Is it really gonna make me click the "boost" button 170 times to redeem my points 1k at a time? 😴

=======

Oh hey, (Not)Advance Wars is getting an expansion? ... Or looks like a sequel rather? Mhm.

I remember making the Tiny Metal OT on Era, and it didn't even get passed page-1 lol. :face-with-cold-sweat:

I liked the game well enough I guess. 6/10 if I remember right. A decent sale game if you like Advance Wars style games...

Yeah, though you can also skip that and just get them auto-converted to tokens on the 7th.

But hey, you get $55 in coupons so don't complain :p

Once this is released they can gear up to finish Project phoenix rite...
Have they mentioned it even once since Tiny Metal came and went? lol. I probably wouldn't get your hopes up...

They are, I had ~100k.
Right. So it really is just a matter of what you spent between whatever date they picked and now. So I must have miscounted. Instead of $1300ish I must have spent around $1700ish on Steam since.

That's pretty wild. Not particularly impressive or awe worthy. It just means I'm fucking stupid with my money.

Is it a bug?

Drawings will be held within 48 hours from the end of each period.

The screenshot must be fake, because that is what I see. People wishlist 60€ games, not Recettear and such.

Personally, I chose upcoming expensive games.
Vampire and Doom are available on the store with different pre-order options, that is why they appear without a price on the wishlist.

It's a mobile rhythm game inspired by endless runners.
You can think of it as two-button Guitar Hero, with high and low notes. There are single notes, double notes, held notes, and mashing, in various combinations.
The base game comes with 40 tracks that you unlock by playing the game and there's a 78 track "seasons-pass" DLC that comes with all current and future DLC tracks (6 new per month), for a total of 118 tracks.

The endless runner inspiration comes in several forms:
Firstly, you actually have an avatar in the game, that you use to hit (literally attack) notes and to collect health and score pickups. Moving your avatar is done simply by hitting the high or low note buttons (the only two buttons you use outside of menus). The game also features obstacles that have to be avoided by moving to the opposite row (i.e. by jumping to the top row and later by returning to the bottom row during a jump) and pickups that are collected in the same fashion. Colliding with a note (enemy) or obstacle causes you to lose HP.

You level up by beating levels and completing various global and per-level achievements, which unlock songs and loading-screen art, as well as skins and pets that give various bonuses. The skins and pets either make the game easier in some form (more health, less damage taken, "upgrade" some small number of misses to hits, etc.) or give you ways to increase your score. You can entirely ignore these if you want and just use the starting skin (it simply gives more HP).

Settings are pretty basic, but it does feature a fullscreen, borderless and windows mode, along with optional FPS limits (60, 120, 240, no limit). Controller mapping only consists of presets (I got around that by using Steam controller mapping), but you can re-map keyboard keys.

The base game is very cheap for what you get and I've personally been enjoying the hell out of it, so I'd gladly recommend getting it if this sounds at all appealing.
This was an excellent write-up, thank you! Definitely going to give it a try based on that!

I wish there'd be way to earn more tokens beyond your limit outside of purchasing things.

I can understand that they wouldn't wanna give tokens away too generously with the discount they "sell", but a way to earn some more would have been nice.

Have they mentioned it even once since Tiny Metal came and went? lol. I probably wouldn't get your hopes up..
They did do their yearly "totes committed to making the game" post on Kickstarter.

I’ve now tried all three auto-chess games and I’m fairly sure Valve’s is actually the worst. That’s not to say that it’s actually bad, there’s just a few things I like better about the other two right now. They’ve got some catching up to do.

Three kingdoms, very good choice.
did you get new tokens for this purchase or only if real money is spent?
I got 970 tokens, so yes, they only give tokens for the real money you spend. Otherwise they would have given me ~6400ish.

Edit: I think I have just enough leftover in my Steam wallet for the bloody DLC that launches today for TW: Three Kingdoms! \o/

Posting here for more visibility

Suggestions for a AAA/big name game.
Regional pricing is a b*tch in India so some games are exorbitantly expensive, so help me decide. My budget is Rs. 4000. I have few games locked in like Rocket league, FF8, AOE 2 DLC, AOE 3, Guild Wars trilogy and Slap City (plus some small DLC).
This leaves me with effectively with Rs. 3000 (less actually).

