Sigh, finally Nier Route E. Was so boring to go through C and D. Basically same shit over again.
I really don't have a high opinion of Nier. People tell you it has a fantastic plot, but the more interesting part of it isn't in the fucking game.
And as a noob to the series I would say that Papa Nier must have worked better for the game. At least in the old version there was no creepax stepsiblingcaught vibes.

And everyone called Square Enix a stupid company for taking the EGS bribe. The Steam community continues to prove that taking EGS money is the objectively correct decision.
I still think they're stupid. This is unfortunately better than it deserves, but I take solace in the belief that it's way worse than what it could have been in a parallel universe where Square actually gave a shit.

Chivalry 2 and FF7 remake are doing decent enough. But the thing is, imagine how much more they would've sold if they were Day 1 on Steam. There's a lot of hype that comes with that. I have no doubt the sales would be much higher than what they are now.

By releasing this late on Steam, a lot of people are just waiting for a deep discount.

If you think FF7R and Chivalry 2 are doing badly, you are wrong.
If you think FF7R and Chivalry are doing worse due EGS, you are likely wrong.
If you think FF7R and Chivalry could have done better, you are likely right.

EGS isn't the reason of everything, it's only part of these results.

SE doesn't care about CCU, we do because it's an indicator of sales usually or at least they're a datapoint, but they aren't everything you can have a game that sells 1m and has 10 ccu.
Atm the game IS selling which is what matters to SE, it could have surely done better but it isn't doing bad

Yep, most people that cared having had like 2 years to play it on PlayStation certainly played a bigger part than 6 months of EGS exclusivity. This was never going to do Elden Ring numbers lol.

Square are dumb as fuck

Game doing better on Steam than you could argue it should be, but Square are still dumb and they're kneecapping their IPs with shortsighted payoffs.
Yup. It's doing well for all the circumstances surrounding it, but it could still have done far better.

Simply lowering the price more and not screwing up the regional pricing would have made things a lot better.

PC people are sensitive to pricing, no doubt about that and that's a good thing so they don't bend their knees like console only people do with everything.

Didn't Diablo 3 sell like 3.5 mil copies in 24h, which at $60 makes it $210 mil? Well, I hope bad publicity was worth it to just make a fraction of what Diablo 3 earned.
Yup!

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but Diablo Immortal held the record for the lowest user score (0.2) in Metacritic history:
Although it went up a bit since that article.... to 0.4 🤭

By comparison Genshin launched 28th sept 2020 and earnt 100 millions in less than 2 weeks, of those 50 millions in the first week, so yeah given that this is a proven IP one would expect a bit better, guess it really depends on expectations and how it'll chug along from now on

As terrible as Square has been...they do deserve some credit for putting the Pixel remasters and Chrono Trigger on Steam. The prices were reasonable too. I think its genuinely the best thing they've done in the pc space in terms of preservation etc. And they didn't need to do it. In a shittier timeline they would have just made them mobile only and called it a day. The fact that they put them on Steam and not on consoles/switch is really crazy imo.

Now if they can just get FFTactics and some of the older DQ games on Steam I would even forgive them for all the shitty exclusivity decisions that are coming down the road with XVI and Rebirth.

I base it on peak CCUs of both games being lower than their predecessors despite Steam being much larger compared to when those games came out. Chivalry peaked in 2017 and FFXV peaked in 2018 when Steam was only a portion of the size it is today.
I agree to an extent.

I think what's debatable and the core of the question is whether a lot of people picked up the games on EGS already, or whether many of those who would have bought them at launch lost their will to do so (even though they didn't buy them on EGS either).

Given the unprecedented success that other franchises (which are nominally far smaller than FF) have seen with day-1 Steam releases (e.g. Tales of Arise), I personally think S-E still left a ton of money at the table with how they handled FF7R.

I mean, we are talking about a Tales game reaching 60k CCU while an FF game reaches 13k CCU here.

Naah, don't forget that they put the shitty mobile version of Chrono Trigger on PC with ugly graphics and many bugs and they were like

Only after the huge backlash they decided to fix it. There are still some things that could have been handled better but thankfully we have mods for that.

Yea but they will still release on Steam eventually.

But at this point its a possibility we never see Tactics or DQ7-8-9 on PC. Some of the best games ever made stuck on dead platforms :(

Hopefully the Pixel Remasters generate enough revenue long term to persuade them to port those other games to PC as well. Even if they are mobile versions its better than nothing.

