As expected Monster Boy is already on the top sellers second page. Late port, bad regional pricing, and even bad timing (released at night for the US and really in the morning for the EU, instead of releasing on Steam daily update + Quakecon sale with historical lows).
I finished the demo in one setting and was pleasantly surprised when I checked the store page and realised the full game was unlocking at 3pm local time, but, yeah, the regional pricing is absurd. If it's not fixed, I'll be waiting for a 50% discount.

Will see when my head clears out ,need to check how it looks on the phone first anyway before going all fuck phone users and deciding what to do
I just want to say I really appreciate what you are trying to do and keeping us up to date will all the gaming news is something I look forward to read each day. I wish you to keep posting trailers and what not in this thread. I have a large data cap and a more than capable smartphone so it never bothers me. Even if I run out of data cap, I'll probably upgrade my plan or buy more data cap so I can enjoy your work rather than go and complain at you. So yeah, I hope you'll keep doing what you're doing.

I don't think you can go back once you cross that line. GaaS is like a disease with no cure for dev teams. Once you change the culture for a company and start pursuing MTX, loot boxes, co-op, content updates etc its pretty much becomes permanent.

Seeing what happened with Fallout 76, Youngblood and the new Arkane IP...I think its safe to say the singleplayer only future is dead at Bethesda. The Bat signals are all turned on for Wolf3 development. Even DOOM Eternal is pushing some stupid 2v1 mode.

And worst of all Starfield + Elder6 will most likely have online/GaaS mechanics of some kind :(

RIP #saveplayer1
Considering this isn't even part of the main series and they are working on one for the main series we should be patient.

yeah, i doubt they'll fix it, sadly

maybe in like a month when they finally realize barely anyone from those poorer countries is buying it

but it's definitely very intentional and premeditated ... to the point where they said they'd "fix" the regional prices when people started complaining about them ... and they only "fixed" them for 4 countries ... and even then those new prices are still nowhere near volvo's suggestions (or anyhing sane really)

so yeah ... we'll probably have to wait for a deep sale

I guess I'll stop with Parkasaurus a bit until it gets the breeding update. Already got plenty for what I paid, though. Anyway, I think I should try Hitman 2 sometime.

Am I the only one who thought that it's a gif and waited it to load for so long only to realize that it's not?

omg omg omg omg

The prequel game to Girls' Frontline (that gacha I'm always on about) is getting a remake AND coming to Steam. Holy fuggg. 👌

Looks interesting. What kind of strategy game is it? I played Girls' Frontline but it kinda looks different from the short clips in the trailer.

Define "weird"
Well, first it showed me prices in dollars, then it changed my local store from Russia to Norway. Restarting the client fixed the issue, but I wonder if Galaxy 2 soon will be out of beta?

My first anime was Sailor Moon back in 96 followed by Ninja Scroll in 97, slightly different experiences.

Half tempted to ask for someone to buy me that Russian Steam ver. of Youngblood, but iirc, region switching has a 7 day cooldown right?

The more baffling thing is Koikatsu Party being a top seller despite being $60.

Since it's basically a waifu maker game, and they even show that you can do lewd stuff to said waifus in one of the trailers on its Steam page, well, I can see why it sells at that price.

The market for GaaS is crowded beyond belief right now and I am surprised at how many games are treading water in it even now, but the competition for a decent linear co-op FPS is way the hell smaller
There is no GaaS market: GaaS is a method, not a genre.

The market is player attention. You want players to come back frequently (if possible, daily) and launch your game to complete daily quests, play time-limited content, etc. because that it the best way to:
  • keep a large player base over time (retention, important for multiplayer games),
  • have a chance that players buy DLC. Steam wishlists are correlated with sales. Similarly, player retention must be correlated with MTX sales.
There is no reason to refuse to compete over player attention with GaaS methods, because they have proved their efficiency. If you look at what you play, maybe you will notice a trend. In my case, I play GaaS a lot more than non-GaaS games, even if some of these GaaS games are F2P and not as good as the non-GaaS games which I bought full-price on day 1.

i see quite a trend that all the GaaS nonsense is pushing me away from AAAs .....I play and buy more and more (like a lot) indiesand if its AAA with or without GaaS bullshit - its usually one thats content complete and with devs already staying away from it and focusing on next project

But i guess I am the weirdo and we are all doomed , because maisntream is pretty much all about pseudosocial, faux-RPG elements ,quantity over quality, big world with copypasta generated content that is "better with friends", timed challenges/events and the most glorious of them all "please login everyday to our game whale-sama , we will give you this shiny trinket, its awesome we promise" kind of noncontent

Kinda feels like i rant about this sorry state of gaming every other week at this point .... but well they have proffesional psychologist on board now, specialized on how to get people hooked , we are sure to fail anyway

I notice that all those "player retention mechanisms" are turning me away from those games to begin with. I start some of those F2P gacha games now and then, but I always drop them quickly because those daily login rewards etc always start to feel like a chore or an obligation quickly and I can't be bothered with that nonsense, so more often than not I ignore those games without giving them a try at all.
Even in Monster Hunter World I found myself ignoring the time-limited events quickly, because I'm "done" with the game after the story, and aside from rarely going on a hunt with a friend I will only really be back with Iceborne.

I'm a "one and done" type of gamer. I value a complete package that I pay for once for that has a defined end (i.e story) and lets me consume it at my own pace. (Incidentally this is also why I'm not big on rogue-like/lite games. Shame most of the card games seem to go that way, I really like card games :( ).

Today was to be the bad weather day, storms that lower the general temp. First thing I see in the morning is that it has somehow be delayed to tomorrow.

Valve really screwed up, a bunch of older TF2 crates (series 1-19, 82 and 85) all drop 100% unusual hats (hats with particle effects that have a 1% chance of dropping) since the update a few hours ago. I unboxed a ton of them myself, I'm sure it's going to horribly damage the economy of the game since unusuals have become super common.

Oh so i csn redeem the key then switch to back to my main region?
Steam doesn't look at your store region when you try to activate a key, only at your current IP address.

When I buy a RU key I usually install a VPN extension on Chrome, select Russia and redeem my key. Some publishers also set those keys to lock where you can play the game (as if you aren't using a VPN you can't play), Activision used to do this, for example. Here's a key that will lock you from playing the game outside Russia (for 90 days, that is). Notice the "onlyallowrunincountries" tag.

You're in for a treat! But before Death of the Outsider you should probably play Dishonored 2 as well :drinking-blob:
I know, bought it on cdkeys a while back. :steam_pig_grinning:Figured I'd double dip on Dishonored 1 as well, because it's been a while since I last played it (I sure as hell am not gonna plug in my PS3 just to replay it).

They adjusted some prices btw, still not great though. But I think they did a good job of keeping us updated leading up to the launch with the demo which got updates itself and constant news about the state of things. Compare that to say Vane....

The latter doesn't concern me, only the former. so all in all, I'm good to redeem it, just need assistance in buying it X3
