Videogame companies being among the first to wholeheartedly embrace the NFT scam is a truly scathing indictment of the industry.
In addition to environmental impacts and blatant scams, I dislike NFTs because it creates artificial scarcity in a space where there shouldn't be such a thing. Lootboxes and gacha were already bad enough.

I've had bad experienced with AKG because of the bad QA they have at their factories in China.

I use the similar DT 880 Pro at work. They have a very solid construction and sound great. They are open-back but don't leak sound as much as others.

At home I use Sennheiser 6xx which use a lot more plastic, but they sound great and are even more comfortable.

Worth noting there's a new Arctis 7P+, differences are usb c dongle (which supports android and switch) and 30+ hours battery compared to the 24 hours Arctis 7.

I have the Arctis 1 Wireless Headset and that has a dongle that works on everything, it even camed with an extension cord, it's great.
I think there was something about don't get the xbox versions as they do not support Playstation but the standard ones support Playstation and Xbox?
Is that still a thing? Was it even a thing? I know there was some wierdness regarding platforms when i looked into it.

I'm sure it's been explained to me but i still don't really get what an NFT is.

Something sort of digital receipt for a something but you don't own it really but its yours but other people can use it and maybe buy it for a million bucks?

All this NFT talk :face-with-cold-sweat:

This is still the same BS piece of nonsense that lets me pay stupid money to "own" a jpeg right? Which ultimately means nothing in practice?
And currently simply remains the latest plaything of fiscal speculators since crypto?
And uses obscene amounts of electricity to transact (which I don't get either)? In the same week as COP26?
WHAT THE FUCK DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH GAMING??

I keep reading articles on what NFTs are and I STILL DON'T GET IT.
WHY WOULD I WANT TO OWN A JPEG APART FROM RESELLING IT FOR A POTENTIAL PROFIT?
AM I A BOOMER NOW??

BattlEye isn’t alone in supporting Proton on behalf of the Steam Deck, by the way. As we reported in September, Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) now supports Linux as well, with owner Epic Games announcing that it should take “just a few clicks in the Epic Online Services Developer Portal” to activate.

But for whatever reason, top game developers aren’t eager to voice their support. Only four out of 15 studios we contacted gave us a yes despite the “just a few clicks” promise — and EAC owner Epic Games itself, amusingly, was not among them. Epic would not commit its subsidiary Mediatonic’s Fall Guys (which uses EAC) to the platform, and previously declined to comment on whether Fortnite (which uses BattlEye) would be available on Steam Deck, either.

For the 20 minutes I played, Forza Horizon 5 seems a really cool game
To bad it now just crashes on startup with no error message whatsoever

I've heard good things about Koss headphones and their value for money. Not audiophile but good for the money.

There was some argument a month or two back here about Gatekeeping PC Gaming and that it was against the openness of the PC Platform. (In regard to boycotting specific services, games, practices, etc. Mostly about EGS but also other things like paid online and so on.)

We ARE Gatekeeping. And that is okay. It doesn't invalidate the PC or PC Gaming as an Open Platform.
Just because it is open, doesn't mean we have to welcome everyone who shits on the carpet.

We successfully defeated paid online
We successfully revived the PC gaming space from the (perceived) early 2000 doom.
We successfully contained paid PC exclusives.
We lost on MTX

And we will not let NFT scum into our space.

They cost $20 and sound way better than most of my $100+ cans.
They have shitty build quality and tend to die after a year if you don't take care of them, but with that price they're still a better deal than some huge cans.

Also, tons of people will be playing it on Gamepass and i expect many will just buy DLC for that version or buy the base game or bundles down the road when they know they like it. The series tends to have legs and a long tail. It's also traditionally big on the console so i expect many people are buying it there to show off the gfx on their Series X and play with their mates on XBL.

Yea I doubt R* put much effort into the PC ports.

Expect them to be broken asf at launch like RDR2 until they patch it and sell it on Steam.

Is it the tech or the reasoning behind it blowing up into a huge environment destroying, techbro nerdgasm hype bubble that you don't get?
I had never thought about using blockchain to store game licenses and thus digital games being resell-able. Now that I could get behind, but it will never happen.

Do Rockstar North even do the the ports inhouse or do they use one of the other Rockstar studios/farm it out?

No clue but I wouldn't preorder it. Better to wait for community feedback and/or fixes after release. I don't think RGL even has refunds. or forums for that matter so people will probably be raging across reddit if ports are shit lol.

Both I guess?

How does the idea of non fungibility for digital content really work in practice? The classic example touted for explaining NFTs is "I own this jpeg now" (aka a digital ledger has a unique serial with the purchaser against it) but everyone can still use the jpeg after all so who gives a shit. So in practice, what's the use case beyond resell and collecting? What tangible use would this actually have in a game?
Are the servers for this centralised? If so then if they get turned off the NFT is gone, you don’t own shit

Also why does a blockchain transaction take so much electricity?
And why are people jizzing so much over this, apart from the usual crypto chodes?
