Oh, I have been interested in Surviving Mars. Too bad it's just the base game. It just sucks that buying the season pass is more expensive than the First Colony Edition

Base game is still pretty good, I really enjoyed it but yeah the dlc prices suck for a lot of those types of games.

I don't quite get the negativity here. Sure you might personally don't find the games appealing (or already have them) but objectively this month was really great and the unlocks for next month are great too, soooo wtf?

Maybe it came off more negative than intended? Objectively maybe but I've had trouble finding even a single game I'm interested in each month so not a good value. And instead of continuing to pause where I might forget and get charged I'd rather cancel outright. Not sure what's so wtf about it?

Maybe. I think all the games this month and the early unlocks for next month are above "decent" category.
It sounded like "meh, trash as usual! will cancel!"

So if you own the base game and do the bundle stuff, does it just minus the base game price? If so that means KCD royal ed is 7$ and then SM bundled one is 5$....

The July monthly was fantastic for me, Moonlighter, Hellblade, Mechanicus, Road Redemption were all on my wishlist, that's a crazy value. And love is dead / NAIRI I've not heard of but both look nice. Surviving Mars from next month has also been an almost-bought a half dozen times. I was probably never going to buy Kingdom Come but from a bundle, maybe I'll give it a go. These make up for the past couple months of incredible meh for me :p

Edit: Unfortunately the Surviving Mars various bundles on Steam don't seem to be removing the base game when I look at them, so that sorta sucks. I'll probably wait to play it until I can get the Season Pass cheap because I've heard Green Planet adds a lot, and I am sure I want Laika as well.

Well, Mechanicus is XCOM with a Warhammer 40K flavor. Very good reception, only downside is it was too easy for some at release. Don't know if it has been fixed.
This sounds awesome, but not worth subscribing to Monthly

Was a nice month for me.
I had none of the mystery unlocks on my wishlist, but they all look interesting enough.

Of course none of the games I bought in the sale were in the bundle or the new highlights, so as expected I worried for nothing.
...At least I can now start playing them properly :p

999 is pretty great so far.

Interested in the monthly for Kingdom Come... but ultimately, do I really want another game without all the DLC?

The very concept of the season pass and the GaaS model means that I'm not even bothering with anything at this point.
Either the game is complete, or I will throw it into the "maybe one day for cheap"... which means years in the wishlist before being removed when I just don't care anymore.
Also, I can't get a refund with the humble monthly, that's a huge deal now... thanks competition I guess? I don't have a backlog anymore, I just remove anything that I don't like instantly, and I am significantly less likely to buy games without a refund.
If I don't play right now, they won't see my money, and probably never.

But hey, I will play things on GamePass because Timespinner seems cool.
Never expected in a million years that Microsoft would be the company to offer me something interesting, and cheap to boot.

For me the as I get older, the only time where I get annoyed getting a game without DLC is if that DLC is part of the base game, as in it changes the base game itself. So games where the DLC is extra..I am fine. Beginning to value playing more then saving a few bucks.

I think there's Royal Edition DLC bundle, which is much cheaper. (I cannot open store pages for some reason)

Ah I see what you mean, if you click on DLC there is a bundle that isn't listed on main page that is just DLC and not base game lol...why nto just make the royal edition on main page a CTB then lol

I didn't talk about it here (only on Discord), but the situation with the Destiny 2 Shadowkeep expansion going up in price here in Argentina has been resolved, thanks to... Steam and Bungie forums (yeah, despite what certain industry luminaries say, forums are very useful in many situations).

(the TL;DR for this story is that a troll posted on Bungie's forums saying the price was bugged here because we had actually competent regional pricing, a Spanish moderator who doesn't seem to know the meaning of the word "empathy" agreed and sent the "feedback" upwards, someone who didn't know about regional pricing updated the price so it had parity with the US, people from Argentina started opening threads calling for Bungie to revert this stupid idea, and today Bungie said they will do so next week)

Shantae 5 Opening by Studio TRIGGER. (Kill La Kill fame.)

Looks great, neat idea for a collab and totally wouldn't mind a Shantae anime someday. (y)

Yeah that looks like Trigger :D

Also is Cristina Vee now in charge of singing all western anime-style openings?
This and River City Girls, lol.

That scene at 0:13 is essentially a trigger signature scene by now

I had a great vacation with my family in the Belgian "Ardennen", far away from pc's, internet, gaming (except for some Steamworld Heist on my Vita) and Epic. 😍

Any important things I missed in the past 7 days?

