saying if you play the game in a vacuum, you're a bad person. The context here implies if you're aware of the creator's hateful behavior, and is still fine with supporting them, people can judge you for it.
This is just one of the more notable accounts that popped up on my timeline with that sentiment. I did saw literally tweets that sad that if they see any of their followers or friends play the game that they are bad people and that they are done with them. This person isn't explicitly saying if you play the game in a vacuum, you're a bad person. The context here implies if you're aware of the creator's hateful behavior, and is still fine with supporting them, people can judge you for it.
Do what you will with that information as you please, but there's no need to extrapolate it to something about people who are oblivious to this and just want to relax and play a game after a 10 hour work day are inherently bad people.
I agree with you in principle. And regarding Hogwarts Legacy. I was always open that i will play game and i said multiple times both here and at other places that i stopped caring where money from my purchases is going because i would go insane. And i can't pick and chose which group of people is more or less worthy so i can base my purchasing decisions on that. Are minorities in China that are exploited less worthy than other groups so i can be fine with purchasing electronic devices that are probably assembled by those people that are paid nothing and in many cases exposed to toxic environment without protection? Is it fine to buy games where money is going to Chinese government that treat their citizens badly? Is it fine to by games from US companies that spend that money on politicians and other ways that impact people around the world not just in US (in some cases even financing wars)? Is it fine to spend money on games from developers like Activision Blizzard where suicide happened because of harassments inside company? Is it fine to buy food with questionably sourced ingredients? Where should we draw the line?
As much as it looks bad that JK is getting some money from Hogwarts Legacy i can guarantee you that your money is ending up in far worse places with or without your knowledge. That is why is stopped caring about that and started caring about people around me, people that i directly help when and if i can and because i was both raised in multicultural family and taught since i was a kid not to make any difference among people. That is why i am trying to be decent human being to everyone who i meet and know (and sometimes even get screwed because i can get naïve). And i would like to think that over the years from GAF to Era and now here i at least showed that to so some of you.
But developers also went and even added things that author speak against. Character creator is one of it for example. And of course you have right to both do and speak what you wish. It's your life and your choices that should be respected and acknowledged. That is why i was open here and didn't hide behind Steam Invisible mode or hide in general that i intend to lay the game.I agree with you in principle.
But Hogwarts Legacy isn't just a game inside a world from an awful author. It has values and themes from that awful author's view still on display.
I won't condemn anyone buying and playing the game, but I will boycott it and tell people why I boycott it.
