So after watching some of the latest previews of Dragons Dogma 2 I remain completely confused why everyone is so hyped for it. I'm watching these vids waiting to see a single new thing in it that wasn't in DD1 and so far I have not seen anything except the vape lord class. And from what I've seen the rest of the classes are the same? I saw a lot of people complaining about that, but I'm looking more for new features and expanded RPG systems and it just seems like a near 1:1 copy of DD1.

I even saw someone act completely shocked they could pick up things and throw it and I'm like...did you not play DD1? Am I the only one who remembers being able to yeet things lol

Given how crash prone and CPU heavy these games get, I wonder how they will run on PS4s
How many did you get right?

Hey I only got 2 crashes in ClearSky on my last playthrough. I am failing at some easy ones. FIve Nights of Freddy? Didn't catch Animal Crossing.

And one of them nuked the entire save file where the game would crash everytime when I would reload.

Yeah that's a big issue. Since that was one of the "defining" thing that made DD1 so unique. What if we could let the player pick up objects and people and let them throw those things. What if they would grab on to stuff?

The idea sounds simple enough and yet not many games have such a feature even after all these years. He, want to grab on to an enemy and have your pawn attack it, go ahead. I remember something like that, where your pawn would grab and enemy and hold them in place so you could attack it. So I would imagine it can also work the other way around as well.

People do make different salaries in different regions. There is a reason why people in the Bay area are payed very well. That's because the talent pool is very high there and if you want some of that talent tool then you have to pay a good amount. But since there is a lot of them, they can fire them and still get more since there are others there. You also had the whole remote thing that was happening and because of how expensive the bay area is, they started to move to much cheaper places. What sucked is that some of those companies required for them to move back to the bay area.

You don't need to have your business in those places, since you can save money, but the issue would just be finding talent. But if you can find them then you would be saving money. I remember years ago that some indie/AAA devs were getting mad at some devs in China and other Asian countries because of how well there games were selling and how much they were making in general. "Well of course they are making a lot of money (profit), look at how little it cost for them to rent their office and pay their workers". So that's why they are succeeding but we are not. If this is an issue, before starting out try starting in some place that Is cheaper.

I heard about the doctor strike in South Korea. I don't know the full details, but it sounds like some doctors are pissed that they are not getting payed enough and are overworked. Instead of trying to improve conditions, the idea is for more doctors. Which would limit the chances of some of the current doctors being able to get raises. Not only that but medical schools would need to allow an additional 2k students each year. Those medical schools aren't designed to have that much of an increase in students. So potentially a drop in quality of education for some people.

In Japan last year, there was a strike (labor strikes are insanely rare from my understanding and have been non-existent in Japan for some time). There was a store that got bought out and they were going to fire a lot of there staff. The workers were pissed since that's that something that normally happens. They would have options or something in order to keep on working, but in the case of the store, a big portion of the workers were going to be let go without any other options. They have a labor union and the labor union was the one who organized the strike.

Just a few days ago Google laid off their YouTube Music Austin office. I'm not sure how, but Instagram comments are even way more of a cesspool than Twitter comments some how.

To be fair, with this much time between the two games, you could make a case of the new one being a relaunch of sort. I'm pretty sure the aim is to check if the franchise can hold, not to innovate.

It feels like DD2 has always been a release for the hardcore fans of the first so it makes sense that its not some big new innovative sequel.

The fact that this took so many years to get made pretty much makes it like some typical passion project to give people more of the same.

And to be fair the systems from the first game like the Pawns, day n night, spellcasting and climbing monsters was pretty fun. And worth revisiting for any big dev imo.

Also Capcom isn't really an RPG dev. Everything they make is action centered and they have kinda been stuck in limbo making the same games with slightly better graphics for decades now. The only real innovative thing they've done with success was RE7. There is that Path of the Goddess game too so we will see how it turns out.

Why can't we all get along.

Steam on Twitter has just been a big ol stinker. Over the past week or so.

You know that "it's the same picture" meme?
I had that exact reaction when steam showed me horizon 2 and ghost of whatever side by side. Sony really has a type.

I wasn't really interested in Ghost of Tsushima, but the Steam page says it has coop.
Is that full campaign coop or just some extra mode?

Third person open world?
You could have the same reaction when seeing Witcher 3 side by side with Assassin's Creed Odyssey or Red Dead Redemption 2.
One has samurais in feudal Japan and the other has huge robot dinosaurs in post apocalyptic USA. The combat is completely different as is the general vibe of the games.
But yeah, it has grass and trees and rocks and rivers.

Anyway, never got to play the expansion which is supposed to be fantastic so I'm looking forward to it. This is a genuinely great game.

Can people stop banging on about Ghost of Tsushima now? No more whinging that [insert PS port here] is not that game.

You all get to see what an insipid Ubi-like it is.

Excited for Gravity Rush 2 tho.
