Another conference without much gameplay, which I don't really care about cause I never gave a shit about hype and games that release five years later.

But it's interesting to see that both Xbox and Playstation are nowhere close to being ready for a next generation, and it will be yet again two years of absolutely nothing for them.
With Nintendo drowning in late work and poor releases of their franchises, I am really glad to play on PC.
At least I don't have to convince myself that waiting a million years for Halo, hype up a Spiderman DLC to justify a new $500 box, and I don't have to spend time in Animal Crossing of all things when there's fuck all to play for two years.

"Console exclusives" certainly aren't what they once were.

The Ps5 will be the first time I won't get a Playstation console on launch. I will just upgrade or build a new PC at some point (haven't decided when) and get the PS5 on sale sometime.

Drakengard is down. And so are my nerves. And that's with savestates.
Don't do this at home kids, it's really not worth it. Watch the fucking cinematics on youtube.

I can't say I hated my time with it, but it brings so very little added value to play the game over watching it. Don't be stupid like me.
I suppose the value added in the in-mission comments by the characters, it's cool, but it's light.

Now to decide if I play Papa Nier or wait for Incesto-Nier :thinking-blob:

Edit - I hope I have your approval, Hektor senpai !

As one who has no interest in picking up either consoles in near future, I view these two showcases from Sony and Microsoft being a "confirmation" of the existence of games for the two consoles, and in Xbox case, for PC as well. And I have absolutely no rush to get these games on my hand when we all know, well, backlog is a thing and there are just too many games out there and our lives are too short for most if not all of them.

Therefore, to me, gameplay or CG trailers do not matter. Just let me know the games I want being "developed" is enough. Cases like Everwild and Fable belong to them. If they are ready, they will be shown as ready.

However, it is important to emphasize that I am definitely the minority here. Many console players out there want to justify for their action for purchasing a shiny new toy this year. Tbh, Sony failed to provide a reason so far while Microsoft did a poor job selling its big launch game which also turns into a meme machine now.

But for real, as a gaming PC owner, I don't care. There are many good looking games coming: Kena (EGS though), Hitman 3, Deathloop, Tell Me Why, the Medium and Watch Dogs Legion come to mind. Gaming is fantastic now and the two shows give us a glimpse to the future. There are many more exciting games on the horizon as well as those hiding in the garden, waiting to be dug up and played.

Anyway, just listened to my irl friend's advice and got State of Decay 1. Can't wait to start playing it... well, let me finish these few games on hand first. :face-savouring-delicious-food:

Of Course you do.
Everybody who plays through Drakengard has.
I think actually playing it does bring value with ist tedium and frustration tho.
It's an anti-war game of sorts and making the killing unfun can have meaning in that context.

"They are so powerless, yet your sword spares none. Your heart is black!"

Replicant ver.1.22474487139… Looks to be a very faithful remaster/Remake in its design, but we haven't seen any gameplay yet. Regardless of that, it's supposed to have new Story Content, so you might just wanna wait for that version anyways, even if Papa Nier > Brother Nier

If you get impatient in the meantime, you could try playing Drakengard 3, that game is actually fun to play, even if nothing mindblowing mechanically.

PC is the real winner. 3rd party games, PC only games and timed exclusives that PC is excluded from.

It's really good how Steam and PC gaming in general has become this neutral platform that doesn't take part in the "console war" which has granted us exclusives from all the console companies.

Same, the reason I had a PS4 was for 3rd party games from SEGA, Bandai Namco, NISA and Marvelous now that those are all mostly multiplatform and on PC I have little reason for either a MS or Sony console.
I'm pretty sure that even that Fate/Extra game will at least be PSwhatever/Switch, although I hope they'll release on PC as well.
If it turned out to be PSwhatever only it could actually push me to get a Sony console I guess...

I haven't even bought a console this gen.
I leech my brother's PS4 for some games. Well, actually just The Last of Us 2 (which I haven't even finished yet :sweaty-blob:). I tried Bloodborne but I couldn't do it. The rest I don't care enough to go through the trouble.
The core games from Microsoft (Halo, Forza and Gears) don't interest me and everything else was also on PC, so no reason there.
And I don't really care anymore about Nintendo games, mostly because I don't want to invest in a system so behind the times in features.

But mostly because lately I find myself playing puzzle or adventure games, losing myself for hours taking screenshots in games or replaying older things.
I might have a problem :thinking-face:

Yeah, PC platform is becoming better and better with more publishers getting on board:cat-heart-blob:

I got my PS4 for Sakura Wars alone and sold it after finishing it lol. IMO, EXTRA's PC port is a lock when the last two EXTELLA games are on steam. Hopefully studio BB has enough staff to support multiplat development so the remake can come to PC sooner.

Some new info regarding Infinite. I really hope there is not a hub because I don't want any other players in my game.
Reason why games like Division or Destiny never appealed to me. I want to explore the world 100% on my own without buttsmasher69 entering my field of view.
If it's shared world in any capacity I'm OUT.

SEGA is da BEST!!