Tim Sweeney, our lord and savior, has liberated this forum from the evil clutches of tyrann lashman

They didn't bring their Inferno Cop A-game though.

lashman now encourages anime
Doesn't just encourage it, he IS anime now. Not sure how they pulled it off but it's taking some getting used to.
My shilling game continues to be on point
Ha! No complaining from me. :p

Advice for games like that is always welcome. I'm pretty excited to jump back in! :)

KDC and Surviving Mars in the latest humble bundle is interesting. Especially KDC has been on my wistlist for a while, but Deep Silver as publisher turned me off each time I considered buying it. I'll sleep on it once more tonight. 😊

I don't remember, how are servers handled in FF14 ?
I mean would I be able to do dungeons with friends who are not on the same server ?
Adventuring is a no, I suppose ?

It break my heart to see so many players here and knowing I will have to choose another server and group with idiots (yeah, I've got a good viewpoint about life :drinking-blob: )
Are there Euro players here ?

Edit - We should tote go on Monster Hunts too !
Edit 2 - Sorry for the spam, you don't post enough and I've got too much free time.
Edit 3 - I would have liked to find something to put here but such is life.
Edit 4 - Edit 4 was here.

I think that as long as you're in the same Data Center you can play with friends on dungeons or raids.

To add to what NarohDethan said, I think EU used to only have one datacenter, but I believe they split the servers into two datacenter for Europe earlier this year so that kinda sucks. I believe they offered free world transfers but that might have been only for a limited time. But if you haven't started at all yet, it might be worth looking into what server your friends play on.

Also I think there's some of us that play on EU FFXIV here.

I got the first ending in 999!
That was both faster than expected (just 4 hours) and not conclusive at all, lol. Time to hit the other routes.
According to the flowchart I literally went "left" on every decision, haha.

Servers are grouped by data centers, and you do dungeons with people on other servers in the same data center.

E.g., Ultros is a pretty popular server for a bunch of streamer and forum communities (Era is there, GB, EZA and a few others), and is part of the Primal datacenter. So if you're on Ultros, you do content with anyone from a Primal server which would include Behemoth, Excalibur, Exodus, Famfrit, Hyperion, Lamia and Leviathan.

Depending on if you have friends you already want to play with, something you MIGHT want to research is what servers and data centers are known for. Some servers are known for being very, very RP friendly. Some are even more particularly LGBT focused. Some are super hardcore raiders. Some are known for housing various IRL communities. Etc.

E.g.:

Ultros: Lots of midcore/semihardcore communities from IRL/preexisting communities like GB/EZA/ERA/etc.
Balmung: RP haven. Actually more of an ERP haven in particular.
Faerie: Everyone is gay here.
Moogle: Supposedly a French paradise (or hell if you're not French).
Gilgamesh: Hardcore raiding, also filled with lots of people trying to get carried by the hardcore.
Famfrit/Lamia: Both have a possibly unfair reputation for being full of noobs and bad players.
Tonberry: Known as the gaijin server. Join if you want to help JPN players learn English, or play on a JPN server that has a lot of English speakers.

However, most of this doesn't matter though because of the mentioned ability to play with people across the datacenter. So yes, Lamia could be noob-haven, but you can play with people from Ultros and Excalibur anyways, so it doesn't really matter too much.

The biggest thing, when possible (assuming no preexisting commitment to friends and such), is getting on a preferred server, because of the EXP boost you get. It's not a deal-breaker though, and I joined a Primal server that had no EXP bonus and was fine.

Should note that Balmung is locked 99% of the time and Mateus is where RPers go when they cant get to Balmung. Also said server was a nightmare and I dipped to Faerie as soon as those free transfers went live.

Dead or School did not have the jank I expected. It actually wasn't bad for $10 which is both disappointing, but pleasantly surprising.
I bought the game on early access, and what I played in an earlier, incomplete state, was actually pretty fun.

I actually posted about the game before. The only reason I didn't make a particular recommendation was because the game has some gratuitous "fan service", which I know is a deal breaker for some.

I'm glad you are getting some enjoyment from it. ;)

The upcoming re-release of the FMV game Corpse Killers will be filled with extras:

On a side note, anyone up to create a thread about FMV games?
I would do so myself, but unfortunately I currently lack the time to make a "pretty" OT (and English being a second language makes things a bit harder), but I would gladly participate in it, and post updates about new releases.

I almost can't even imagine anymore what it's like being 4 hours into 999, knowing the directions in which the franchise goes.

I would make the recommendation and just put a little warning for those who hate fan service. I will recommend the hell out of Saya no Uta when it comes out.
