I have to say input based matchmaking/crossplay is gloooooooorious. Was using both mouse/kb and controller last night whilst playing and it was great, i have seen the future and it involves playing with my console friends and not giving Sony/Microsoft any online subscription money.
I wonder how Stadia will do. The thought of playing games in 4K 60 FPS by just buying a Chromecast Ultra (which I already have) and not having to pay money for PC components and console is cool and all, but:
Every game will be full priced like PC and console
Requires a good and stable Internet connection
Requires Google servers to be up and running 24/7
No offline
No mods, no files to edit
No use of cheat engine, WeMod, trainers etc.
Stadia Pro as monthly sub
I might just get Gylt (exclusive game fron Tequila Works) to test things out, but otherwise I won't touch it.
They showed them a list of their games released this generation sans sports titles:
Anthem: disastrous shite, bomba
Apex Legends: huge hit that tumbled off a cliff post-launch
Battlefield 1: really solid
Battlefield 4: disastrous shite that turned really solid
Battlefield V: mediocre shite still plagued by content issues, bugs and player negativity
Dragon Age: Inquisition: decent game that squandered any remote momentum it had with no follow up 5 years later.
Mass Effect: Andromeda: mediocre shite, bomba
Mirror's Edge Catalyst: mediocre shite, not quite as bomba, but still a slight bomba
Need for Speed 2015: shite
Need for Speed Payback: shite
Need for Speed Rivals: decent
Need for Speed Heat: looks like shite already
The Sims 4: mediocre, now monetized out the ass to "fix" it
Star Wars Battlefront: mediocre
Star Wars Battlefront II: shite, but much less shite now
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order: looks slightly generic, but it'll make a bajillion dollars since we haven't had a proper Star Wars story game in probably a damn decade at least
Titanfall 2: excellent, except you know, you sent it out to die against Battlefield and CoD: IW
and said "You probably need to put all this shite on more storefronts. Even if we're taking 20-30%, at least you won't be locked in a hole with Origen with all your shite games that no one wants to pay attention to, especially if the lootbox regulations come and destroy the golden goose in your sports games."
That's exactly why I couldn't care less about EA "coming" to Steam. When they'll start making good games, or games I can't find on GoG, maybe I'll care. But there's so many good (indie or not) studios making interesting games that I can't see why I'll wait for them.
EA, let me know if you do something different for once (because next Star Wars looks like AAA bullshit GaaS with everything we already played in the last ten years but labelled Star Wars = no thanks), maybe I'll take a look, but for now, you can stay hidden in the closet trying to sell your console-designed copy-pasted games to other people.

No? It's a story-focused linear single player game. Ya, maybe they'll cram something in there to sell us but so far it looks very different to what they've been doing with other games. Really looking forward to it and that's coming from someone who doesn't care much about SW anymore.
Hmm, a few seconds of thinking about that gave me two results : GreedFall and Disco Elysium.
A few more added Luigi's Mansion 3.
No more seconds, will have too much ideas and things will turn insane.
I still feel that steaming cup clip is just someone at EA doing some next-level trolling, together with him or her messing with some old Steam depots to make it appear more legit.

First character, started as a Wanderer. My adventure begins in a town that almost can't be called a town. The only fixtures are a bar and the Shinobi Thieves.
I buy some building material, and leave town. I run into a bone dog. Some flailing later, and I flee for my life, my character dying from a head wound.
Back in town, I desperately search for a med kit, but can't find any. So I look at my map and see a larger town nearby.
I set out, my character running for all its worth.
As I reach the entrance to the town, the four town guards at the entrance insult my character when passing through.
My character collapses just behind the town guards at the entrance of the town. Falling unconscious, and eventually dying since no one came to help!
Lol, seriously though! Obviously their sports games are making hand over fist as usual, but outside of that, have any of their brands really seen the kind of growth they would have wanted this gen?
Battlefield/Mirror’s Edge/Battlefront/DICE: kinda tarnished after a gen of ups and downs Anthem/Dragon Age/Mass Effect/BioWare: lmfaoooo TF/Apex/Respawn: probably not in a good place? But not horrible I guess?
yeah they had some decent indies, but like almost everything EA did this gen, they squandered any brand building they could have done with them.
They’ve ended up with a generation that has tarnished the reputation of probably like 8 franchises (one of which doesn’t even belong to them lmfao) and 3-4 different developers. Which might not be so bad if they had at least made waves with some new hot IPs and experiments. And instead they’re going to come out of the gen with like what, 2 new IPs? Apex and Anthem?
Uffda. No wonder they might be thinking about diversifying their store offerings again!
I played Sonic Generations earlier this year (or was it the year before?), and it felt kinda crappy. Don't remember it being this bad 8 years ago, but it certainly didn't age well. I wouldn't wanna play another one like that nowadays.
This looks kinda cool. It screams, I dunno, Saturn or Dreamcast era game design somehow. Technically bad and clunky but weirdly interesting. Hope it's good.
Star Wars is cool but it also has somewhat of a "curse". I think I was in middle school when I really got into it. I new about the movies but I had never really watched them (well when I was in elementary school my teacher did show us the Phantom Menace).
I know people like the Original Trilogy and there is nothing wrong with that. I watched those movies last. I don't have the same fondness for those characters like other people do. I am a fan of the Clone Wars era and think that's one of the best parts of Star Wars.
The Galactic civil war is just not impressive to me. The rebels designs are boring.
I have watched the new movies and I think episode 7 was okay but episode 8 was just bad. They had a number of times when they could have fixed it, but nope it just kept getting worse and worse as the movie went on.