Help me decide :
  • Devil May Cry 5 Deluxe : Rs. 2910
  • Resi 7 Gold : Rs. 1274
  • Monster Hunter World : Rs. 1274
  • Evil Within 2 : Rs. 840
  • Final Fantasy XV Complete: Rs. 1728
  • SoulCalibur 6 : Rs. 1257
  • Any other big budget game/demanding single player game that you can think of

They let me stack all 11. Thank you Gaben. 🙏
HOW DID YOU GET THOSE MANY?!

On a side note and since it's on sale (fuck you SE for Dragon Quest), I'm still torn about a potential FF7 replay. I completed it in French so many years ago and it didn't make a lick of sense. As the US translation is not really well regarded either I thought about using one of the retranslation patches. The Remako mod looked like a good candidate for that replay.
But correct me if I'm wrong but you can't had scanlines to it, can you ? I know that it's weird to pretty up the background only to add scanlines to them but at the end of the day I think I prefer a more faithful version than a prettied up one, if I have to choose. I just want to understand the batshit plot.

No suggestions ? Some Meta member already mentioned the Switch version but I don't have a Switch anymore and that doesn't really fit the bill anyway.

I detailed it post-by-post up above as it happened lol, but to summarize...

Apparently your "Capacity" (the red number) is determined by how much you've spent between the Lunar Sale and now. My starting "Capacity" was 170.5k. This is because I spent roughly $1700 on Steam between now and then, and it would appear that every $100 you've spent equals 10K "Capacity."

So once you get your starting capacity it then becomes a matter of filling up your points or "boost" (the white number) to meet that "Capacity" (Red Number.) For me all I had to do was idle about 15-20 games I had perfected (gotten all achievements) and within 2 hours I was able to claim 170k "boost."

Then you use the "boost" in the races, which is converted 1:1 to tokens. The discount costs 15k tokens each, and I had enough points to redeem 11.

... That's all. It's really just a reflection of how much you've spent since whatever date Valve picked. (Seems to be around Lunar sale start or end, I dunno.)

It is always nice to get a gift.

Imagine being that person though. You win the lottery (0.06% chance) and rather than the most expensive wishlisted game, you receive a $4 game.

After 5 years, the PC port of Bit.Trip Flux is still bad. Mouse controls feel terrible, the paddle moves weirdly, as if it had some terrible acceleration. This made my attempts to use gyro movement with the Steam Controller frustrsting as fuck. I'm bad at the game, but not that bad. For the record, Beat feels much better to play than this.

What a shame. Flux is my favorite in the series, but it's kinda broken on PC.

As for the sale, I'll have to think well about what to buy with my discount coupons. Since I live in a shitty country, I only get $1.30 per coupon, which is unfair since games here tend to cost more than 26% of the US price. It's particularly infuriating when it comes to publishers who don't care about regional pricing in most of their titles (Ubisoft, or more recently GOG with Cyberpunk), or are actively screwing us up (Konami with their $100 PES2020 and $60 Castlevania collection).

So if you claim more points than you have capacity... do you just lose those points? Or do you have to play them for 30 more minutes for it to come back?

Surge 2 is looking really good, the team has uploaded a new video showing a bit more variety of what the game offers and, damn, it looks like a really improvement compared to the first one (not talking about the expansions)

I was around 25-28k capacity, used up all my boot and got 17k tokens. What should I do to increase capacity again?

According to the Grand Prix FAQ:

"and for each day that you participate, you'll also upgrade your capacity by 100 points. Additionally, for every $1 you spend on Steam, you will upgrade the capacity of your Boost Meter by 100 points."

So it seems the only way to significantly boost your "Capacity" is to buy more stuff on Steam. ... A lot more stuff. Every $150 would equal 15k "Capacity."

You get 100 a day (basically nothing). Other than that, it's only buying stuff.
150$ per 5$ discount (or equivalent regional currency). So yeah.
