Very true! There's always the hope of finding a decent deal on a headset eventually too, so even if it's not the Index at least I'll have an easier time getting one. :smiling-face-with-smiling-eyes:

yeah, exactly! :) good luck then!

Seriously, Fuck. Valve for this tho:

yeah, that fucking sucks ... should've been pre-order shit AT WORST

Yeah especially when the Index is not available to purchase. Region locked exclusive content is bad :disapproval-blob:

If Valve decided to make a free roaming FPS game like this in VR then there is no reason for them not to do Portal next. Or even a faster/crazier L4D VR game.

I remember a lot of people back around 2016 were saying that games like this would make people throw up in VR so they would never happen. But clearly Valve solved all those issues. So yea those other 2 VR games that they are working on (assuming they are VR games) are most definitely Portal and L4D. Maybe a new ip. I can see them releasing some mega orange style box bundled with all 3 of these VR games by the end of next gen with additional content/expansions/episodes for all the titles too.

They talk about Portal in Keighley's video and their argument for not doing Portal VR is exactly that, it's too fast and they don't want to make ppl puke.

Honestly if Tyler's report on L4D3 is accurate (it was nearly complete, or at least ready to ship in early access before it was shelved and supported both VR and regular gameplay via different characters) it almost makes too much sense to revive the project and finish it.

Others solved those issues long before Valve, plenty free locomotion games around (HL:A also supports teleport as well as normal loco like others) but yes.

Man, it so refreshing to see the Source Engine "look" again. So distinctive from 90% of the Unreal Engine games these days.

I need to find some recent VR headset to see if I have any motion sickness before going forward with my plan to rob a bank :P . At this stage the Index is out of question so even though I don't like facebook/oculus, they appear to be "reasonable" option.

Also, I envy hate everyone with a good VR setup (until I can get one of course).

And yeah, a Portal VR game sound like something that could use a real bucket as pre-order bonus....

ah ok. I didn't watch all of that video yet. I started watching it but quit like a minute in when I saw there was a trailer lol.

Speaking of Keighley..that guy has got to be the luckiest man in the industry today. He gets to chill with Kojima and gets cameos in games. Also gets to play Half-Life: Alyx long before it ever releases. The gaming gods blessed this man wtf.

Gabe blessed him.

It’s not my first rodeo with CS:GO items, I promise you that I won’t be upset.

You have not seen the skin yet! Imagine playing as Alyx in CS:GO.

I know I will be extra-upset, because not only I cannot afford Index, but on top of that, I won't be able to afford a CS:GO skin!

I'll give away my CS:go skin to whoever first quotes this post and asks for it (if they are tradeable).
(I don't play that game)

I want to quote your post but I would feel bad for doing it. It is going to be so expensive.
Let us say I put an option on it, but you are free to keep the skin if you change your mind.

How many female skins are there in CS:GO? One (Ava)? I think Alyx would be the second one ever.

The only issue is that if you play with an expensive skin like the DragonClaw Hook in Dota2, then you get flamed really hard whenever you do a mistake.

No worries, contact me on Steam once we get it and it's yours.

Really, it's not a big deal either way, is it?
(I realize I say this as an Index owner, but these are firmly in the category "nice I guess" rather than "big deal")

Probably not. More like matter of principle.
(I'll probably order Index from winter sale, gotta get those sale points)

With GPU included, that's like nearly 2k€ for single game, I guess there's worse things you could spend that on tho :P

And thankfully Steam Market will cover most of index otherwise. Truly one of best features of Steam.

They should be careful.
Gaming media and fans are a volatile, insatiable lot.

BTW what genre is Dargon Quest Builder 2? I know it's like Minecraft but what genre is that? Building, Simulation, Management?

A Dark Cloud-like?

Nice to see State of Decay 2 coming to Steam. Doesn't fix my pet gripe with the game, though. Which is the developers switching from CryEngine to Unreal 4. State of Day 1 has some solid modding potential because CryEngine uses XML for level data, entity archetypes, and lua for a whole bunch of other stuff. (At least in older engine versions.) Unreal 4 is kind of awful for unsanctioned modding. SoD1 has heaps mods. SoD2 has basically nothing. That said, what little wriggle room exists for modding will be easier with the Steam version.
