As one who has no interest in picking up either consoles in near future, I view these two showcases from Sony and Microsoft being a "confirmation" of the existence of games for the two consoles, and in Xbox case, for PC as well. And I have absolutely no rush to get these games on my hand when we all know, well, backlog is a thing and there are just too many games out there and our lives are too short for most if not all of them.
Therefore, to me, gameplay or CG trailers do not matter. Just let me know the games I want being "developed" is enough. Cases like Everwild and Fable belong to them. If they are ready, they will be shown as ready.
However, it is important to emphasize that I am definitely the minority here. Many console players out there want to justify for their action for purchasing a shiny new toy this year. Tbh, Sony failed to provide a reason so far while Microsoft did a poor job selling its big launch game which also turns into a meme machine now.
But for real, as a gaming PC owner, I don't care. There are many good looking games coming: Kena (EGS though), Hitman 3, Deathloop, Tell Me Why, the Medium and Watch Dogs Legion come to mind. Gaming is fantastic now and the two shows give us a glimpse to the future. There are many more exciting games on the horizon as well as those hiding in the garden, waiting to be dug up and played.
Anyway, just listened to my irl friend's advice and got State of Decay 1. Can't wait to start playing it... well, let me finish these few games on hand first.