Can we fast forward to 2021?
That's a nice way to do a complete overhaul. Keep the old version intact but bring the graphical enhancements over and make characters and equipment compatible for both versions (but keep character progression and some currencies separate due to game system changes).
I'm still hoping for an eventual legit EU version (or even just a non Windows Store version, I don't even need it on Steam).

Given the supposedly very good translation tools, I wonder if I should play with US or JP client.

Since they announced this a while ago, I really hope we get a proper EU version soon.

Get ready, operatives. Phantasy Star Online 2's Episode 4, the first major content update release in North America, arrives August 2020. Play it on Xbox One and Windows 10, with more PC platforms coming soon. We are also working hard to introduce this legendary online action RPG to a global audience this year. We will have more information about the regions where the game will become available in the near future.

It's Dragon Quest and it's not even close. It's a blasphemy that Ryza is being compared to it.

Doesn’t look like STALKER 2 is on PC Game Pass?

Well I wouldn't play a game like Stalker that has a heavy mod community on a platform that locks the game files anyways.

Yeah, if Horizon sells well, I can see more PS exclusives being brought over. They will definetly start with PS4 games first, Dreams and Bloodborne are heavily rumored.

I check r/ps4 occasionally and I laugh every time people discuss how Sony wants to use games like Horizon to get people to buy a PS5 for Horizon 2.

Console gamers really don't understand the majority of PC gamers. Horizon and PS4 has been "super" cheap for a long time. If a PC gamer is not willing to buy a PS4 on a cheap sale + Horizon for 10$, then expecting PC gamers to go out and buy a PS5 for 500$ and Horizon 2 for 60$ because they liked Zero Dawn is a pipe dream.

Get Ryza, dragon quest games are boring AF :p
This is my fear. DQ are the top of classical JRPG, but damn classical they are. Ryza might have a little more pop.
At the same time, if Ryza is comparable to the other episodes, it suffers from the same illness that struck Persona games, as in, if you have several event scene queued, you enter Visual Novel mode.

I won't lie, that can easily happen. But the scenes, in general, really aren't particularly long.

I'm thinking about selling my Thrustmaster T300RS wheel. My gaming pc is in our living room and the wheel makes lots of noise when turning fast, which strongly annoys my wife, daughter and cat.

This means I will stop playing Dirt Rally 2 because it sucks without a decent wheel imo. So I'm looking for other racing games that are enjoyable with controller. Any suggestions?

The amount of people giving Microsoft shit because many games are cross gen is utterly confusing to me.
I never understood some of the console mentality out there and I never will.

Wonder if this discrepancy in reception is one of the reasons why EGS has so much support on paper.

Forza Horizon games are enjoyable with a controller. That said, I don't think going from a wheel to a controller will ever feel awesome.
Could Steam In Home Streaming be a solution for you?

I find most games enjoyable with a controller so ymmv, but a recent favorite of mine is BallisticNG. If you liked the challenge of DR, this might be up your alley. Burnout Paradise, NFS Most Wanted and NFS Hot Pursuit are also all good fun. The Trackmania games are excellent too.

Yes, I have a Steam Link to play pc games on TV. I don't have a desk upstairs tho, and our kitchen table is glass so it's not a good idea to mount a steering wheel there. 😉

DQXI was the most boring generic tedious tripe I've played in years. If there was a RPG trope I didn't have to play through then I'd be surprised. Game was nice to look at is the kindest thing I can say about it.

Edit: I think it even had multiple inventories to put things in and constantly waste my time when looking for stuff. Devs: Please for the LOVE OF GOD don't do that.

I do understand the frustration over the lack of 'wow' factor for the new consoles. $500 isn't a small investment for many, MANY people and the current launch line ups are nearly all cross gen.

But what do you expect?? 2013 was no different. Hell, it wasn't until 2015 that we started to see a trickle of true 'next gen' games and its took FOUR years until the gen came fully into its own in 2017.

Launch consoles are a waste.

Anyway, on to gaming. Still hitting a solid wall in Enter the Gungeon , I can get to the 3rd level boss about 25% of the time but I've never gotten past whichever boss I face there. 1 out of 4 as far as a 'good run' ratio when I haven't fully mastered the controls of a rogue like is not awful. I do worry that I might be hitting a permanent wall, like I did in Rogue Legacy and Immortal Redneck.

Played an hour and change of Lifeless Planet and about 20 minutes of The Outer Worlds. I'm starting to warm up to the outer worlds, slowly but surely. Visual design, quest design and even the characters I'm meeting are not as off putting the deeper I get.

I've been gaming for over 30 years, owned a lot of consoles, but not even once did I buy a console at launch.
You wait 1-2 years and you buy it cheaper and with a decent library of games available for it, not to mention firmware updates ironing out issues that always crop up early on.
Really good launch line-ups are very rare and there's always current gen stuff to catch up with.

Ugh, I was looking for Ryza and Origins benchmarks for a 2060 super but google is so full of shitty results.
I guess I won't know till I try. I would have liked to put them at 4k but I suppose 1080p would be safer for Origins. Ryza though, man that should run fine...
