In my field, finding a job opening in a hospital to do clinical work is exceedingly difficult (i.e., out of 15 people who earned a master in advanced studies in neuropsychology only 2 managed to find a proper job). Most people I know went for a PhD because they couldn't find anything else.
I was lucky, though... The hospital where I worked as an intern hired me as soon as my internship ended... Not because I'm an amazing therapist but because I had skills unrelated to my field (software dev) that are uncommon for somebody that studied psychology and neuroscience. Also, I'm a guy and I work a field where 95% are women (my first year of uni: 5-10 guys for 300+ students).
But yes, this makes it really really unlikely that I'll ever enroll in a PhD program (I'd get less than half of my current pay and it wouldn't open any doors to new opportunities, not even an increase in salary).
PhD in Computer Science. And yeah, the pay is clearly lower than what I'd get when working in corporate sector. I don't really mind though, I love what I do, people I'm working with are great and it's great to work on stuff you find fascinating (though teaching can be a bit annoying at times).
I could always find a job in private industry (in fact I know a few people who made their PhD and got them selves some fairly impressive positions at larger companies), lots of jobs in Computer Science, though I actually like working in research, so I'd aim for that first.
This job at VW is honestly p tight. Cant wait to take advantage of that on site gym once my badge is ready.
I sell valves for industrial purposes, steam mostly.

It's as boring as it sounds. We're part of a worldwide US company who don't know a damn thing about how to manage people (not true : they know one way, the one that makes people resign and find another job where they're not treated like cattle).
Thankfully I work for a small division of this Leviathan with a boss who knows how to make people happy in their job, who doesn't care about their politics so we still have autonomy and we can work without being (too much) disturbed by uneffective and stupid corporate decisions.
Can't complain about my job.

Not employed yet, but I am planning on starting a video game development/publishing business after finishing the Spring semester at City Tech. I am currently reading on how to start an LLC so that my personal assets are protected. I've asked a friend to join me with working on some game prototypes in Unity3D and have my mom help me with the business.
Also, I am trying to balance my college work time and my company time, so I am expecting some drawbacks.

Ah yes, there it is, the end of the honeymoon period with a new job. Realizing that despite all the upsides I have working in an office as opposed to physical labor, I'm ultimately a rat in a cage here, and they're watching me every second. Pardon me for being cordial towards an overly chatty coworker outside of a break period.

Was actually pulled aside by the same team leader and told that she didn't mean to be sore with me. Apparently said co-worker is problematic with her chattiness, and the TL's latest attempt at getting her to focus back on her work, before someone higher up came down on her, was trying to see if she could make her feel bad by seeing someone else get in trouble due to her talkative shenanigans.
Weird flex... but okay.
Anywho. The PC gear I was given for my job was fairly bare-bones, and if I'm gonna be here as long as I'm assuming I am, I refuse to work with garbo. Keyboard feels like typing in mud, the headset is the flimsiest thing I've ever used, and the mouse scroll wheel slips from my grip with the most unsatisfying clicks ever, etc.
Headed to MicroCenter today to snag a Logitech G602 mouse + Thermaltake Dasher Mini mousepad, a Razer BlackWidow X Chroma (Mercury Edition) keyboard, and a Logitech G430 headset. Hell - if I'm going to work in a call center, I'm going to do so in style. PC gaming has spoiled me lol. Dropped like $200 total... but at least I got them to price match w/ Amazon.

I'm a developer as well. I'm working in a rather small company (10 employees atm), allowing me to do more than programming alone: meetings with customers, analysis, UI design, helpdesk, training courses etc.

But I'm not one of those. The "company" already had 4 employees when I joined in 2001. I'm the only one left of these people tho, all my current colleagues were hired later. My boss is 10 years younger than I am. ☺

I'm a software engineer. I wrote my first programs when I was ~6. I've wanted to work with computers ever since something like 5th grade. I pretended to be a hacker in 6th grade. Generally though I didn't know if I wanted to work with computer hardware and software (IT, today) or be a 'programmer.'
My current job has a lot of software design that is pretty challenging, and I guess I also work on the 'full stack' as it were.
But there were times in my 20s I wanted to become a novelist.
When I was a little kid I wanted to be a carpenter because Jesus had been a carpenter.