If in the new movie, Finn doesn't do anything worthwhile or if he doesn't end up with Rey, this will sort of be like The Legend of Korra and he will just be another Mako. He could have just sacrificed himself, played a role and give motivation for the rest of the group. I guess that they did try to do it with that new person but we didn't even know who she was so it doesn't have the same impact.
The one point where they could have changed it all and fixed the movie was where Rey and Kylo try to convince the other to join them, if Kylo join Rey I would be okay with that, I would have liked it more if Rey join Kylo either way both of those are much better result than what ended up happening. But that is not what Happened and where did we end up? In mostly the last place
I also liked the part where she talks about here past, I still view it as her admitting that she is a Mary Sue or that she wants to be one.
I know that there is hate against Rose, which I can understand, the part that is not okay though is people going after the individual that played her in the movie, the same thing happened in the past with other Star Wars movies. I feel like people that do acting in Star Wars movies should be given this heads up. I mean look at both young and old Anakin, I don't think any of them ever acted again (the young Anakin was even bulled his whole life because of it, is that how real life Christopher Robin felt like?) You also have the person that played Jar Jar Bink that wanted to kill himself because of the ridicule. They really should tell these actors more about this stuff before they play these roles. The reason I didn't like Rose was because it did not feel like she added much to the movie, what happened with her and Finn and the whole Casino thing was just really dumb and a waste of time, the only thing that I liked out of all that was the dude that helped them escape and later back stabbed them. Everything else was just bad. So if it was not for Rose maybe that whole thing would not have happened the way it did? I can't even remember too well what happened, was Finn trying to just escape but the Rose girl didn't want to let him escape or something like that?
People consider Episode V as the best of the series and I can understand as to why, but Episode 8 is not that at all. In Episode 4 you have the heroes beat the bad guy, and in episode V the bad guys come in and take everything away from the heroes and he heroes are down on their luck and basically have to run with their tail between their legs. Episode 8 is not like that at all and in the very end they "give hope", which is bull. And that hope part comes from the casino scene where Rose was in.
I do plan to watch Episode 9 later this year and hopefully it better than the last movie (which really shouldn't be too hard to do). People make fun of episodes 1-3 all the time but those movies are at least better since they do more to add to the lore of the series than what ever episode 8 was trying to do.
That one 10 sec meme does a really good job of summarizing the movie, and well not much happened in episode 8.
I have some hope for the new Star Wars game, Respawn has made some good games, Titanfall 2 has a good story. As some have mentioned EA is in a bad position and this may be one of those chances they have to gain trust from people. Also they potentially could lose the Star Wars licenses before their original contract let them have it for. Even after all of that going forward Disney might not even let them do anymore Star Wars related stuff ever again.
I think Activision is in sort of a similar situation (or was) Destiny 2 was liked but not handled well. Destiny 2 is now in a much better situation? They also published Sekiro which was a big hit, it might not have made as much money as Call of Duty but I would imagine that it could lead Activision to publishing more similar games? I mean the game even had a PC CE in NA (which I have). There is the Spyro and Crash games as well, but then you have CTR which has MTX.... oh Activision.
EA needs to get their act together because I don't FIFA will keep being a cash cow for them forever. Well at least EA Sports titles are better than the mess that are 2K sports games? But they still have their issues. COD is still making a lot of money for Activision but year after year the number of people buying COD games keeps dropping (MW3 is the best selling COD and that was back in 2011?) I would imagine something similar has happened to FIFA where less and less people are buying the game? And that's why they keep pushing MTX and stuff like that more more, you have to get money from whales.
If EA does do more single player games they are just going to be smaller in scale compared to even most big name Japanese developers? Maybe the same size as stuff that Platinum game makes, minus the quality (let's ignore Nier Automata since that was .... Very low budget, oh those technical issues that the game had)?
I will definitely be playing the game and I will be reporting back my thoughts on the game.
PS in 2011
The new Star Wars could be good, but I fear it's more Force Unleashed than Jedi Knight. That is, an arcade brawler that has none of the finesse, level design and depth of Kyle Katarn's series. I might have fun with a new FU, but I would fall in love with a new (good) JK.
When Microsoft is paying another popular streamer for exclusivity on Mixer, it's funny how Twitch subscribers are being silenced with "it's just another tab to open" by their fellow console brethren.
This looks kinda cool. It screams, I dunno, Saturn or Dreamcast era game design somehow. Technically bad and clunky but weirdly interesting. Hope it's good.
Ok, another Kenshi story!
Second character, who is actually the same character as the first but with a new name.
Started in the same useless town (do you always begin in the same place depending on what backstory you choose?).
Bought some food and then started my journey to the larger town.
When I arrived at the town, I noticed that the entire town is abandoned!
So my character can just walk into each shop and loot whatever!
Gathering some useful stuff, I leave the town continuing the journey.
Some wandering later, I find a small outpost with an engineering shop. I sell some of the loot, buy a backpack and set out to return to the abandoned town.
I loot as much as I can carry, and return to the outpost, selling everything.
I buy some building materials and set out again.
Travelling closer to a large swamp, I find a small patch of land that seems nice, so I build a small house. This will be my outpost in my coming adventures!
Trying out The Outer Wolds, it runs, hmh alright on my Macbook, 800p and setting at high or better. At least it should be better than OG Xbox One which was what I had to play these kinds of games before.
Trying out The Outer Wilds, it runs, hmh alright on my Macbook, 800p and setting at high or better. At least it should be better than OG Xbox One which was what I had to play these kinds of games before.
Did you cave in on EGS or did you go to the high seas?
I wanna play Outer Wilds, but will most likely go to the high seas until it's on Steam. I mean, the only thing I miss out on when I pirate an EGS game is cloud saves (if the game has it and if the cloud saves doesn't get fucked up somehow) and playtime tracking (only shows when the game is installed which I found to be really stupid).
