Steam Deck arrives tomorrow

It's almost time,by the way what are some of the helpful tips for starting out.
Got mine a couple of weeks ago and haven't touched my main PC since. Its great.

If you are interested in emulation emudeck was very easy and complete for me to install and get some old snes etc games running.

There are a bunch of shortcuts by using the Steam button plus another which i find useful.

I’m still waiting for Root Film Steam port. : (
Root letter was quite good.
I was pretty disappointed by Root Film, I'm sorry to say. It has such a promising start, but they couldn't stick the landing.

Still worth playing I guess (if you liked Root Letter), but I wouldn't recommend buying that at full price..

Yeah Spidey is way too pricey for me, will probably get it at 20€ or so.

I use Bitwarden. Its open source. They got TOTP support if you upgrade to premium (10 dollar\yr)
Microsoft authenticator is a decent alternative if you trust big corp.
Oh huh. I've been thinking about finally giving bitwarden some money, didn't even know they have this feature in the premium. Neat!

Not want to jinx it but my month long journey to get Steam Guard working might be over soon.
Steam's sms partner sent me a bunch of test messages from different numbers. had to report them back to steam support.
Assuming it goes well, what worked in the end? I mean in terms of actually getting someone to really look into it after a month of zero real progress, what changed?

I'm really happy with mine. It does a pretty good job of cooling my 12900K even though it's 240mm and apparently 360mm is recommended for that CPU. It's my first AIO though so I can't really compare it to other models.
Do I have to install fans on each side of the radiator?

HEY EVERYONE!!!

oh my, would you look at the time ...

Friday bounce around coming up in 10 minutes! Going to be starting with some Into the Breach to check out the new content if possible. I haven't played the game in a little over four years so this should be.. interesting, to say the least. Afterwards we'll probably check out some other new-ish releases or stuff that's gotten new content recently.

Dark Alliance 2 is finally here, been wanting to replay it for over a decade. :dizzy-face:
It's still a pretty basic port, but at least it runs correctly with some crusty 2D backgrounds, unlike its emulated counterpart.

And yeah, it definitely is Dark Alliance... but so much better than the first... :coffee-blob:

This bothers me.. the first game cost more and does not have achievements. why be like that.

Kinda tempted to get a DualSense controller for those adaptive triggers and haptic feedback but it's like 90$ CAD. Holy fuck...
Not sure it's worth it just for that on PC. There's like 5 games that actually support those, and those require you to use the controller with a USB cable.
I just like the form factor, I love symmetric sticks, and it has a somewhat bigger battery, so with the LEDs turned off, it actually lasts quite a bit longer than the DS4 did.

Ubisoft is supposedly working on an unique spinoff of "The Division:"

Interestingly, it seems like fans of the franchise are in for another surprise soon. On the most recent episode of Jeff Grubb’s Game mess, the industry insider reported on a potential The Division battle royaletitle.

The webhost I'm with are trying to rip me off. I've been hosting a small forum for the remnants of my MGS site for a few years and the other day I got a rather surprising email about a "last warning" from them. They are saying my site will go offline on the 29th unless I transfer my domain to them as registrar or follow some (likely intentionally) extremely vague instructions to point my domain to them, instead of using the usual (and very simple) nameservers process that 99.9% of hosting providers (including this one, up until now) use.

Their domain registry is nearly twice as expensive as my provider, which is an immediate red flag. Plus they've more than doubled the cost of my hosting package from November 2021 to November 2022. Trustpilot has exploded with users giving them 1* reviews and searching their name on Twitter gets you a whole bunch of people griping about the same thing (with other providers jumping into the topic to poach customers!).

Needless to say, I told them where to stick their price increase and their domain name registry transfer.

So instead of having a relaxing weekend, I am now moving a website to a new provider.

Happy Friday!

I wish people wouldn't buy Spidey @ $59.99. It allows Sony to keep up the predatory pricing for their older games on Steam.
I'm not buying anything full price anymore. For whatever reason, the older i get the more i value my money. And the more I value my money the more I start to unironically believe in that "never spend more than $20* on a PC game" meme.

*adjusted for inflation of course.

Yeah, I've heard enough good things about those features that I would've been tempted if it had been like half the price but at almost 100 bucks then hell no.

Shame, though, as I would've liked to have both options as far as controllers go. It's a minor nitpick but it was kind of annoying playing FFVIIR with an xbox controller cause Square-Enix couldn't be bothered to update the in-game button icons. You'd get a prompt for Y but the actual in-game graphic still showed a triangle lol. I'm not one to go for "lazy dev" rhetoric as I understand full well how stupid that is but in this particular instance, it's just so fucking lazy lol. I mean, I get that it's more than just an icon swap here but still, it's like, what, 2 or 3 assets for the entire game?

What living in Texas does to a person...
I want to buy Live A Live but I'm fucking sure Squeenix gonna announce it on PC as soon as I do.

I'm not seeing the problem. I mean, one of us has to take the plunge...

Also, got around to watching that Last of Us Part 1 video they just released. People are complaining but tbh this is the ideal scenario for me. All I wanted was a port of the original so this kind of visuals-only remake is perfect for me. I haven't touched the game since the initial PS3 release so I'm excited to revisit it and honestly wouldn't mind paying close to full price for it if it comes to PC within 6 months of its console launch.

New deckbuilding Humble Bundle. Despite listing the Steam review score the Gwent key is for GOG.
That silliness aside, it's a fantastic bundle. I want Library but I actually already own everything else (well, besides Gwent, which I don't play)
