can you expand on this bug ?
It has never happened to me in single player, for whatever reason, but in multiplayer it did. Basically, you hit "end turn" and the game just... sits there, forever. In multiplayer you can save, drop, reload together and it worked for us, but if it happens in single player your save is basically done, I don't think anyone's ever figured out a workaround (maybe loading an earlier save and trying again?). It's existed always as a bug in Endless Space 2, and in Humankind, and it's widespread enough where if someone in the community mentions it everyone knows what they're talking about.

Edit: I believe people have mentioned it happening in Endless Legend as well but I never played that MP so I can't confirm, but regardless if people are reporting the bug it's probably there

Yes. But only for 10GB tethering (Also called hotspot data). After 10GB the phone company slows you to 128kbs or less when mobile hotspot is enabled. v_v
Oh yeah, hotspot is what it's called. Crappy that they limit that, real asshole move.

Downunder.
The 3D models in the message boxes also look about as good as they used to in the Crossbell and Sky games, really detailed and with a good number of expressions.
Hmm, I don't know. I still prefer the 2D illustrations over the 3D ones. I mean, look at her face:

Not to say that Falcom hasn't improved the character busts from CS I to IV (because they have), but I feel some expressiveness were lost during the transition to 3D.

Since I was all fawning over Circus Electrique yesterday, I was inspired to circle back around to Darkest Dungeon's Steam page just for kicks.

I've had the base game since way back in the day but was curious to see the current state of DLC accoutrements. To my surprise I discovered that it's currently seeing a pretty deep sale.

The All in One pack, Ancestral Addition, is like 9 bucks and some change. Already owning the base game brought it down to $6.

Pretty good top-off deal!
Nice, picked this one up. I watched my SO play this a lot back in the day, and I never had too much interest because it looked so stressful. But the look of it is so unique, and how can you argue with a discount like this?

It's only happened in MP for me, it happens in single player too for other people. I don't know how common it actually is (their "known issues" lists it as "very rarely"), but it's been an issue in all their 4x games for years and they've never fixed it.

At this point I'll just hold off on Cyberpunk until they're done with it.

Looking forward to Zero even though I already played it with the geofront patch. Such a great game. The Sky and Crossbell games are some of my favorite of all time but the CS arc was so weak that I'm still not sure if I'm going to continue playing the series.

Also because of this the publisher is actually making 25% more

By the way is the Disney game online only?
Dreamlight Valley? Yes it is, its server based (its going to be F2P in the future, so this was inevitable).

It is fun though, if you appreciate grindy life games in the vein of Animal Crossing (really grindy, in this case). Like, it's clearly not as good as AC but I can't stop playing it all the same.

Really good soundtrack too, some great rearrangements of classic Disney tracks.

I always wonder if it is worth starting the trails games, I even own all of them on steam. It's just that I hear how long each one is and then how many of them there are, intimidates me into moving onto another game.
Well I have installed the first Trails in the Sky, I think all the talking about it yesterday made me not able to get it out of my mind.
I also downloaded a mod which adds in voices for everyone, not sure about getting the new portraits (I prefer the look but I have heard there aren't as many variations for expressions). Time to enjoy the ride.

If Circus Electrique was made by any else other than Zen, it would be an insta buy. But, fuck Zen and the Epic horse they rode in on.
And it's published by Saber Interactive, a company that really loves taking the Epic bribe.

Oh and for good measure, they hiked up the regional pricing of the game one day after release.

Used to be that my default demeanor towards all developers was one of goodwill. The fuckery of the last 3 or so years has gotten me to do a full 180 on that stance. Not everyone deserves goodwill or the benefit of the doubt. This game does not seem to be doing all that well... 280 peak CCU and 47 reviews as of right now. Still early days of course. A few years ago I would have thought "That's a shame". Today I'm thinking "LOL fuck them".

I just looked at that portrait mod (I didn't know that existed) and I think it's blasphemy :p. Sky is your last chance to see glorious 90s anime style Falcon, make the most of it.

From what I've seen of the Evolution portraits, they're alot less expressive, I really recommend keeping the originals.
The most notable for me is a certain character in Trails SC/the 3rd, at some points that character completely changes his demeanor, in the original portraits that change is clearly visible, while in the evolution portraits he just looks slightly annoyed.

I think the expressions they do have in the modern games look quite decent, at least post CS3. And for example Juna already covers most of what you see here from Estelle. I was mostly talking about the detail of the models, which I do think matches the 2D art you sere. What it naturally cannot do, is give each character as much of a personality. Short of using mo-capping to match an actors facial expressions, the 3D models will always have to use the exact same pool of expressions, sadly.

The Trails in the Sky games are actually the only games that have this huge variety of expressions, by the time the Crossbell games came around, Falcom was already simplifying things a lot. So compared with Crossbell alone, I think it's fair to say the 3D models in Cold Steel 3 have caught up.

Yeah, I have ended up keeping original portraits, I noticed the expressions weren't as varied. I've enjoyed the voices mod though.

Hey all. You probably haven't noticed, but I have been absent this past week. Have been moving to a house these days. I am pretty much all set in the new home :)

It's an exciting new chapter in my life :D

In regards of 2K launcher bullcrap. Weren't you able to go back older versions in Steam. Then you could skip those pesky launchers on older games...

About the 2k launcher, I seem to recall it displays a ‘dissociate from 2k’ or ‘dissociate from launcher’ (not sure which) checkbox in the lower right of games. Not sure about what it does, it just stood out for me amid all this controversy.

Edit - Yeah, no. It's a checkbox on XCOM 2 start page and says dissociate from my2k. Surely no relation.

xxx: OK, so, our build engineer has left for another company. The dude was literally living inside the terminal. You know, that type of a guy who loves Vim, creates diagrams in Dot and writes wiki-posts in Markdown... If something - anything - requires more than 90 seconds of his time, he writes a script to automate that.

xxx: So we're sitting here, looking through his, uhm, "legacy"

xxx: You're gonna love this

xxx: smack-my-bitch-up.sh - sends a text message "late at work" to his wife (apparently). Automatically picks reasons from an array of strings, randomly. Runs inside a cron-job. The job fires if there are active SSH-sessions on the server after 9pm with his login.

xxx: kumar-asshole.sh - scans the inbox for emails from "Kumar" (a DBA at our clients). Looks for keywords like "help", "trouble", "sorry" etc. If keywords are found - the script SSHes into the clients server and rolls back the staging database to the latest backup. Then sends a reply "no worries mate, be careful next time".

xxx: hangover.sh - another cron-job that is set to specific dates. Sends automated emails like "not feeling well/gonna work from home" etc. Adds a random "reason" from another predefined array of strings. Fires if there are no interactive sessions on the server at 8:45am.

xxx: (and the oscar goes to) fucking-coffee.sh - this one waits exactly 17 seconds (!), then opens a telnet session to our coffee-machine (we had no frikin idea the coffee machine is on the network, runs linux and has a TCP socket up and running) and sends something like sys brew. Turns out this thing starts brewing a mid-sized half-caf latte and waits another 24 (!) seconds before pouring it into a cup. The timing is exactly how long it takes to walk to the machine from the dudes desk.

paging Hektor
