Thank you for the new thread Mor!!!

Happy March! By the end of the month, I will officially be halfway through my thirties
:nobully:

Not too much for me this month. Probably only Unicorn Overlord. I would jump on Horizon if I actually beat the first game, so maybe I need to get back to that soon. Also, Balatro is too addictive, choose wisely if you decide to buy it haha.

"The two-hour broadcast will not feature any new game announcements or news on Monster Hunter Wilds. It will feature the announcement of players’ top 10 favorite monsters according to an official vote held at the end of 2023, a talk session with the directors of the Monster Hunter series, a look at the “Monster Hunter USJ Festival” that began at Universal Studios Japan on March 1, Monster Hunter 20th anniversary-related information, and more with special guests."

I looked at Rebirth in a shop. Saw the price. Put it back in place with a new trauma.
First rule of console gaming in 2024 is always buy physical and in a webshop.

Jesus.

What a sad purchasing experience these motherfuckers are making people have. Ordering online, or at the very least click and collect if you can have the online price.

I miss consoles, but this is why all those companies deserve the shit they are in. 80 motherfucking euros. No sympathy from me.

Fuck PEGI

Thankfully Steam does not require rating but it got pulled from consoles.
Two issues here:

1) PEGI allows games that abuse gambling mechanics (such as EAFC Ultimate Team) to rope children into addiction and spending huge amounts of actual money to get, sometimes, its lowest rating versus a game that only simulates poker to get porn-grade ratings. Absurd.

2) That the consoles, in some twisted attempt to have a family friendly image, disallow the game because of an arbitrary rating yet allow big publishers to fleece children and vulnerable adults with gambling mechanics and don’t bat an eye at this.

It stinks to high heaven.

Question: does anyone remember the issue with The Sinking City?

For that game was the game uploaded on consoles multiple times or was that just on Steam?

There was the whole legal dispute between the dev and the publisher and the dev even uploaded their own build and we're trying to sell that but it got pulled down only to later got uploaded again since the publisher didn't hold up their end of the deal.

The devs now have control over the Steam build, and updated it to the latest version. If you want to support the people who made it, you can just buy it off of Steam now

Last year I talked briefly about a itchio game called The Roottrees are Dead. It's a detective game where you're tasked of put together the family tree.

The original version available on itchio made use of AI art, and was the main negative point about the game. Today the dev announced they are working on a paid release, and it will include professional art and other quality of life updates.

The page just went up on steam so if you like detective games wishlist it.

My question was more in regards to the issues at the time. Mainly since I saw people talking about the thing with Helldivers 2. Well why can there be 2 games with the same name and stuff like that. I was not sure what the scenario was like for consoles and I was trying to see if I could get some more information in regards to that situation.

Didn't we have a thing with Falcom and Cloud Leopard as well with games of the same name, but in that case they did have permission. And I guess there was Steam backend stuff they had to take care of.

I forgot I ordered this! I'm not usually one for Collector's Editions, but Monkey Island is my childhood.
LRG is a mixed bag. I ordered the Switch Master Edition of Star Wars the Force unleashed way back in 2022. I think it was $200USD that I had to pay for it on the spot. And I only just received it this past week along with my Hatsune Miku PSVR game....oh boy that didn't age well. Since you can't play PSVR1 games on the PSVR2. I'd have to hunt down a PSVR1 and get an adapter.

I don't know if this has been posted, but I think a few of you might like this bundle.

$10 for:

Pseudoregalia (highly recommended 3D Metroidvania. They just added in a map and other QOL improvements.)
GYLT (former Stadia exclusive)
ABZU
Hylics 2
Dicey Dungeons (🐐)
Mail Time
Maid of Sker

Pseudoregalia is also sub-$5 right now to celebrate the newly added map.

Pseudoregalia is such a great game. Though it's more Mario 64 part 2 disguised as a metroidvania than anything. Probably one of the best playing games... ever?
The map should help a lot, because since it's very low poly and also really drab, it got confusing. Likely to make it even shorter, but maybe that's not a bad thing to have a short game based purely around its gameplay.

