Dysmantle continues to dominate my headspace & game-time. Good gravy this thing is impeccable.

I'm trying to diversify with a few wargames I've recently brought onboard and finding it difficult to focus on just one. It covers the gambit from baby to advanced to what-the-hell-are-you-thinking, between Unity of Command II, Shadow Empire and the consummate War in the East (lol, good luck). Feeling kinda scatterbrained between them all, but I'll find my footing. Perhaps.

In other news just caught up with my favorite Steven King podcast The Kingcast and their guest this week was Anthrax rocker Scott Ian talking Wizard and Glass from the Dark Tower series. Odd story, but Anthrax put Stephen King on the map for me with their '87 release Among the Living. I was aware of King well before but only in an cultural osmosis kinda way. The cover song & album art for AoL was based on King's The Stand and the album liner notes said in effect, "Hey kids, if you like this album you really should check out The Stand."

I was a certified Anthrax fanboy at that point so I carried myself straight to the local library to pick up the book. Browsing through the K section of Fiction I homed in on The Stand. It was the thickest King book by a mile (800+ pages!), and I was struck with doubt. Checked it out anyway and was completely hooked some 30 pgs in. Thus began my lifelong journey for all things King. I devoured everything he'd written before, and did just the same on the other side, eagerly lapping up each new release. Even went so far as to compile a complete collection in hardback, the back 2/3's being 1st edition.

All that's to say that the podcast put the fire in me to revisit The Dark Tower. Own it all on paper yet still purchased the complete Kindle edition for a cool $80 (age does have it's sparing advantages).

Now I'm happier than a pig in s**t. Cruising along book 2 Drawing of the Three while simultaneously trying edge out which wargame is 'just right' for me. (Oh, and I'm also +1 week past my 2nd shot.)

Feeling good, it's a nice change of pace.

Going to post two things from the tail of the last thread:
Congratulations and best wishes to ExistentialThought and wife who are going to get no sleep or gaming time for the next 18 years! YAY!

As an update, my wife and I are now parents. Our daughter was born on 4/27. It has been a whirlwind the past few days. Our last appointment turned into a surprise c-section, even after we knew we were going to have to go the c-section route, it was still much earlier than expected. Everyone is happy and healthy. Just arrived home a few hours ago for the first time and settling in. Thank you everyone for the positive vibes on my prior post about this.

Also, the "Learn Japanese to Survive - Complete Pack" is 93% off so for me it was £2.09 and at that price it's worth a go even if it only helps me to slightly better understand some of the streams i watch.
They look like RPG games which teach and test your knowledge of Katakana, Hiragana and Kanji. Deal runs for the next 5 days.

"number of key projects"
Interesting.
Pachinko machines can be "key projects". :upside-down-face:

Ha, funny coincidence. I'm actually in the middle of rereading Wizard & Glass right now. Last time I read through Dark Tower (over a decade ago), I stopped after Wolves of the Calla, for some reason. I intend to finish it this time. Also, I knew that a guy from Anthrax was a huge King fan but I had no idea they had music inspired by him. That's pretty cool!

Thanks as always to lashman

God too many great months in a row. I still am in the back part of Yakuza 5 and near the beginning of HZD on PS4 (free game!). I haven't even touched Trails.of Cold Steel 4 or Yakuza 6 (gonna need a Yakuza break after 5 tho). And Nier too.....

Nice.

Yeah, Among the Living has 2 S. King songs, the aforementioned title for The Stand and A Skeleton in the Closet for Apt Pupil.

They've covered other books as well inc. Misery & even The Gunslinger himself.

Interesting.
I'm with Jim_Cacher here, I think they are coming back in terms of producing new games and faster, so no wonder why have multiple projects, maybe nothing as big as in the past but some cool things for sure, I want to believe.

Few days with VR headset impressions:

  • Free locomotion is out for now, i don't puke immediately but i feel nauseating
  • AirLink when it works (my router is too old) is awesome, you really can't see difference between tethered link and wireless one but you get much more freedom.
  • When fitness app says advanced course and you didn't exercised for a wile listen it and go with beginner course XD
  • Beat Saber no cross-purchase on Oculus store sucks big time
  • The Lab from Valve is still awesome tech demo
  • Tracking on Quest 2 is surprisingly great

Yeah, I also don't expect big games in near future. Instead I think they will focus on collections and smaller titles (like Getsu Fuma Den) for now.

Btw, the early access of Getsu Fuma Den will include the original Famicom version

Maybe not a bad thing Deathloop got delayed. With PS5 coming with Demons Souls, RE Village next week, Snowrunner later this month and currently playing Pedestrian and Streets of Rage 4, I got my hands full.

Same! They have tons of game waiting to be ported, too. Those DS Castlevania games are so damn expensive now. I really hope Konami working on those soon.

I loved Yakuza 5 but yeah it does go on for too long, I'm at the baseball player and I'm so exhausted with the game that I can't seem to get into it anymore. And this part seems to be the most interesting! With strip clubs and massage parlours, just the things I am into!:D

Lot of interesting releasees this month. Personally looking forward to finally playing El Shaddai on PC. Just fear the PC port could be really quite shoddy going by the "no KBM" support announcement.

Another great OP, lashman , thanks for the work and care you always put into making these threads each month. :photoblobheart:

For fuck's sake, always late to the party with these smelly new threads. I've got a backlog of messages !

- First things first !
:photoblobheart:@lashman for this new thread ! My home on the Internet.

- Second very important part : ExistentialThought
Boy or girl ? And what's their first name, if I'm not too curious ?
Wishing all the best to the little family !

- Third step (could you wait for me to post new threads ? :coffee-blob: )
And uh, thanks to EdwardTivrusky for highlighting the Japanese bundle. Not convinced at all it can help, but at this price point...

- Fourth and final part : ze gamez !!!
Mainly interested in RE8 and SMTIII. Still waiting for feedback on Biomutant, not in a rush to play Mass Effect (and would I even play the new version ?).
Oh yeah, Sigmar is the unknown quantity here, please be good !
