What are we expecting today with Koch Media ? More infos on Prime Matter, and ?

Oh, and did I hallucinate or did they tease a new Gungrave yesterday ? What, why, how ?
They have at least 12 games to show. That's a lot for one single publisher. and I am excited to see Gungrave as well.

Didn't Embracer just move a bunch of properties under that umbrella? I'm sure we'll see some surprises, both good and groan-inducing.
yes they recently did IP switcheroo between Koch and THQ Nordic subsidiaries

As for Prime Matter , from my understanding this new label is just for Koch Media stuff (from within Embracer) and they will use Prime Matter for their 3rd party publsishing deals and "legacy ports"
and for the 1st parties from their own devs and IPs (like Saints Row, Dead Island, Kingdom Come, .... ) they will still use the Deep Silver label

At this point the only things I'm interested in are:
Naraka Bladepoint, which I enjoyed immensely with friends during the test.
Disciples Liberation
King's Bounty II
Starfield
P5R port (hopefully)

The rest is whatever, though I might've missed something.

Yo, anybody received a mail from Humble about getting the CIV6 New Frontier Pass for 10$?
If I follow through from the mail I land on the Humble store page, but it's priced 32.99£.

Wonder if it's some kind of Humble Choice hiccup?
I'm on pause this month; maybe that discount is for active subscribers only and somehow the mail "leaked" to inactive users as well?
As an update, I added it to my cart and the discount applied, well to UK equivalent anyway.

Hell yeah, E3 time.

Unrelated to steam but my Windows updated and now I have this low res thing on my task mar

No one on MS saw how bad it looked?
You mean the bad text scaling? That's fixed as of the insider build I'm on.

You can right-click the taskbar and go to the "News and Interests" section if you don't want it. Or do a normal click to bring up MSN's awful news hub where you cannot escape the american football, no matter how much you try.

Genshin Impact questions.

1. Can i play it solo?

2. Can i play it without paying anything?
1. Yes. Occasionally there are multi-player events, but besides that 100% of the game can be played alone.

2. Yeah. A good deal of stuff in the game isn't really worth buying IMHO, the only thing I'd say being fair and worth it being the Battle Pass, which can speed up progression a good deal.

Can it not be disabled outright? Seems like bloat for little payoff

Good to know. I don't mind it showing me the weather but the bad scaling is the worst part, at least I can disable it until the next update.

Genshin Impact questions.

1. Can i play it solo?

2. Can i play it without paying anything?
1. Yeah, the "adventure" is solo play only, which kinda sucks in a way because you can't join a friend to do story missions.
Repeatable content like dungeons and bosses can be done multiplayer, it tends to be faster, not always easier though. A few of the minigames added were multiplayer only, if you really don't want to play with others, you'd miss on some (cash shop money) rewards for those.

2. You can complete the entire game, and there's many hours of game play (just today they added an archipelago for the summer event with hours of exploration - but it seems it's temporary for some reason? You have 40 days to do it if you want to start), even more so with the third region coming next patch; for free.
At no point will the game asks any money, and you certainly won't feel like you need the latest 5* character (the game is too easy in general - but it also means that power level is not too different between chars, though a support char is not a DPS, so it's not just about kicking things down but about making a coherent team). And you'll be able to get the 5*s you want as long as you just play the game and do dailies.

The larger issue is that you'll be limited by your adventure level (it's an "account lvl") to progress through the entire story, which requires you to open chests, do quests, dungeons, bosses, etc.
If you play casually, just doing things here and there and your dailies fairly often, you won't feel it. But if you just want to blast through the game, you might get limited by their stamina system to get enough adventure points later on - it slows down quite a bit at rank 30+. You could spend cash shop money to speed it a bit, but that's mega whale territory.
Just consider that you may need to play a bit every day and not large chunks at a time in the very late game.

i saw the reddit leaker post here earlier, and i want to clarify some stuff

it's just a guess list, nothing more and nothing less, he's avoiding the company suits and wanted to play it safe, he's managing it very well but still wants to be on the safe side

sooo don't take mario + rabbids sparks of hope for granted, don't take most of it for granted, and dont be mad at him if his list turns out to be wrong pls

🔥Hot take alert🔥: Guilty Gear Strive is pretty good!

I can't say I'm fond of the gatling system. I just keep going for XX-style chains and nothing happens. Feels bad. UI's trash too, and the lobbies will forever be garbage. Outside of that though, I'm having a great time. Looks wonderful (Pro-tip: set Effect Quality to Best to get crisp character models), the soundtrack is a banger, the netcode seems impeccable, and despite messing up all my inputs, it still feels good to move around. Jump arcs are way better than they were in open beta 2.

Also, purple Eddie looks too cool. I love him.

If anyone would be up for some matches, shoot me a friend invite.

Not sure how playable it will be playing from Brazil but if there's a netcode that can make that work its this one:wd_praise:

I know many people here are big fans of Contradiction but has anyone played At Dead of Night?

It does not seem to have gotten much notice when it was released (not too shocking the indie scene is so much more competitive now than when Contradiction came out) but it seems to have broadly positive reviews on Steam.
But watching a couple of YT reviews they seem to be much more muted on it.
Anyone here played it?

