Another "holy crap it's July already!"

Thank you for the thread lashman !!

Kind of "quiet" month for me, but I still have to the end of the Steam sale to buy something I will not play.... or more probably something "old" to replay instead of playing a new game... :p

But it needs something a little more GPU/CPU heavy. I'm going through Saints Row 3 Remaster now and it's not making my PC do it's heater thing... and yes it's kind of cold for our standards right now (9C). Some of us live in the "bottom" of the globe :)

It can't be july yet. How is 2021 almost as lost as 2020 amd we're only just over half way through?
Well I guess I need to double down and buy something in the steam sale

Why sometimes I restart my computer Steam refuses to open or takes its sweet ass time to come up?

Great thread as always lashman appreciate all the work.

I can't believe we are already half way through the year (thought I would shake things up a little).

Anyway, looking at the monthly releases I will be keeping an eye on Ys 9 (really should play some of the earlier titles I suppose), Orcs Must Die 3 (loved the first 2 games) and Cris Tales (looks absolutely beautiful).

I would be tempted with Monster Hunter Stories 2, but knowing it is a sequel and seems to be continuing on from the first game (which I haven't played) puts me off.

One cannot skip the introduction scene in Bug Fables. That would be okay if the game did not get locked during the tutorial at a point where one has a choice between 2 actions (heal or boomerang attack).

I have chosen the boomerang attack twice, with the same result. 🙈 I think it is because there is no actual choice and we are supposed to heal the character before performing the boomerang attack.

Third attempt with the heal first: same result. 🙉

Next attempt (the fourth time watching the intro): skip the tutorial.
Edit: Same issue if I skip the tutorial and only perform basic attacks. :evilblob:

Windows Store with GamePass keeps on giving troubles! xCloud is the best solution to avoid dealing with the Windows Store!

To summarize my recent game discoveries with GamePass:

Games which I will likely try to finish:
  • Donut County
  • Katana Zero
  • A Plague Tale Innocence
  • Yakuza Like a Dragon
  • Nier Automata
  • Banjo Kazooie
Need to see more before judging:
  • Dragon Quest XI
  • Red Dead Online
  • Call of the Sea
Not for me:
  • Cyber Shadow
  • Doom Eternal
  • Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite (retired from GamePass)
  • Dungeon & Dragons Dark Alliance (not that bad, but repetitive and grindy)
  • Monster Hunter World (retired from GamePass)
Technical issues:
  • Bug Fables
  • Guacamelee 2 (an issue with my machine in 2019, finished with xCloud in 2021)
To be tried when they are available:
  • Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts (today on xCloud)
  • 12 Minutes (August)
  • Psychonauts 2 (August)
Other games to try:

Between this profusion of games and my Steam backlog (including recent purchases), I cannot justify purchasing anything for the next 3 months.

Whatever you do, play Supraland!!! DLC is only on Steam, though.

GamePass...

I am a long-time-player who rarely finishes games :>
I never play games that are under 5 to 10 hours
My bread and butter are games Like Rimworld, Civilization, Battletech(modded), X3APLU, Mount & Blade, Aurora 4X, Stellaris, EUIV, HOI4, CK3, Minecraft modded, long RPG's, etc. I play them for decades.

I may start a game for a few hours and finish it a few months or years later, at that time it probably isn't on Gamepass anymore. And something like CK3 I could never play on Gamepass because I know that I will play that game for years.

Donut County is a fun game. It was too expensive though on launch, if i remember rightly it is only about 4 hours long and that was maybe an hour longer than it should be. Story was fun and light hearted though and the Katamari style gameplay was fun. Like Carrion though it is a perfect Game Pass game.

xCloud solved my issue with Bug Fables' soft-lock. :)

Well, I think I might have finished buying all the summer sale stuff, still doubting about a few games, tho.

So far I bought:
-Bug Fables
-Trials of Mana
-Secret of Mana
-FF 1-6 pack
-Alba: A wildlife Adventure

I'm considering buying:
-Resident Evil 3 remake (I will complete collection with this one)
-Scarlet Nexus
-Greedfall
-Star Renegades
-Crosscode
