How so? The changes are mostly aesthetic (and IMHO it looks better, but that's subjective).

The only functionality changes I can think of are:
  1. Having a "Clear All" button for completed downloads.
  2. Direct linking to and viewing of patch notes,
And those two are great improvements.
There used to be stat that showed when the download was started, now it's gone. And overall looks hard to read, fonts are garbage etc.

It's just odd that Jim Ryan himself mentioned themselves a whole slate of games.
Which means more were in dev to be released in 2021.

Looks like all got pushed back to 2022. Would be nice if we knew which ones though.
1 word : covid ... they must have been hit ahrd by the rona... and not just with the pc ports ... just look at what they showcased yesterdays and dates there

All I got are discord links but
Child please

That looks great and the mobility is chef's kiss

It and Project EVE have showcased some nice combat, and yeah this one defo gonna make my lappy chug at running it, but I am quite interested to still get it day 1 (if my budget allows it :V)

Also Frey is awesome~
Yeah, graphics, character design and animations look awesome. But I am not sold on the gameplay yet. On the other hand, I do think Project EVE's combat looks sick. Very excited to play it but honestly I am not a fan of the character design.
This was a reply to an apparently deleted post about enemies on Tales of Arise being "Damage Sponges"...

Dunno, going to start playing soon but usually damage sponges in early game are because there's a mechanic the game wants you to start using probably a combo attack or elemental weakness. I've found when i'm whaling against an enemy for too long it's because i need to apply an effect or gem or upgrade or special attack or something and then i melt it. Usually. Of course, it could just be the enemies are damage sponges in which case, boooo!

edit: Also, i think because Tales of Arise is a combo-combat type game combat is designed so you get to do flashy things? You probably can't one-hit stuff until later on. Maybe. I'lll find out soon enough. I'm playing on PC so if it becomes an issue i'll just use a trainer tbh.
Yeah I can't agree with them being damage sponges. The whole combat system is built on how to chain combo. Three normal attacks -> 3 AGs point for artes (each starting arte costs 1 AG) -> Boost attack (which recovers all AGs) -> cycle. I can end many combat encounters within one or two minutes. Still haven't encounter any enemies which give me elemental trouble yet.

According to HLTB, The Artful Escape is 3 or 4-hour long. It is a kind of runner in disguise.
i would say it was always pretty clear its that ... with just the usual Annapurna glorious artsy fare
Fuga: Melodies of Steel complete

I implore fans of turn based (j)RPGs to give this a chance. If you want your turn based rpg combat fix, this one satiates it. It's not a very difficult game long as you plan your actions and upgrade accordingly.
Also the characters have their cute moments & animations, and the french dub is quite nice~

There are light puzzles and they have a hub world later on that you explore to complete main story objectives but along the line you can find some areas to get treasure from etc.
The shooting and stealth are ok and work well within the game.
Fuga is great .... defintiely much more than i ever expected it to be

This is not "new" news but I like how Valve changed the key vs Steam purchase thing. It use to just be the steam logo vs a key image. Now it says "direct from steam" vs "Steam key"

So far I'm finding Webbed a little "janky" but still very charming and fun.

But this spider is a little weird with not being able to climb walls and having... laser eyes.

(and yes, the game does have a arachnophobia toggle that turns you into a cute blob)

Last weekend to back the Peripeteia kickstarter, if you're interested.

It's a cyberpunk immersive sim with a playable demo on Steam. It's profoundly janky, but also super atmospheric. It's built around environments that feel almost needlessly massive, kind of like E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy. Lots of huge, desolate spaces that give you an opportunity to appreciate the atmosphere, but it's also peppered with lots of secret routes and items to make exploring the big mostly-empty spaces worthwhile. You can also ledge grab onto basically anything, which is the primary source of jank, and also kind of amazing.

Wasn't this the Deus E-like demo that was all about meandering around a train station?

I don't think so. The demo has two levels, and apart from arriving at the second level via subway, I don't recall any other train stations. Both demo levels have you getting a direct mission objective, so it didn't feel that meandering either.

