RDR2 is the weird one , i have strong love hate relationship with that one. Especially when people hail it as second cuming of Jeebus ... which is definitely not.
The game looks amazing, has great atmosphere and really enjoyable story , but it just annys me left and right way too much. Yes the animations looks amazing , but for fucks sake just give me the skip button. Also absolutely despise some of its dreadfully limiting mission design .... cases where they said "hide behind the rock" and after 10 minutes hiding behind the rock you start to search for which friggin rock triggers the right animation/script" were making me scream in frustration

Still great 8/10 game , but from i played i just cant go higher ... its great expereince most of the tim but every now and then its just put nail in your brain and keeps hitting it and hitting it and hitting it ..... aaaaaah i am never finishing this
When in doubt, always hide behind The Rock. That goes for all situations, not just gaming btw.

So I was looking for an old post in Troubleshooter news section, but I found this on their latest post:
We sincerely apologize to Asian server players for this problem.

Hello everyone, this is Troubleshooter development team.

First of all, I'm sorry for all those whom used Asia server yesterday.

We lost some game data while resolving DB issue. This is totally our fault. We tried to use every method to recover game data, but we only could get the data until 2020 July 5th, AM4.

20 hours of player data loss is critical mistake to the game that aims online service.

I'm sincerely sorry for ruined your valuable time.

We don't think that we can dare compensate the 20 hours that can't be back.

Wtf, are they storing the save location in a server, not locally? I think I've read before that the game was online only in EA, but at some point they made it playable offline too. But that save file storing online is dumb.

I mean the post as it is is not clear enough to reach this conclusion. They are talking about people that used the Asia server, not offline people.
But while I like how they say they can't truly compensate, they fucking have to try and not leave it at that.

texhnolyze iirc the game has offline mode so at least for that there is local save .... but iirc this is the deal with that Guijian game which is always-online only because of saves being save on a server
There's a compensation for the loss, but they keep saying "Asia server" which is weird since the game supports offline play. Is it for the multiplayer mode or something?

That's a good question, to which I would have an answer if I just launched it once since purchase :sweaty-blob:
Aaron D. can maybe shed more light on how the game handles the whole online/offline thing.

Gujian saves progress online? Why? Isn't it a single player offline game?
There's apparently a Gujian MMORPG where you can get some extras from your Gujian 3 save. (Irrelevant for the west though).

speaking of always online games:
[UWSL]Pagan Online is becoming single-player[/UWSL]
Multiplayer servers will be switched off on August 4, 2020.
Hello Pagans,

Since the launch of Pagan Online, Wargaming and Mad Head Games have been working to ensure the best possible gaming experience. Unfortunately, over the last year, it has become clear that supporting Pagan Online as a multiplayer game is no longer sustainable.

To ensure the continuity of our game, we will be converting Pagan Online from multiplayer to single player. This will happen on August 4, when the multiplayer servers will be switched off.

To all our players who joined this adventure with us, your feedback and insights have been invaluable on this journey and we could not be more thankful for the heart and passion you put into helping us deliver the Pagan Online experience. Thank you, and we hope you continue playing the game in solo mode.

Moving forward, we want to make sure that the Pagan Online community is cared for, and that the game remains available for players to enjoy. To ensure this, we have come to an agreement with Mad Head Games to maintain Pagan Online as a single-player experience hosted on Steam. Mad Head Games will also be taking over daily operations for Pagan Online and be your contact for technical support for the foreseeable future.

On August 4, 2020, a Steam update will make Pagan Online into a single-player game.

As a thank you for playing Pagan Online, Wargaming would like to offer you a set of gifts: 7 days of Premium Account and one vehicle from each of our major games will be added to your Wargaming.net accounts shortly after the August 4 patch. If you bought a copy of Pagan Online via Wargaming.net Game Center, you will receive a Steam key inviting you to the new version by email on August 4.

At the time of this announcement, Pagan Online is no longer available for purchase on Wargaming.net. Steam purchases are also turned off until the single-player patch goes live.

Thank you for being with us,

The Pagan Online team

Gujian is online only. It's their DRM solution which is pretty much uncrackable.
Its pure unadulterated terrible punishing bullshit.
If the servers are a bit busy, it has trouble loading or saving your game which is a BIG problem because it likes to do this every minute or so and prevents you from playing while its having issues. Like looking at a blank screen while it saves your game....or tries to save your game?
I put the game down months ago because of this, it really gets in the way of actually playing the game.

It just punishes actual game owners because of a dev/pub answer to piracy. The way it turned out is that I'll never buy another one of their games, not even without online saves. So, maths direct out my ass are money saved, multiplied by money cost, divided by negative opinion? Profit?

Just saw this meme earlier, and holy shit.

Also, why would anyone waste 280GB of space for ARK, of all games? Isn't it still a buggy mess?
I'm lucky that only game I play with notably large size is XCOM2, and that's because of silly double-dipping by WOTC.

Really? Everything is seamless for me. Yeah, the game will autosave your game every now and then, but it doesn't stop you from playing. It's just a notification at the bottom corner.