Dicey Dungeons is amazing too, ironically a dice game that is not beholden to dice rolls.
And Hylics 2 is one the best Hylics-likes around. :face-without-mouth:

Speaking of rumors I wonder when are they going to announce that MGS Master Collection Vol.2. My money is on SGF.

I also wonder if we're going to see a port of the scam version of RDR that Rockstar released last year, or is going to be stuck on shitty ass consoles forever.

Peace Walker is 100% going to be in it, the game most people want is MGS4, and I do believe it's going to be part of the collection as well. The rest is a toss-up, it could be MGSV or Rising. When it comes to extra games they can include Portable Ops in there. But Peace Walker and 4 are the ones that PC players want the most for sure.

I think the position of Valve seems to be to not allow games with the same name, when there is confusion to customers. The thing with NISA and Cloud Leopard is that they generally made it clear that Cloud Leopard only supports Traditional Chinese and Korean, and nothing else in their games (aside from Japanese voices), whereas NISA supports Western localisations and includes Japanese voices and text too.

With the Steam pages for Daybreak, it seems Cloud Leopard also advertised other languages, which might have been a mistake, but it was enough for someone at Valve to pull the plug, likely because there's a risk people buy the wrong product which would open up Valve for legal action due to false advertising. I wonder if going forward Valve might not get stricter about this and require games with different versions like this to have separate titles and make it clearer that certain languages are not supported.

The first one, yes, likely we will see this year as it would make sense.

Second one, lol, who knows, they suck big time.

Which games are we hoping that the second volume have?
Peace Walker, MGS4 and MGS5 and I would love them to include Lost Babel and AC!D games but yeah, the first 3 are the ones that are rumored.

This is all I’d want from it. Controversial opinion, but I hated Rising and I’d happily skip it in any collection.

But MGS 4 is the real prize in any volume 2 Master Collection. That game is basically trapped on one system with no feasible backwards compatibility options, plus it’s still a challenge to emulate on modern hardware due to crashes and instability.

Peace Walker and MGSV are kind of okay, but I’m not clamouring to replay them. I don’t feel much better about MGS4 (in my mind MGS was at its best before MGs3) but it needs to be available on modern hardware.

Adding in AC!D 1 & 2 would be a major bonus. Those games are much better than people give them credit for!

As long as MGS4 is in Vol.2 it will be worthy collection. I don't see why they would even bother otherwise.

Speaking of the MGS collection I've been itching for months now to start MGS3 from the collection but holding back strong.

With the remake coming out I decided to wait to play the remake before doing the OG.

Its my favorite game of all time but I haven't played it in like 15 years. Feel like its better to go into it right after the remake otherwise I will be too critical of the remake and not enjoy it.

Problem is Konami is unreliable. Who even knows when the remake comes out. This thing could be in dev hell and never see the light of day. Tho seeing all this recent Silent Hill love from Konami is kinda of reassuring and makes me believe they still care about their IP.

Is MGS1 master collection worth getting yet?

Any decent mods?
Basically this mod allows you to fix some of the annoyances people had with MGS1 on PC.

Personally I'm not a fan of increasing the resolution (I think the game looks best when it's closest to how it was back in the day, resolution and all), but turning off some of the in-built filters is useful and they've also added analog controller support which some people like. That one didn't bother me so much as I played MGS1 on the d-pad anyway, and it's not like analog adds walk/run control like MGS2, just 360 movement.

As to whether it's worth it, MGS with mods, maybe?

My view on the MGS Master Collection Vol. 1 as a whole remains the same. They're all barebones ports, but the versions of MGS1, 2 and 3 are basically the best versions of those games ever released on PC (and in the case of MGS2 & 3, the best versions of these games, period), even if they could've done more for these releases.

MGS1 is okay, but the filter sucks.

MGS2 & 3 should've had higher resolution options. Some people asked for more graphics options than those two, but what the heck else do you want from a PS2 game?

Mods basically lift these games to be the best they can be, so I'm pretty happy with the state they're in now. Even without mods, Konami fixed a bunch of bugs from the HD Collection releases they're ported from, and the games are functional and stable.
