I guess in gaming circles everyone just thinks of Sony and M$ like they're Nintendo, they're gaming companies. : /

Fuck at this point, I'm pretty sure that M$ wouldn't even call itself a computer company lol.

BTW: If anyone considers my typing of "M$" to be platform warring, please add a disapproval emoji to this post.

It must be because they have "Micro" in their name. Micro is basically super small, so people probably think they're this tiny garage company just scraping by.
An easy mistake to make.

Decided to try FlightSim via game pass before I buy it. Simply as I don't know how my PC will tackle it, if I have to compromise the settings too much for my liking I will wait on buying it until I build a new PC whenever that will happen and if I will don't like the game what so ever. I mean, it looks extremely cool, but I may end up not liking it due it it being too complicated for my tastes. Like, I like Elite Dangerous a lot, but Elite seems like child's play compared to FlightSim and Elite Dangerous already was quite difficulty to understand in the start and I still don't fully understand it..

From the work Dictator did on the preview version, High settings are the best bang for your bucks. The game also has a slew of settings ranging from aircraft dynamic damage to flight model complexity that I am pretty sure will allow you to just fly around and take it easy. Just start on the runway or even in the air and chain loopings to your heart's content.

I know the sim world has this image of insurmountable difficulty but you really, really don't need to even get remotely close to realism to enjoy flying. Also, they puff themselves up a great deal, it's not that hard. Just a lot of things to know that only people who love this should put the time into.

Basically I don't think you should be too worried :).

I have no idea why they would be uncomfortable and I read the whole article.
particular blocking potential competitors, taking a 30 percent revenue cut from developers and essentially operating as a monopoly for over a decade. All of these features also describe Steam.
They say this, "Valve is a monopoly and blocking potential competitors"

Yet they also say

Only recently has Steam’s revenue-sharing model come under public scrutiny, and only because a new, actual competitor finally entered the market. The Epic Games Store went live in December 2018, and it has billions of dollars at its back, thanks to cash from Fortnite, the Unreal Engine and investors including Tencent Games. It launched with a bold promise for developers: a revenue split of 88/12.

The Epic Games Store scooped up a handful of exclusives, keeping these titles off of Steam, sometimes forever and sometimes for a limited window. In classic monopoly fashion, Valve didn’t respond.
Didn't they just say Valve is blocking competition?
YET THE SECOND PARAGRAHPS SAYS COMPETITION ARISES AND VALVE ISNT RESPONDING TO IT

The 70/30 revenue split has been part of Steam’s business model from the beginning. Neither Google nor Apple referenced Steam when they opened their respective app stores in 2008
YEA NO SHIT
Apple started the 70/30 split with Itunes which launched before steam you wannabe blogger

That rate is still the standard on Steam (and Apple, and Google) today.
And almost all other platforms

With this strategy, it’s garnered a horde of diehard fans. This, even though Valve hasn’t released a new game in a majority of its highly regarded, ridiculously popular franchises in a decade
lmao at this random and entirely unrelated valve maek no gaem statement

This is literally just a glorified fucking era post

I have no great love for valve. But that article is out of wack. Like what the fluff does Apple getting rightfully grilled have to do with valve? Like why even bring them into this?

Also, what the heck is going on with that "Valve is Anti Consumer" video ????

As far as the PC gaming space being completely dependent on Valve.... Not seeing it with XBGP, EPGS, GOG, itch.io dominating my play time this year. True walled garden (Android and IOs) vs actual open platform.

Carrion has sald 200 000 between Switch, PC (Steam) and Xbox (also on game pass).

No platform split, only thing we have is that Playtracker estimated 112k and SteamSpy 100-200k.
LittleDinamit said steam sales are half of all gamepass players ... so that's probably pretty good ;)

It's Platform wars, plain and simple. They bash the mobile and PC Platform and conveniently forget that it is the same on Console.

If Halo infinite multiplayer is free its gonna be ridiculously popular at launch.

Xbox one + Lockhart + XsX + Gamepass + Gamepass PC + Steam.

Servers are gonna be dead at release lol.

Also 343 has to have some type of Battle Royale planned for the game. Especially if there is gonna be so much players. All the ingredients are there to make that mode now that you have a giant map. Do it ffs.

I want that cloud tech for Star Citizen. Hope Mr Parry is cooking something similar because this has raised the bar into outer space.

Edit : Holy crap at 0:53, Lukla. This looks amazingly close to what I've experienced. People say that the ground footage is amazing but this is my first experience with it, pausing and just recognizing everything about that tiny airport.

I mean, to give you an idea I was absolutely not thinking of it, nor expected it and it only took me a couple seconds to go "wait that's...!"

Edit 2 : I couldn't resist trying to get the best comparison I could from my own pictures :

Damn, MS has 4 games releasing on PC in august. FlightSim, Tell Me Why, Battletoads and Wasteland 3.
I hope it's just me but nothing ever shown of wasteland 3 has left me feeling the game will be any good. InXile's recent track record isn't exactly spotless either...
Let's see what we get.

Claiming a bunch of free DLCs on Steam annoys me to no end, I can't believe this terrible system is still in place
Yea i honestly don't get why they aren't just automatically added to eglieble accounts, as you can manually opt out of your DLC's there is no downside not to do that

I guess they will go the Warzone approach. Give away the thing everyone wants to play, make the nerds pay for the story.

BTW I was one of those nerds to pay for Modern Warfare and I'll pay for this, I don't say it disparagingly :p