Has there been any information on what the director's cut of Death Stranding will entail? Should I push through my current playthrough or wait it out?

Yes it was the first Thief game I played. I tried the others laters but didnt warm up to them.
Even with mods, they have aged, I acknowledge that. When you played Thi4f, they would have been about 15 years old, at least. Hard to overlook without the benefit of nostalgia...

I think the biggest crutch Thief 4 has is its name. Ive said this before, as well. It has problems, sure, but it wouldve fared better had it been its own IP, because the comparisons would not have been there. People had a clear image of what a Thief game was supposed to be and Thief 4 was just different..
Agreed.

I'm with you on the art direction, it was too drab.. and it didnt have enough locale variation, either. Also, at launch it had some glaring sound issues, not sure if they managed to fix it. But despite all its flaws, I enjoyed my time with it greatly :) (and according to Steam, I played it for 65 hours)
There were patches fixing sound issues at some point. Apart from sound being harder to locate than in T1&2 (another unwelcome comparison), I don't recall having been particularly affected. I recently talked about the game with a friend who is trying to get into it (and failing; another T1&2 fan) and that didn't come up in his list of issues. If you're thinking about playing again, I'd tentatively say that the sound issues are probably fixed.

Glad you enjoyed it at least. Sad thing for me is that I can scarcely think of any other games that even attempt to scratch the "pure stealth" itch properly:

Thief 1 (1998), 2 (2000), 3 (2004)
The early Splinter Cells (up to Chaos Theory, 2005); but fairly or even very linear
... that's it.... ?

16 years is a long time for an itch to remain unscratched.

Maybe Dishonored (2012) qualifies, at least according to some people. With so many cool abilities to dispatch foes, stealth seemed secondary to me. Oh, and there are "alert indicators"; I can't stand screen clutter, and if you need magical icons to balance stealth, I take it that the game is not designed around it -- at least not the way Thief was.

Playing through Squadrons now, and while I'm liking it... I still can't help to think:
  • F**k EA for doing anything with Wing Commander (besides from using the name Origin just to rub it in)
  • F**k Chris Roberts for giving me hope of a spiritual successor.... 9 years ago.

And that's my (first) cranky old man moment of the day :p
(and I know it could always be worse and EA makes a mobile game and all... but still... )

I watched a Let's Play of this and the tech they're using looks absolutely stunning.

The graphics are real-world filmed and you zip from one location node to the next (think MYST), but the transitions are seamless.

Really interesting title.

No info yet. Possibly at E3. I'd say it's best to wait. I know I'm waiting, again. :blobmorning2:
Will depend on if there is a Sony exclusivity period or not. I can see us waiting several weeks for more info, given their E3 absence.
And I'm still quite annoyed by that news. It's on me for not playing it sooner, alright, but the game is not that old on PC.

On the one hand I don't replay games, and it's reputed long and bloated as fuck, so might as well wait. And the extra content could be good.
On the other hand, we may or may not have to wait 6 months to one year to please Sony and I would have to double dip on a game I already bought and never played. I mean, a good Steam Thread member is a hoarder, but there comes a point when it becomes a tad ridiculous.

What's the verdict between P4: Golden vs. P5?

I picked up P4:G Steam at launch but only played like 10% of it. Enjoyed my time but just got distracted or something as I'm wont to do.

P5 sure looks sexier (tech-wise) but am I okay just sticking with P4 (and never playing it, lol) or is there a compelling reason to jump on P5 if it lands on PC?

How was the gatling system in XX?
I've played Xrd a long time ago, after playing some dragon ball z and other stuff like SFV I try to perform a "classic" " L -> M -> H" (in this case P -> K -> S) and nothing connects xD

True.

I'd likely have more of a fire under my butt if the verdict was that P5 is like waaaay better than P4 or something, but I just don't know enough about the franchise.

Would likely be Steam or bust either way though.

Gatling system in XX was basically the same as Xrd. General order was P->K->S->H, but there was a lot of extra flexibility and lots of character specific stuff.

Strive's is so weird. At least with Zato, it seems like c.S, f.S, and 2S can all gatling into both 5H and 2H, but P and K are super limited. 5P can gatling into 6P, but it's not a real string. 2K can gatling into 2D. And as far as I know, those are the only gatlings available for P and K.

Past couple of days ive been playing a really difficult game called 'lets make an excel spreadsheet for the Euros work sweepstake'.

Man excel can do a lot of stuff, ive only ever used basic formulas before. Its crazy how deep you can go in setting up cells.

I know i could've just downloaded one but i like to do things like this, it is sort of a game, and im pretty pleased with it. Got it auto filling all the group tables, whos team is what, scores, goal difference etc. Very satisfying.

What'd i miss? something about Dark Souls 4?

Different things I prefer in both of them

I like the overall atmosphere and story of P4 more (I'm a sucker for murder mysteries).

I enjoy the combat of P5 more with the all the additions.

One thing I absolutely loathe in P5 is the constant interruptions in dungeons. Anytime you encounter a new puzzle, it's like your group has to have a one minute discussion that treats the player like a moron. I know people prefer the dungeons in P5 over P4, but I'd rather take the P4 dungeons because I don't find them to be a slog even if they are pretty much straight lines and simple.