I think from my reading up on it a few months ago that there is a difference in what server you are on, American or Asian. And same as you, it was seamless for me, right up until they started having issues. Then it became a shitshow for a few hours, then fine again, then a shitshow. Rinse, repeat.

I see. So if there's a server issue the autosave will screw our time in the game. I guess that sucks, yeah.

I believe the online hooks are mainly social stuff like in the recent Persona titles where when you're faced with a choice you get to see what other players picked by percentage averages. You can also chat with other players on the server and trade items as well. The latter part is why I think the online/offline mode separation is critical.

Anyway, you can take an online save and convert it to offline at any time. I don't think you can take that save back online though, likely for instances like item duping. But it is an option. And obviously you can also start a game in offline mode with local & Steam cloud saves, so it shouldn't be an issue if you're not interested in the social hooks.

Which games are you all waiting to be completed and released from Early Access?

I'm still waiting patiently for Secrets of Grindea, bought it in 2015 and I finished all the story it had released back in the day so I decided to wait until the full release.

I'm waiting for more updates before sinking more hours in Risk of Rain 2. Can't wait to see what the devs have in store.[UWSL]:grinning-face:[/UWSL] [UWSL]:grinning-face:[/UWSL] [UWSL]:grinning-face:[/UWSL]

Patiently waiting for Parkasaurus. I'm not interested in Jurassic World Evolution, but it's the opposite when it comes to Parkasaurus.[UWSL]:coffee-blob:[/UWSL] [UWSL]:coffee-blob:[/UWSL]

Yeah, i'm still saving my points, "just in case". I want to see more profile stuff in the future especially in the animated backgrounds department.

Waiting for it to finish too. Incredibly polished but it's been a while now :).

I'm also waiting for the RoR2 full release before sinking more hours into it, the 1.0 release is the next one according to their roadmap! Parkasaurus has been on my wishlist but I haven't followed it closely.

Torchlight 3, Last Epoch and Hades, as I need to fill the void left by Grim Dawn:

But in the case of Hades I'm also waiting for it to be heavily discounted / in a bundle.

I'm also following Zen Universe, as I love to explore places in VR:
I thought Hades had already left Early Access guess I was wrong and got confused between the end of the egs exclusivity and the lefting EA, Anyway Super Giant makes solid games.

I heard there were various issues with Torchlight 3 release I hope they manage fix it.

So, I have been checking the numbers of a few random games from LittleDinamit 's Insight and, well, here you have the data.

Satisfactory: 451 k

Titanfall 2: 568 k

Persona 4 Golden: 704 k

Alyx: 783 k

Sea of Thieves: 452 k (keep in mind that it has MTX so it could very well be part of the reason why is always topping the charts)

Doom Eternal: 1,1 M

RDR2: 986 k

Satisfactory sure is going up real quick, last week it was like 390k in that dev's video, Persona and Titanfaall did AMAZING numbers and the rest, well, going slowly but surely up, can't wait to see numbers for DS and HZD :cat-heart-blob:

I haven't followed it closely, but they did manage to fix the servers not long after launching early access, but the game itself doesn't seem to have much content yet and I've read a few people commenting on some mechanic that are clearly there because the game was originally for mobile.

But we'll see. I liked the first 2 games. They're not as deep as a game like Grim Dawn, but they're great for just relaxing.

Wow, is this the data from that popularity score thing? How accurate is it with actual sales numbers?

That's the estimated number of owners, popularity is an internal metric so that doesn't reflect thing on Steam (I think?)

And so far the Insight numbers have been real close, I remember Durante made a comment about TOCS numbers and they were more or less correct, also we have been checking with other devs and official data and it matches pretty well, so it's safe to say that the service is worth checking from time to time. :cat-heart-blob:

What type of "roguelike" is Children of Morta?
Not really one.
Yes, levels are randomly generated, and you get Isaac-like buffs during a run, like stats upgrades or familiars, and you lose all of that if you die.
But you keep all the gold you gain, and that's what let you make your characters stronger permanently.

There's tons and tons of little cut scenes and side quests to accomplish while repeating the levels, and an overarching plot; the whole being permanent, it's pretty much a classic 2D ARPG with RNG levels that reset when you die.
It could hardly be more forgiving, and it is a very, very good RPG. All the characters are very different and fun to play, the story and visuals are cool and do their job.

Now if it was a bit more balanced it would be great, the game starts too hard and end up too easy.
That and maybe some more interesting post upgrades lines? They added a lot of stuff in updates, it helps make the playthrough more varied, but a lot of upgrades are just boring flat bonuses, unlike some interesting ones like new runes (which are temporary in a run, but make huge changes to your active skills).

Very cool looking indie JRPG.

They haven't made a bad metroidvania yet, and they've made a bunch so far.

Mainly because I got it in the Choice and because I like the artstyle, lol.

Loved the original Subnautica.

Junji Ito-inspired weird horror RPG? Sign me up.

Big monsters.

The artstyle is amazing.

Mechs!

Devil May Cry x Magical Girl

Not gonna lie though, I don't tend to be aware of Early Access stuff too much. The only ones that I think will almost definitely turn out to be very good are Subnautica and Lodoss War. Everything else is just "This looks cool" and may or may not be good in the end 😅