I think you did a better job articulating my point than I did. I'm sure the executives at Square Enix believed that Sony and Epic contracts outweighed releasing on every platform simultaneously (and they might have), but we'll never know for sure.

Going on a tangent: if Persona 6 is hypothetically multiplatform, I could see it having a real shot at outselling Final Fantasy XVI and/or FF7 Rebirth simply due to launching on multiple platforms versus PS5 exclusives. Persona 5 + Royal sold 5 million copies on Playstation alone and the Steam version of P5R will likely sell several hundred thousand more (if not a million+).

Yea but they will still release on Steam eventually.

Final Fantasy Tactics Remastered was in the Nvidia leak. Don't forget Tactics Ogre Remastered, which was also on the list, showed up on the PSN database and is effectively confirmed too. FFT on Steam is inevitable, but I can't say anything about the Dragon Quest games.

A statement like that is meaningless without an argument backing it. I'd like to hear yours.
Oops, sorry haha

Thing is both do have two things in common.

The first one is global top selling spot retention. Both FF7R and Chivalry 2 have been there since release moving very little their positions, that's only for in-launcher purchases, then we have the keys traffic that has been doing well based on website inner ratings.

The second one is good CCU peaks and the number of reviews, this is still a good method to see if a game is doing well or not, well, at least to get an idea.

Even though the top chart is revenue based and their prices are higher than some other games, their positions matter as it gives a good picture of how they are performing in time.

In general what I'm trying to say is, both could have done better but they are doing well within what I would say it was expected. :blobmorning2:

Neon White is incredibly good. I've played the first chapter and going back to levels to get the best possible time is so addicting. It's got the vibes of a Suda51 game, and the visual aesthetic is like one of those vaporwave images. So glad I decided to buy this one, can't wait to try it out on Deck later.

Continuing with emulation I'm amazed how good is right now original xbox emulation on PC.
Just tried Conker and DOAX1 and ran perfect.

and the more important Dino Crisis 3 worked perfect too.

can be rendered 4k just with few framedrops except on videos (this need to be improved) but wow.
xemu is amazing.

Are you using any special version of Xemu? Was always interested in the Xbox version of Conker.

Just the last relase from official site (v.0740)
if you have the 4 required not included XEMU FILES you can get on google: eeprom.bin , 4627dev.bin or Complex_4627.bin (BIOS), mcpx_1.0.bin (Boot ROM image), xbox_hdd.qcow2 (Pre-built Xbox HDD image) and your Conker xiso.iso you can nicely play it.

Tried RE2 with the new patch. I have a RTX2060 with a Ryzen 5 3400G and 16gb of ram.
I'm playing at 1080p but to get 60fps I need to cut back on a lot of settings so I decided go for 30fps. The problem is that at first it runs fine but then it turns into a slideshow for some reason. Anyone having this problem? I'm way above recommended specs which according to Capcom should run at 1080/60.
Hell, the PC I had at launch ran the game very well though obviously without RT.

Also, I can't believe they didn't include dlss in the patch. And FSR is still 1.0!

Today I had to nuke my 1 TB SSD because thanks PC Game Pass :thumbsupblob:

This is the second time I had an issue with missing drive space but the first time I managed to restore it without formatting the drive. No luck this time tho. I'm not touching this shit ever again.

You can launch the game without the patch if you change the branch in game properties. It will run much better.

Well, the patch is the reason I'm replaying it. And shouldn't turning off RT suffice to get pre-patch levels of performance?

Edit: ok, I looked around and looks like a lot of people are having issues which forced them to restore access to the old version.
Will they patch the patched version though?

I'm all for anime games and not really banning anything really. This is not an exception to that rule, however seeing the CGs that had to be censored even for the west PS release, I kinda understand why Valve banned it. I really do hate that Valve is this way though, allowing what PS/NSW allows should be the lowest bar.
So Valve banned this yet they allowed TWO Criminal Girls games? Uhhh... Maybe I didn't play that far on Vita but it wasn't THAT egregious.

Those games released in 2017, which was kinda of a "get out of jail for free card" for Steam and porn games. Everything was allowed (see: Evenicle 1). It's in the last 2 years that Valve became much more strict which caused many games to get banned forever

I'm not really a big fan of this attitude (although so far no game I really cared about got hit by the ban), it's just that banning a game forever from Steam without letting the dev know what to change and in how much time, as well as never letting the dev resubmit the app again can cause serious issues for dev banking all on the Steam userbase (taking Alicesoft as an example, it's obvious they had very different plans for Evenicle 2). It's a shitty thing to do