Tales of Arise has broken through 50k peak concurrent players, still rising.

I think it's now the biggest single-player JRPG release by a good margin on Steam.

If we compare it to Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous who had a ~47k peak and already sold 350k copies, I would say Tales of Arise is somewhere between that and ~500k (based on the 10 times peak rule of thumb).
Impressive.

A blower is very handy for a lot of electronic and household uses tbh. There are other available too but i can't remember the one's i've used. dammit.
Vaccum cleaners can generate some electrostatic which can damage things. just make sure you use the blower outside! Or your room will be full of the dust and junk you've just blown out of the kit. I used one on my PS4 and it helped.

Is your PC that dusty? It's mainly the fans and heatsink fins that would need cleaning. so bear in mind it's not something you would use daily!

Well, I have to do a clean up and was thinking it would be nice to replace those overpriced little spray cans. It's true though that I would really like to use those euros elsewhere than on a fucking duster.
Now THAT dusty ? Meh, all is relative, I suppose the dust filters should be cleaned, but apart from that the big issue seems to be located in the CPU fan. Never cleaned it. Afraid to get it off. Don't want to disturb the new life form that must live in there :face-with-cold-sweat:

Why yes, I'm a little freaked out by the 84c in CPU Temp while playing Control yesterday :fearful-face:

yes once you exclude stuff like PSO2, FFXIV and MH:World

Also it broke 55k

That's why I said single player. :p
And really, regardless of what the tags say I really can't bring myself to consider MH:World a JRPG, lol.

yeah I was only indicating that those appear higher since they're tagged as such, also if you look further down the list there's also stick of truth classified as a JRPG for some reason

If Square ever did a day one mainline Final Fantasy game on Steam, Tales of Arise’s all-time peak would be obliterated.

Instead, delays and bad exclusivity deals is how they treat their PC fans.

Uninstalled Red Faction Guerrilla: Remarstered last night after only a few hours of total playtime. The destruction mechanics hold up pretty well, but nearly every other aspect of the game just feels like padding around them; either it should have been a linear, level-based game, or the open world should have been much denser and more compact.

I think best point of comparison I can give that would sell anyone on if this is for them or not is that it kinda reminds me of Gris.

very pretty but not a lot else
I loved Gris, though I actually think that one is a bit more gameplay-driven than some of the games it gets compared to, like Journey or ABZU (which I also loved, for the record).

Bandai and CapCom have learned that day 1 Steam release means money.

Both of them sees growth with their titles. I have no doubt that Epic have tried getting exclusivity deals for their games, like Elden Ring, but Bandai turned them down, they see how important Steam is for their business. I mean, CapCom literally stated that PC and consoles sales gap is shrinking and htey only release on Steam so far.

No guarantee yet with Elden Ring. At least not until preorders start on Steam 🤞

Who knows maybe Sweeney backs up the brinks truck to Bamco last minute. Its gonna take a lot as Bamco knows Elden Ring will instantly sell millions in first week on Steam.

But yea looks like they gave Square their JRPG money for Kingdom Hearts and most likely FF7R. It was the wrong call as they clearly should have spent that on Arise + Elden Ring. Its another example of EGS not reading the room and just throwing money at name brands. And those prices for KH games is so stupid.

Also I hope them getting in bed with KT for the Nioh freebie doesn't mean they are gonna moneyhat that FF Origin game.

Guerilla had terrible game design. The open world sent you from hub to hub doing the exact same thing over and over and by the time you reached the third hub you had seen everything the game had to offer. After that they made Armageddon which was a linear game and actually had a bunch of interesting weapons and levels but that completely bombed. And so for the last decade people have been pining for the shit tier open world game design that RFG had.

IMO I highly doubt Epic didnt try to moneyhat something from Bandai though. Most of Bandai games uses Unreal Engine thus making them a big partner to Epic already on that side. Feels like it's just Bandai that are not interested in EGS exclusive, there is also an interview previously but not sure if its still stand now.
